The "residue" that you see on the bratz after washing them is probably a manufacturer's coating (some kind of wax or resin) that they finish the dolls with to give them the semi-matte look (that would explain why that one doll was so shiny when you scraped it all off). It's probably breaking down due to age/soap/scrubbing and flaking off!

This series is AMAZING! I never played with dolls, my mom bought me several different kinds and styles, and I just wasn’t drawn to them. My obsession was LEGO. You actually inspired me to take out my collection and clean everything up. It’s so time consuming, but I hardly notice the time going by. It’s actually therapeutic for me to go through all the sets and pieces. Xx

I love seeing her passion for Bratz! I know exactly how she feels because I was the exact same way with American Girl. I was even going to start an American Girl doll channel as a teen! I've saved every box I got anything in and every piece of paper that came with the AG stuff. Every catalog! I'm in my early 20's now and my passion for AG has never left. I've discovered too that alot of adult women (and men) collect dolls and restore dolls! We all have our favs! My recommendation for moving large collections is keep the boxes though!! It really helps when you have to move and store and you'll know what's in each box because it's already orginally labeled!! I love this series so much!

The posters that had their names altered was I believe actual characters. I swear I've heard of Zada before. I don't understand sometimes how some of the characters look just like the main 4.

I had these collection of lil bratz when I was young. They changed the names for the lil bratz to separate them from the original bratz, if I remember correctly.

They're specific to the lil bratz if you look at the wiki, I had a talia.

Lil Bratz were separate characters from the regular Bratz. I believe there may have been 5 of them, but if you look at them they look slightly younger because they are supposed to be preteens, and younger than the Bratz girls. Hence, "Lil" Bratz.

oh my god the brats car, i had a white version and i just remember always having the radio on since it connected to real radio channels, and the lights working as well as the car horn was so cool. honestly it was like a gold mine to me and i was obsessed with it when i was little.

I love love LOVE to hear about the different series you would dream up for your Bratz. I never intended to film any, but I made up so many storylines and characters for mine as well and I still remember quite a few of the plots lol. It warms my heart to know that our dolls sparked so much creativity in us and inspired us to be mini producers and directors lol ♥

You can try heating up a metal rod and wrap the hair around it to style it. Doll makers like Hextian and Dollightful do that, it works perfectly :)

i remember some barbie vehicles had like zip tie seat belts lol...the only thing i didn’t like about the bratz cars was you usually had to take off their shoes to fit them in haha

Oh my soul girl talk magazine, the posters, the star brushes 😭, oh the memories. All your little accessories I was the whole time time "I had that too aah" and the dolls aswell (the Genie magic doll was my sister's but it was mine because she didn't appreciate her enough lol. I remember my best innovative doll house moment was taking my mom's old scarfs, cutting them up, sticking barbeque stick though them and sticking them on the doll house windows as curtain lol. I'm have so much nostalgia now.

The powdery residue is definitely limescale. You can buy a limescale remover from shops which you could mix with some water and use to wipe the dolls, it should work great! The brand is astonish. Love this series!!!!!

another comment said the residue is most likely the manufactures coating to make em matte! i agree! i do doll customizing and restoration and a sealant i use is Mister Super Clear matte/flat sealant! you should try it to rematte them! THOUGH! im not sure how itd react with the manufactures sealant, (it becomes forever sticky when it reacts with oil based paints D: ) so if you do it over the residue test it out on a small patch first! but if youre comfortable id reccomend getting all the old sealant off first!

The white residue may be a top coat like when you have a top coat on nail polish and it flakes.

Byford is my real surname, Demarko is for my online/brand name. Demarco was a name in my Italian ancestry so it has some meaning.

Omg, more bratz just in time for Christmas! When my sister and I would play with our bratz, we’d pretend that the barbies were these kidnapper monsters from another dimension. We also would make the my scene dolls the offspring of bratz and barbies 😂 Pretty weird, but it was fun. Once monster high dolls came around, we pretended they were super models bc of how skinny the dolls are. Like, alllll the dolls had to exist in the same universe for some reason, I dunno why. But it made playing with dolls very interesting.

😔 When I was 18 I was helping my mom go through storage, her and my bf were watching me so when I found my Bratz I acted like they were dumb and threw them away so that they wouldn't think I was immature. I miss the happiness my dolls brought me.

The white bits kinda look like hard water stains. If your parents have a water softener it might need replacing, if not they may need one. Try washing them in distilled water and a sponge

My mom named me after Talia (Yasmin) and when you showed the poster with the girls as different names I realized they were the same doll and was really surprised because I had no idea they even went by other names, I just thought it was an entirely different character :D

They are completely different characters, even though the original few releases of Lil’ Bratz was the core girls, their names and appearances eventually changed.

I had the same car 😍 I loved it was a radio and stick shift was the antenna so when I drove the car around the room I had to move the stick shift to make the radio stations sound clearly 😂

You and I are so much alike. I got into Bratz around age seven, with the first release dolls!! Then the first ever movie also got me hooked. I was so enamored with them, so in love. I felt like they were the most stylish thing ever, and they helped me get through my childhood. I also felt the pressure to stop playing/collecting them as I got older...because people found it weird. But now I am almost 29 years old, mom of 3, and have started collecting again and I swear to goodness it is healing

The car. I had one and the seatbelts were so cool to me. It did play the radio. I also think the one I had was a remote control one that you could drive around with the dolls inside. So crazy seeing things that I wish I kept. I love this series.

This is why I am subscribed, I love this. Hope you're having good holidays. sad story, I had a ton of Brats and the car. But my parents are divorced. My mother thought they were inappropriate so she threw them all away when I was visiting my other side of the family.

I brought my bratz to primary school literally everyday for a while and I would play with them with the girls in the year above and we would trade and they mugged me off so much I got like 3 tops from them and gave them 3 whole dolls. Bearing in mind my collection is around 25 now, 3 dolls back then was a lot of my collection :(

As someone who is an older teen who is still into toys instead of electronics and like normal... teen girl stuff? It's sad to go to the store and see toys that aren't very appealing its now only little childrens toys or like a change in style so more little kids like them and kinda creepy like so its sad to not be able to get toys anymore. :(

Try using distilled water with soap for the ones with the white residue, it could be due to the content of the water which would make sense if it showed up after you washed

Bought the Bratz magazine every week when I was a kid! (I'm in the UK) I even won a copy of the Forever Diamonds game but didn't have a DS to play it on as I was hoping to win the DS bundle. I got rid off all my bratz when I was about 12 and I regret it sooo much. Luckily I still have some of my Barbie movie dolls but would love to buy back the ones I had a kid on ebay someday!!

I love these videos. I was never into bratz, I was a Barbie kid. But my daughter LOVES LOL dolls and has for years. I wonder if she’ll have these memories someday.
