Hello I have the same tape recorder, everything works except recording. That's why I would like to disassemble it, but I can't take photos of the upper casing, and I can't remove the Capstan. Can you explain how to do this? unfortunately, you skip this moment in your video, around 3'50". Thank you in advance

Great video! I just acquired this model and I'm having trouble getting the pin screw in the center to come off after trying to remove the panel. Its the bullet-looking pin right where the three heads are that puts pressure on the center of the front panel. Can you tell me how you were able to do that? Any specific tools? I have nothing to grip it hard enough to twist it.

You may need to use a needle nose vise grip , that'd work great for you Nick. Great purchase by the way and much luck to you, cheers !!!

@@DoingMoreKustoms oh yeah just had to come at it from a different angle LOL! Alright last question: Mine is missing the head cover as well as the button covers for it. Do you personally know any good resources to find a replacement for it?

@@nickdejohn5558You may want to do a search on eBay, as sometimes sellers part out these reel to reels. Good luck with your project.

I have a AKAI GX-215D Reel to Reel however the motor slows down to a stop. I changed the drive belt but it still slows down to a stop. After searching the net I have an idea that it may be due to the motor drive capacitors. I was wondering if you knew where I could buy new drive capacitors for this machine. Thanks

Is it possible to open only the back side of the unit? I tried to open mine, but rear wooden panel and sides almost look like they are glued together, so I didn't risk to do it.

I want to say you can't do that, you would need to take apart from front.

Thank you! The audio completely dissapeared on my machine. I was thinking something wrong with RCA jacks, but the front jack doesn't work as well.@@DoingMoreKustoms
