@@sherryhayshome Do you handle Pickens and Oconee counties? What is you opinion on both and any area recommendations? I want to be close to Greenville for Saturday night dinners and activities downtown, but out in the sticks, so to speak. I'm in a busy suburbia that doesn't feel private or even safe. In past we have lived in Mt Hood National Forest (OR) on the Clackamas River. We have also resided in Geo Washington National forest, mountainside/Shenandoah Valley. Both locations were fairly remote, and beautiful. This time we love beautiful, near the mountains, but not so remote and not in town.

Scott, I can handle most areas in the upstate. Do you want to live on a lake or in an area with a Mountain View? Travelers Rest and Lake Robinson area are beautiful and about 20-30 minutes from Greenville. Senaca and Salem would be about an hour but more lake homes and property. Pickens and Easley (and Lyman to the North West would be more rural property. To the south of us we have Lake Greenwood but that is probably a little more than an hour from Greenville. There are golf courses and low maintenance neighborhoods all over this area. If you want to email me I can pull a search up for you on what you are looking for and send you a few listings to look at. Listings are going within hours so just keep that in mind. You want to be ready to make your offer when you find what you want with proof of funds. Hope that helps! Thanks

I so appreciate this video! We live in Maine and are considering relocating to SC. We are currently in the research stage and to say we are a bit anxious for a change is an understatement. To say we are not fearful about such a drastic change would be a lie as well. What we really need are honest people who will come along side us to help us do this right to minimize the possibility of looking back with remorse and regret. I sense sincerity in your presentation and would like it very much if you reach out to us. We need a change! Been visiting Greenville since the 90s. My wife is from there and her family still lives there. Anyways it was impressive to watch the growth all those years. Greenville should be the model on how to bring growth. The right way

@@sherryhayshome Sheery, thanks for the information. My visit was so great! I found a town house in Fountain Inn and met some great people at a coffee shop called Steam. As I was ordering a cup of coffee, I struck up a conversation with the owner. Several people overheard the conversation, and we sat down and started talking. I felt like I went into Greenville SC Relocation 101. The people were so friendly! The next thing I knew I was walking through the Farmers Market purchasing gifts for the family. Looking forward to returning.

Places shown in this video: Hunters Ridge on the Green Valley Golf Course. Close to Travelers Rest but Greenville address. Cherokee Valley and The Summit at Cherokee Valley close to North Greenville University Lake Robinson in Taylors SC And The Furman University Rose Garden and Lake at Furman University in Greenville. This is also between Travelers Rest and Greenville with views of Paris Mountain. There are so many other places I could have shown you but the video was getting too long. Coming to Greenville the last week of March to look around, we're this/close to retirement. We've already looked in southern Florida but the summers are killers. Some of the other videos mention lots of rain in Greenville, I noticed you didn't mention it at all, coming from Chicago we don't see much rain at all. Wish to chime in?

Hi Edward. Thanks for watching. I have considered doing a video specifically addressing weather so that may be coming next. Greenville is not like Seattle with constant rain and cooler temperatures, but we do get a good amount of rain. If I had to guess after 30+ years of living here I would say it rains maybe a third of the time and when we get rain it is often in significant amounts (which has a lot to do with the tremendous plants and trees in our area). We do get a lot of sunny days too. It can be hot and humid in the summer but definitely less hot than Florida or Texas. I would recommend coming for a visit during the summer to see what you think. We can get light snow or ice January to March but that is usually a one week event at the most. A lot of retirees move to Florida and then move again to South Carolina because of hurricanes and heat. Plus insurance and taxes have gone up quite a bit over the past year in Florida. We love this area because within a few hours drive we can be at the beach or in the mountains. The most we usually get from hurricanes is wind and rain. Hope that helps! If you decide that the Greenville area is where you want to settle down and buy a home we would be glad to help. Ksid Skerlong here; I live in Seattle's Northend now; Everett, WA...tis another Cloudy day and in the 70s or 80s now...not a lot of lakes, but We are near the Coast...not raining now....although we might wish for some of our relentless Drizzle (as normally happens in rhe fall....how are you?

I commented a while back. Anyways I'm in Greenville as I write this. Been coming up for 30 years. Wife is from Greenville. All I can say is I was in downtown on Saturday night. If the city doesn't wake up this place will be a dump within the next 5-10 years. I saw things in downtown that made me sick. Spent the next couple days hanging out in Easley and travelers rest. I have land off of hwy 11. I am rethinking wether to build there.

Would you know what is the Asian population in Greenville is? You mentioned that there is diversity because of the international companies there. So is good to know. thanks for your time.

Hi Anthony. Thank you for watching. The information available online says that there are between 14,000-15,000 people that are Asian in Greenville County. I hope that helps you. I think the overall population is between 500,000-600,000 people, so the percentage is not large, but we do have a lot of international companies here already, or coming here, and it is a great place to retire as well. Plan a visit to Greenville and see what you think about the area. I am sure you will find various groups to get connected to, and find the Greenville area to be warm and welcoming. There are people from a lot of different states and countries that call this area home.

I was looking at your listing and there are some nice homes at really good prices. I know prices fluctuate greatly depending on the neighborhood. Do you have a video of the neighborhoods within Greenville? I'm still trying to figure out the geography and the freeway there.

Anthony , I highly recommend booking a tour with Mike Cruice at MakeGreenvilleYours.com. Check out the “get moving tour” which is a 3 hour driving tour that will take you through some local neighborhoods, downtown, and suburban areas around Greenville. I do have videos on new construction builders in the area, and a video on Taylors and Travelers Rest that might be helpful to you too. We don’t show homes or land until clients are under contract to buy. You would also need either a proof of funds letter from your bank (if you are a cash buyer) or pre-approval (if you need a loan) ready to go to be able to make offers. Sometimes this is needed to establish a search budget, and can also tell you what a payment would be like if you are needing a loan. Once you are ready to buy here, we can quickly set that up for you, and connect you to local lenders who can help get a pre approval letter for you, if needed. The first step is making sure the Greenville area is where you want to live, and to narrow down the areas you like best, and would like to search for homes in. Then once you are a client, we can create a search for you on our MLS that will send out new listing within your search criteria as they hit the market. We do like to make sure people are committed to shopping only in our Greenville SC MLS area before we start working with them as clients. This helps us give you the most accurate information on areas we know well. Hello Sherry...My wife and I will be retiring before the end of the year. Greenville, and surrounding areas, is one of the two places we are seriously considering to retire to. We visited the Greenville area in 2021. We liked the small town feel. One thing that we are not so sure about is that, being Asian(from the Philippines) originally, we did not see any Asian at all in our 2 day visit. The other place we are seriously considering is the Houston area, which I know, is a very diverse place. We also have visited that area also in 2021. We have been living in Maryland for more than 30 years now. We are currently preparing for our house to put it on the market by July. Any advise you can give us? Thanks.

Actually, I personally know quite a few Asian people that are here and a couple of people are from the Philippines in my church. We are currently building a large home for a couple that are Asian that are bringing a large company here and because of BMW and Michelin and other companies there is a lot of diversity here. I am sure that if you move here you will be pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and friendly people are. You will “find your tribe” as they say. I hope that is helpful. They just had a very interesting international festival downtown Greer that I put in my most recent video. I am originally from Texas, so I have nothing bad to say there. Houston is closer to the coast which is good and bad because of hurricanes and higher humidity. Houston is a lot larger than Greenville for sure.

Doctors are accepting new patients, but you would just need to check with the physicians office you choose to see what their availability is. There are several 55+ communities in the area and many patio and single story ranch homes. I hope that helps.

Silke, it would be best to email me and I can answer your questions. A lot depends on your budget. We do have a website and most of the homes we build are going to be custom quality over $400,000. We are not a tract builder. Lots in our area, if you can find them on MLS are going to be at least $60,000 and up for a half acre. They can be difficult to find. We do search lots for clients and custom build for a guaranteed fee. It takes about 12 months to build with our company. We are building a higher quality home. Our website is www.hayshomesinc.com Also, you would need to have the lot or land paid for to build with us and have some cash to work with for deposits. I hope that helps. There are tract builders that work through construction with a deposit but the quality is going to be less on lower price point homes. If you have the cash to work with custom building can be a good option. I can connect you with construction loan lenders as well. There are plenty of really nice small towns all around Greenville that we can help you find or build a home in. Check out my videos on Travelers Rest. There is also Greer, Taylors, Lyman, Duncan, Woodruff. Plan a visit and explore the surrounding areas. It is a great place to live.

We are strongly considering moving from Charleston, SC to Greenville or Spartanburg. How would you compare those? We do hvac and don't like any amount of cold or traffic. I understand that it is colder there than here. That is the main deterrent. Also, what would a 2800ft 4-5 bedroom, 3 ba home cost to build vs buy? If building, it would be 2500ft.

Hello, and thank you for your question. We are actually in Charleston now for a wedding and weather is about the same in Greenville Spartanburg area. Temps are slightly cooler and in Northern Greenville County we get occasional snow dusting and ice during the winter but this past winter was mild with only rain. When Charleston is getting hurricanes we get wind and rain. I love the Upstate. Easy to get to the beach or mountains in Pigeon Forge within 3-4 hours, Atlanta and Charlotte are only 2 hours away if we need to get to a major Airport or large city, which is rare. Building or buying costs are going to depend on several things, location and finishes, and lot or land size, and age (new vs. existing) I would say mid $500s for the size home you mentioned. If you would like help I know great agents in Charleston that could help you sell and I would be happy to help you find a home or build in the Greenville area. @@sherryhayshome I'll email you now. The congestion and constant traffic accidents along with my young child's medical needs are why we are moving. That home cost is $100k more than I was hoping. We want all non-toxic everything but definitely don't care for high end finishes. The only neighborhood amenity I want is sidewalk. I hear Greenville doesn't have much of that. I might be forced to build because I'm particular about the configuration we need. Will email you. Thanks!

Hi there. Thank you for watching. Greenville is far enough from the coast that we don’t get hurricanes. Occasionally we have heavy rain and wind. There have been some tornadoes but they are not very frequent because we have the hills and mountains around us. Our biggest threat is rain and ice because it makes trees fall and causes power outages. I hope that helps. Weather is mild most of the time! 😊

@@boxbrown4755 Alan, you should be able to find something here in that price range depending on location. It might be a small apartment or older townhome. Prices on rent are climbing though. Depending on how long you need it, you might check out Air B&B or Furnished Finder for short to medium term rentals in the area. We don’t search for rentals, but there are some websites and local Facebook groups that could be helpful for you. I would probably recommend getting an Air B&B for a week or so and scouting out options while you are in town. It is much easier to do a land or home search when you are here and can drive around and look at things in person so renting even short or medium term can be a good option while you are looking.

Do you have equity or a down payment? That could help. I can recommend some local lenders like Fairway Mortgage , Hanover, or HomeStar. They could tell you what kind of loan you would qualify for, and what you would need to put down. Are townhomes and condos an option?
