This is a desk top fan I took it from an old poultry farm. This machine has not been used for many years so it is very old and crumbling.All details are rust and dust so restoration takes a lot of time and effort .

I'm in the Philippines right now and my mother-in-law has a whole bunch of these types of fans. The people here never throw anything out and use it till its last breath. And even then find some way to keep things running. They are very inventive here. But usually no restorations going on like this. Great video. We need your help with all the fans here. Free vacation, but your gonna have to work. Lol.

The key to the fan is its motor. I’m amazed how this motor didn’t suffer too much of a damage and its coil just needed simply joining wires together to gain back its continuity. In several worse cases I encountered, the winded coil would have to be severely shorted, grounded or broken, requiring complete replacement or rewinding. I should know since I also tried restoring old fans before. Good productive job! 👍

As a parent I never asked my daughters to come at the top of the class, I asked them to do the best they could. Of course there’s people with lathes, 3 different bench grinders and buffers etc who could do better, but would they have put more effort in? However, I think you could have got a bit of sandpaper to that rusty parts of the electrics. That is the only place you let yourself down in my opinion. But that doesn’t make the entire project poor, as someone else said you got a piece of rubbish and saved from landfill. Well done, and keep thriving to improve.

I managed to fix an old fan that was my father's. It was old and not working well and I wanted to throw it away. I changed my mind, fixed it and now it still works. I did it on his birthday, Agoust 31 and was very warm here in Italy. . I Wish he was there with me. He was probably Happy from heaven

That's what I called a true restoration of basic things in a very basic way...True DIY with basic tools..any one with knowledge with basic tools can do this..not like other hifi restoration videos who use entire workshop and all expensive tools and chemicals..and end up spending double the money that actual product.. hats off to the guy.. please also do restoration of ceiling fan..or mixer grinder

Amazing what can be done, working on the floor, using a handful of old tools, and $5.00 worth of paint/sandpaper, etc., etc.....must have been IN a chicken coop by all the feathers, dust, grim, and spider webs found on the safety cage. I question the integrity of the soldered motor windings, BUT it's running for now...

Um we in the UK and USA tend to have highest wages and more trade that delivers us cheaper products , many countries don't have that for their citizens , it's cheaper for us to just dispose and buy again but not so in many places around the world . .
