I have these old Sailor Moon dolls and decided to clean the cutest couple, Sailor Neptune and Uranus up! There were many mistakes made along the way, but it is a learning process!

I ended up washing a miraculous ladybug doll's hair due to the huge amount of glue in her hair and kept the part for her pigtails due to watching your sailor moon restoration video. that Michiru doll is so pretty. I'm so inspired by how you take care of these beautiful sailor moon dolls. I have a decent amount of sailor moon toys but the dolls never made it to the country I'm in but I used to see them in japanese magazines i borrowed off my neighbour.

It's interesting keeping your mistakes in the video, as you said it's a relief to know other ppl make mistakes in their crafts too! I wouldn't have thought to use a colour-catcher paper, in fact I wouldn't have thought the colours could bleed from such a gentle wash :0

I think using drinking straws as curlers would work better for Neptunes hair. You have to leave them over night tho

I'm glad Uranus turned out well! It's just the simplest way of calming down short hair for me hahaha. For Neptune, I think the way you approached the curls was simply the wrong effect. If you do go back and redo Neptune to look like her anime self, I'd suggest braiding the hair in several sections, while curling up the ends in curlers, then boiling that for an easier time. Btw I think the wet towel and iron method came from the youtube channel @everythingdolls haha.

Eh; unless you’re creating new hair plugs to thicken their hair, it would be a lot of work to change very little. Plus, I believe that Tama already has a Sailor Moon with ruined hair to practice re-rooting on.

I love these restoration videos! I don't know anything about doll restoration, but for the Neptune wave, what about using the curlers in an alternating fashion? Like instead of wrapping the hair around the curler fully, then just put them alternating above and below the hair, one after another all the way to the ends. I don't know if it'd work, it's just a thought.

Have you tried making a UV chamber for a hydrogen peroxide treatment? It's a really powerful way to get out pen marks, yellowing, etc. I use it for the 80 toys I restore.

hey, quick heads up, fabric softener causes doll hair to become brittle quickly as it ages, and it doesn't actually soften doll hair, it's just the residue that makes it feel soft. if you ever resell your dolls with fabric softener used you should definitely disclose that fact on the listing.

Can you explain to me how that works? I have used fabric softener in doll hair for 10 years and it has not made any of my dolls hair more brittle in that time.

@TamasRoom it's not exactly 10 yrs it takes, more so 20 or beyond. but nylon is a long lasting doll hair so it shouldn't be decaying that quickly (ive seen this discussion about g1 mlps specifically)

@@Junebug6969 So this reads as superstition and pseudoscience to me. If it's over a span of 20 years, how can you tell that fabric softener is the one thing put into the hair in 2 decades causing the issue? And then do you know what hair conditioner does in 2 decades to doll hair? It turns into gunky lumps. I think after 20 years, any doll will have issues with hair integrity. People can believe what they want, but I don't think fabric softener is inherently worse for the longevity of the hair than any other compound. All will have negative impacts in that span of time.

Very easy, theres no additional pieces to the joint. I don't know how the head would work on another body though

Hi, I'm sorry if this seems rude but as a doll restorer myself, can you try to pour boiling water on the doll while holding its legs while putting it in a sitting position over a bowl to then leave it in said bowl to boil wash the dolls hair? Sorry it just hurt that you wrapped uranus head with saran wrap.

You filmed this over a year ago, as they appear in your Jupiter and Pluto videos lol Though you don't really seem to restore anything, you just wash their hair, and often, as seen here, mess it up in the process causing the hair to become flat and lifeless when the hair had volume and bounce before you 'restored' it.
