Ahh don't even talk about exhaust studs haha. I have spent the last 2 years restoring a R33 gtst from tassie that had been neglected for years and its looking great now but when I was reviving the engine bay, I noticed a oil leak coming from the exhaust manifold....strange place for an oil leak - when I took the exhaust manifold off 3 of the studs didn't look quite right. The previous owner had snapped 3 studs and instead of replacing all of them as you should he just replaced the 3 that snapped, BUT he installed them backwards and wound them in so far it blew holes into the oil passages of the head!

Money vs time? Acid dip the block & head Instead of welding nut on stud, use 2 nuts to lock it, if studs are long enough I'm suprised you haven't shoehorned an RB30 into the 280ZX Happy trails, Cowpoke
