I think you did a fine job son, you put these vids together quite well too. I like restoring/attempt to repair rather than buying new. The items produced yesterday can be restored in many cases, many were built to last, but in the past thirty years at least quality and pride in workmanship and durability has greatly waned imo. Disposable culture, throw away culture or whatever you'd call it. Thanks.

There is one thing I just can't understand. If the drill is made of aluminum, why is only the wire brush used which ruins the metal and then is colored with a fake aluminum color? The aluminum had to be polished using the appropriate disc so it was perfect and there was no need to paint.
@ekrestoration
@ekrestoration 4 жыл бұрын
do you know some product also used color painting on aluminum too, like planer Makita

Awesome job on something that crusty. You have yourself a sub. Little pointer, the chuck looks quite unstable at the end of the video, slipping and flexing. Either it wasn't tight enough or it's worn out. There's no shame in changing the chuck for a new one, they do wear out and the older ones are designed to be replaceable.

If you don't mind me suggesting though, it would be great to leave out the music, and would be really helpful if you could find a way of writing on the screen what cleaning chemicals/paints etc you use when you use them. Yeah, that cord was really bad. I've not seen the plastic insulation on cords deteriorate that badly before but it does happen depending on where its been stored or came into contact with. I had a USB cord do something similar and it was just attached to my PC but it did not rot as bad as that one.
@InstrucTube
@InstrucTube 4 жыл бұрын
Looks to me like someone might have poured some solvent on it that it didn't like. I've seen cords rot, but they usually don't liquefy enough to stick to something. The fire idea has merit, but I think it would have left more signs on the tool itself if that were the case. Then again, it could have been in a high heat environment without actually catching fire. That could do it.
@randdower6573
@randdower6573 4 жыл бұрын
not to be too much of a troll but it looks like the wire was burned on purpose with a torch. This would explain why the fire damage was focused. I live in one of the hottest places in the southwest and have seen the sun and heat do some crazy stuff but no spontaneous ignition of electrical wires. We did have a power line insulator melt once and short out but that's a bit different than what's going on here. Probably one of those videos where they make an old tool look completely destroyed and then do a decent refurb on it.
