The final part of the small series about restoring a WWII German helmet, making the leather piece and fitting it in an M31 liner band and inner ring and then mounting it in the shell finishing the restoration.
Now you'll have seen all aspects around restoring German helmets and are hopefully prepared to do restorations yourself.

The last two times I put the liner band into a helmet I managed to add a slosh of blood to the leather. It is hard to get the split washers on the rivets.

Indeed, the first few times you do it something usually goes wrong but once you get the hang of it it won't occur as much if at all.

@@PotatoDigger It is not difficult to remove the liner band. I have seen a "KZfaq" tutorial about how to put it back - the fellow used 2 c-clamps, used a screwdriver to bend back the liner, secured the screwdriver to string tied over the chin strap bales. If it works I will let you know.

@@johnzeszut3170 Yes you can do that, too, but IMO once you get the hang of it you don't need many tools for that.

I took my liner out. I want to put it back in now but the split pins seem loose and do t bend back 100% well. Do you have any strategies for getting them back in?

New sub. I am very disappointed with the reproduction M31 liner I bought from Ukraine. I need to spend the money and get one like you make.

How/with what did you paint on the white letters at 18:09?

I just used some old paint I had around when I made scale models, so pretty much any enamel modelling paint is suitable, it also ages pretty nicely. Luis

Well, it's gonna be trial and error, but it's a common occurrance but as long as you try to rebend them and push them firmly together it should be fixable.
