it is the most holland thing ever to clap after it collapsed

Somebody should send this video to Appalachia, this is what you do when an industry isn't relevant anymore.

Oh , and solar and batteries are???

Almost all high load energy consuming items are running off coal generated electricity. I'm a former Former energy engineer. You have been lied to.

hahaha yeah dude ... but your electricity bills skyrocket and your power is no longer reliable. You're right of course ... from the days when people actually need reliable power.

So, there's a coal-fired power station. Complete with generators, turbines, switchgear, transformers, etc. etc. The plant burned coal to provide heat to make steam to spin the turbines and generators, and produce electricity. Instead of blowing it all to a pile of scrap, why not remove the coal-fired boilers and retrofit to burn natural gas, or better yet, put a Small Nuclear Reactor Package in place to generate steam? That's not quite a "turnkey" solution, but close to it. And all of the generators, etc. that are expensive and time consuming to build - not to mention the building itself - could continue generating electricity, using much cleaner methods of producing steam. With proper maintenance, those generators and such don't wear out. There are Westinghouse turbogenerators at Niagara Falls that came on stream early in the 20th century, and they still run 24/7 and produce electricity. Sure, maintenance is needed, but that is still much cheaper - and faster - that building new plants from the ground up.

Can we get a Nuclear plant?

It gets pretty cold in Michigan. More people die of cold than heat. I sure hope all those solar panels installed, after cutting down THOUSANDS OF TREES, can replace the power generated by that coal plant. Maybe it should have been left intact just in case (more like surely) the "green" energy fails?

With an opinion that ignorant, I'm going to assume you're on the older side. That said, it's very easy to attack green energy and promote dirty and cheap power generation when you'll be long gone before your children have to live with the consequences.

@@krisboultbee1006: yup, burning up thousands of cubic feet of natural gas per day. There’s more btu’s in coal than natural gas.

@@superdurppig8686 That's about the most programmed, brainwashed response I would expect. I can also assume your too young to have developed any wisdom or common sense. "Green" energy requires massive amounts of raw materials mining and filthy, toxic processing to create your world saving solar panels and Lithium batteries. That mining is possible only with "fossil" fuels. That heavy machinery isn't run by wind or solar. Solar panels are manufactured mostly in China with raw materials they mine and hoard for themselves. Wind turbines must be connected to the grid to start and they are packed full of HYDRAULIC OIL. You are a carbon based lifeform that emits CO2. Don't forget that.
