Update Fall 2023 - We took the mirrorcraft and these oars to Northern Minnesota for a camping weekend. The oars were perfect for navigating shallow water and allowing us to push off from our campsite. We barely use the oars because the main motor and the trolling motor work so well, but I'm glad we had them for this trip.

This series is super helpful. Ill be doing this on my old boat next spring. You should do a video on building an oar from start to finish.

Great video! My oars have so much filler I've decided to paint them white instead. What type of primer/ paint should I use? Thanks.

Acrylic oil base paint. Will take a lot of coats, but will last.

How do you keep those pins from just sliding out of the oar locks ?

Our pins are slightly bent, which keeps them in place. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work, but it does the trick for us. Does anyone else have better advice?
