Sit back and enjoy as we give this Tag Heuer a much needed 30 year makeover. We will restore the paintwork on the case and bezel and also re-lume the dial. The case and bracelet will also get a gentle polish - tutorial

I’m an 80’s teenager and these TAG’s were more popular in Los Angeles, California than Rolexes for a long time. It WAS the watch to have along with your 325i BMR and Depeche Mode playing on KROQ. I love TAG’s and you my friend brought back many memories with your restoration. Enjoy the Silence!!!

This is a very special place for me. It reminds me of my uncle, who worked very hard every day and took a correspondence course to be a watch repairman. He was very good and was able to stop his hard work in construction and concentrate on his first love, watches. I remember watching him work and was amazed at the work he produced. Thank you for bringing back such memories. When the secretary of War and Finance returns and the question of the camera lens is broached, remind her that if you would have had the lens before the unfortunate thumb accident, it may have been prevented. Remember, better optics, fewer accidents. My very best wishes for the coming year. God Bless.

Nothing short of amazing, I am in the camp of returning the lume to its former glory. The watch is still a daily driver and really needs to be functional even at night. I think this channel is great and the skill of the watchmaker evident. It really is a labour of love. I'll say one thing though, l remember these Tag models from the 90s. They cost a few hundred pounds back then. I don't mean to be horrible but even back then they didn't look like watches costing hundreds of pounds and they certainly don't today. However beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder and they may have sentimental value to someone.

While I love all types of mechanical videos, including watch repair and refurbish videos, this is the first time I have found myself salivating over a watch. I bought my mother, at her request, a cheap knock off of a divers watch with money from my first job. This watch, although newer by some twenty five years, would be the archetype of that watch. I think your logic was impeccable. This beautiful watch deserved to be restored so a new owner could enjoy it as new. I tire of restorations that make a machine functional, but leave it half done. If this had been a ‘65 GTO making it run would be only half the job. In my eyes you made the right decision. (are you listening Derek Bieri?)

I've repaired this model loads of times. The first time i tried to remove the bezel i accidently gouged the TAG logo at 12 and had to order a new case middle. This guy whipped it off quite nicely first time. And I personally would have left the dial alone but he did a pretty decent job on the lume.

Glad you decided to give it a complete makeover. It looks beautiful. I had a similar model, the 4000 series in automatic movement. I loved the ruggedness of the watch and wore it daily. Unfortunately one time during oceanographic work on an offshore supply ship, the crown unscrewed a little, and the secondary O-ring failed. Seawater ingressed into the watch, and it was a couple of days before I discovered it. The movement became a complete rust bucket and was destroyed. The watch sat in the drawer for a few years until I pitched it. I really miss that watch and if I had my time back I would have installed a new movement.

You mention that you took a vote on reluming the dial. Yes. Absolutely. The first video that I saw was the Omega pocket watch. I yelled at my phone (where I watch videos) "No!!!!" I thought putting the crystal on a grinder was insanity. The whole way through I thought you were making mistake after mistake. (I am an industrial electrician.) In the end I was in awe. You are a magician of the first order. Always. ALWAYS. ALWAYS!!! Restore the timepiece to new. Give it another 100 years to get a "patina" (corrosion). I bow to your superior abilities Sir!

Great video, amazing quality, fantastic close ups. This is excellent tutorial ! Thank you 🙏 Here my few cents of personal experience: 1)For that two part epoxy you used for small dots- try burning some rubber under the glass to get black soot collected under, then scrape that soot and add it to two part epoxy to make it darker. Yes you can buy black ink, or use permanent black marker, but we’re improvising here today😉 1.5) Also I use flat wooden stick dipped in acetone to remove excess paint when paint filling. 2)always use white paint/primer (wait for it to dry) before applying main color. Ive notice colors get brighter and more correct to the color you’re matching. 3)I like to use very small syringe to apply paint.Make sure the paint is thin enough to flow through the needle. I grind the sharp point off with very fine grit stone. If that tiny needle is still too big for the job- get pliers and pinch the tip together. Now try it. If over pinched, twist a needle 90 degrees and pinch slightly again. Syringe application is less messy and easier to apply. So these are my few shares of personal experience. Please don’t take it like Im telling how to do, No no Im simply sharing. *Wish you and your family a long healthy, happy life and prosperity to your youtube channel.*

As usual, the restoration process is remarkable. Now a Derma Doctor has refurbished the watch with vibrant, aesthetic results. The Tag logo's green is fine but the Heuer's Red is quite pale and vanishing; but you did your darndest best, I would not complain. The bezel found its old glory, thanks to the man's deft hands on the intricacies. Listening to you is like listening to a good shrink who will not overcharge you way off the charts. But I did not do a shrink, anyway. Thanks for being honest with your emotions. It's Ok not to feel Ok, life is no more Pollyanna all the time. While telling us how melancholic you were with all that's brewing in our world is simply relatable. Your way with words tells me you have rich life experiences more than anyone could fathom. I agree with your judgement about restoring this watch. It's difficult for me to equate vintage watches with the wear of time that makes furniture so interesting and this is not some antique timepiece. I do not believe that those who buy fine watches at any period in History, wanted them to get beat up. they were and still are costly investment. Cheers, Rik Spector

You are very talented and have much patience. I am newbie with this watch repair and restoration. I love the attention to detail and how you so focused. I think this would be a good way of releasing stress (therapeutic). I admire your level of expertise, thanks for sharing.

A brilliant craftsman, a wonderful artist, AND now a hilarious comedian. Glad to hear your injury is better. My prayers for you as you explain my guilt in your failure to keep fiscal accounting as per your Accountant. "S"
