I had to watch this again on the big screen while I did a little project…. I love the remark : ‘giving back its dignity’! Also, seems like it’s been a little while since I heard that weather radio in the background… cool factor ! I’m always checking the weather on a regular basis .. (then texting the daughters : HEY GET THOSE HOUSES AIRED OUT AT 6 am… water the grass tomorrow morning … ect what are dads for .. I just want them to know I’m alive.)( lol)

Kevin, before i wax the leather i take a hair dryer to heat the leather a bit and it helps the wax to penetrate better. Give it a try. I enjoy your videos.

I love using the hot Georgia heat in the summer … or near a space heater n the winter to help my black rock leather treatment penetrate… a Randall knife dealer turned me onto this stuff like over 10 years ago at the Atlanta blade show… I buy the stuff by the case, sometimes sharing it with other knife enthusiasts ( split the case of 12) .. My daughter had a real nice designer, leather purse (she bought at garage sale) after peroxide in side and waiting a week. I used the whole jar three coats .. over a couple weeks time… talk about turning something stiff and lifeless.. it put a smile on her face… I also have used fluid film… that stuff is incredible. I wouldn’t put it on good quality sheaths … but I have used it routinely for my redwing shoes and some user quality leather sheaths … along with maintenance of air cord.. on lawnmowers, bicycles, and cars( brake cable hood release cable.. spare tire cable)… the thing of it in using it on leather it tends to make a little too soft… but maybe it’s because I use too much🤔😳. But the fluid feel I could stay on a soapbox and preach how good it is thousand one uses…. My brother up north sprays the underside of his vehicles before winter…. With a gallon of it… it’s a wool wax mixture and spin around for like 50 years… In elevator maintenance, it saved us lots of time ( instead of using oil which dissipates a lot)… you apply it a couple times .. get it worked in …and it last for years for air( aircraft) cord .. ( small cable) … when I started using it some 25 years ago, the bicycles lawnmower, other cables.. I never had to replace the cable.. my lawnmower stay outside (covered but outside)… the bicycles went through lawn maintenance of Tires and even brake pads… never cables… when I was a kid I was always replacing cables… And I used to oil my bike cables and greased the bearings religiously. Yeah, was that kid. Used to take my bicycle apart in the winter time to routine it. OK too much cold coffee.

Kevin on occasions while restoring my old knives. I've gently removed the shield, buffed the backside and replaced it with the buffed backside up. I've even taken the shield twice to the jewelers and had my own initials etched on the backside of the shield before replacing it. Just something to consider. If you go ahead and gently remove that shield, you might be surprised to find Old Timer or Craftsman already stamped into it and it just needs to be cleaned up.

My grandchildren came to visit me while I was convalescing . We have been through a few videos of yours and few others .. years ago I used to watch nut n fancy .. so I pulled up a few classics of his.. dangerous things … and the emergency situations.. Anyways, it was good to have a couple buddies to share these with… of course we ended up getting a few knives out… They have used the kabar Escabar ( bk 14) .. with the factory grips it’s just perfect for six and eight year old… When they arrived I was outside sanding some old walking staffs that they skinned back in the fall .. we had coated them with deck oil and zip tie them to some pieces of steel I had laying around… they joined me in sanding and tomorrow we will work on the tung oil finish process. Gosh, I get a little off subject … main thing I wanted to point out was that I KNOW that we can watch your videos without fear of any cussing .. just knowing that you are safe for little ears.. the little one wants to know when we can work on knives like you do… I told her we have to go out ‘picking ‘first (lol)… oh yeah, they saw how easy it is to get cut.. even experts can get nicked it was a good learning experience. Keep up the good work, Kevin .

Good job Doc. That blade does look sweet now. I'm torn about lanyards. I do like them big enough to go around my wrist. With a friction type sheath, I'm afraid they'll get snagged and the knife yanked out while I'm weaseling through the brush. It shouldn't matter with a snap type. A sliding bead that cant slip over ends knotted individually helps that
