Great job Kieth , looks good, a little tip is some times you can swell a scratch up after you remove the finish by going over the scratch with a thin Cotton cloth and a ordinary clothes iron just put a few drops of water in the scratch or dent, wet the cloth and spread it over the area of the scratch and lightly go over it with the clothes iron set in a higher setting just don’t leave it on one area to long or you could lift the veneer, it great to see how lots of times this will swell the dent and minimize the amount of sanding you need to do. I’m really enjoying your videos it’s fun to learn how things are done in the UK as opposed to Canada. I’m semi retired now but for 35 years I had a small furniture repair Co. And did repairs for stores and moving companies, it was great fun and I met lots of interesting people . Take care,

In America and I searched up repairing veneer and what was it to begin with. Google brought you up first with this video. The satisfaction and excitement this brought me!!! Absolutely beautiful work, I can’t wait to start collecting more tools that I need for my massive projects. I have a Waterfall Buffett that has been in my family over 50 yrs and then a massive leaf drop wood table to patch and restore!!!

I restored an Art-Deco mini-bar much like that one, veneered in burled English walnut. My repairs were much more extensive, stripping back spray paint and then re-application of the veneer on curved sides. It took forever as I could only work on it a few hours a week. Ultimately my customer was very pleased. You did a great job on your restoration, though your choice in top-coat was interesting. A stripper that I have had great success with (including refinishing a complete cherry paneled room) is Soy Gel. It is a non-toxic, water clean-up, soy based stripper with very long working time. It will remove every finish that I know of. A word if caution, do not let and get on the bottom or your shoes and get tracked onto your hardwood floors as it will eat through the finish (a lesson learned at a high cost).

Best stripper I've found/used that's available in UK (IMHO) is Polycell Maximum Strength Paint Stripper. Old-school stinky (NOT a VOC product). Comes as a fairly thick paste (so doesn't run off vertical surfaces) in a tub. Have stripped two dining room tables, a set of six dining chairs and an ESA compass-leg table with ease. Just do it outdoors - the fumes are INSANE. Keep up the good work!

Forgive my suggestion, I live on the other side of the Atlantic and only recently started binge watching your channel. rather than super glue when veneering small dislocations, have you considered using hot hide glue (if it's legal over there). There is a older furniture craftsman specializing in antique furniture (on KZfaq, Thomas Johnson Antique Furniture Restoration) that's been doing veneer repair on mid-century modern with crazy results. This guy's family has been doing it for generations in the New England part of the U.S.
