We are finally back! Sorry for the delay everyone but we are finally back with part 2 of our Jumbo tank restoration. It has been a hard few months here at Armourgeddon Tank Paintball but we are finally able to resume and get more work done on our WW2 Sherman Jumbo tank.
As Stuart says in the video we have been hard at work and have been doing a lot of the small fiddly bits that need doing before any huge jobs can be sorted. If you enjoy our tank restorations or just enjoy military history please do like and subscribe!

@@ltournay oh yeah, and I wasn't even a mechanic. If you traveled in APCs (113s) everyone on the squad could do the maintenance. The big stuff (like the aformentioned final drive) was done by mechanics with the help of the "Hey you" duty roster. Get too curious, you'll be right down in there. I was a TOW missile gunner in a mechanized Infantry unit. Our weapons platform was on 113s. It started out looking like a thrown track on a seriously muddy tank trail. I remember the vehicle listing heavily to the right and the track broke and pulled out of the back by another 113. As soon as they dug the mud out they discovered the sprocket broken. That in itself is not a big deal. The mud of course made it wonderful but it was further discovered that the final drive itself was damaged. This is where the curiosity got the better of me. They got an 88 close enough to use the boom and sombody got hurt. Like a pinched hand or something just then I hear, "Ya just gonna stand there staring? Get in here" and just like that, I was in mud up to my ass.

@@CheddarBro yeh not impossible but trying to hit that tiny weak spot while he can just keep moving with his stabilized gun is a difficult task. that's why it sits at the same BR as the tiger and panther after all. i usually just shoot transmission and then shoot lower hull. most things can go right through lower hull even with steep angle. they can be a tough nut to crack if the person knows how to angle it correctly

@@yuurichito1439 even the most experienced players will have issues with a jumbo. especially now we've got volumetric bullshittery to worry about. it's often not a matter of "not playing like garbo" and more a matter of even if my round is on target is it going to pen or get caught on the edge of a plate and do nothing. literally had a 285mm pen apds bounce of a panzer IV armour skirt the other day flat on. the game doesn't know how to caluculate the gaps between armour or overlaps properly. the armour can be paper thin but if you shoot down the length of it it classes that as the thickness. that's why tracks bounce shots so much. plus unless you have max accuracy ace crew then war thunders laughably bad shot dispersion will fuck you over constantly to. so yeh experience helps but you're still gonna get gaijined regularly

6:00 I'm sure you've gotten it out by now, but if you ever have a bolt that just won't budge, the old boilermakers trick is to heat it right up and press paraffin wax into it. It'll wick up into the threads and everything comes apart once it cools

Holy crow. A good friend of mine was a welder fabricator of considerable ability. We worked together in a small shop, I have a good idea of the level of effort you have gone to. My back hurts just picturing stuff you left off camera. You using high nickel wire for patching all those holes ? Whether cutting discs or gas axe, shop costs must be sky high every month in consumables. Beautiful welds. My friend Thomas was that good, not me. I was the wood butcher,he was the metal man. I wish he was alive to see these videos. He worked on tank turrets,USMC,early sixties. And other stuff. Well done. All the best.

Jumbo is E2 not E8 though they are both M4A3's so same hull and engine. Main differences are HVSS instead of bogies, Armour and the E8 (Officially known as the M4A3(76)W HVSS in service little wonder they called it the 'Easy eight' for simplicity) only mounted the 76mm.
