Well bummer I'm late to this party. Found some nitrile adhesive in a tube at CT a few years back. 3m made it and still does but I can only find it in the little toothpaste squeezers now. Worked good for both diesel and gas. Food for thought. Super cool extrusion ty.

Really? Wow I had long since given up on this little project thinking it was impossible. I will keep a look out for some nitrile. Thanks for the info! :)

I'd try the heat resistant (bit more expensive) RTV - it is supposedly resistant to alcohol at least. Avaliable at the local auto DIY store.

Try adding original dawn dish soap to harden the silicone. The glycerin will cure silicone.

If i ever think of a use for them I might give it a try... From my brief google search on the topic it seems very specific to biological sciences and pharmaceutical research which I have absolutely no idea bout. I'm sure there would be some way to make channels between two pieces of acrylic then gluing them back together :)

NIce videos. I guess you have moved on from this, bu just wanted to add my 2c. I do not think you need hot water or hydrogen peroxide. Just regular old water and a little more patience. Regular silicone hardens by swapping the vinegar with hydrogen. I say this because I think this would be easier to do with the jig camped down to a bucket and say the leg of a table. Nice and deep water so there is less worry for entanglement and such. Guess you could also put some dish-soap in the water to make sure the silicone does not stick to itself. Silicone is fairly permeable though, and depending on the type etc. it's not a friend of acids. I think that might be the issue at the end of the video.

Thanks for the comment :) The dish soap is something i will try if i do this again. My understanding is that the silicon is only so permeable and absorbent due to whatever chemistry is used to cure it. I still have a (totally uninformed) suspicion that with the right filler/pressure/curing catalyst i could get it to work. Maybe never with cheap hardware store silicon though :( I believe calcium carbonate powder used as a filler can help resist swelling in fuel. I read it in a patent somewhere.

Sounds cool. Seems like there are many different compositions of silicone that wary ever so slightly. I'd think calcium carbonate sounds like it would outgas CO2 and possibly make bubbles in the silicone. But then again-it should vent out, at least when dry. Maybee high-temperature silicone could be an idea? They seem to be made to withstand rough environments. BTW:Just to be clear - I have no special knowledge of silicone.
