Retro-fitting Instrument Pods - Smart Fortwo 451 Pure/Passion 84BHP 2008 - Tachometer and Clock

In this video I retro-fit the dashboard instrument pods, containing tachometer/rev counter and clock, to my 2008 Smart Fortwo Passion 84 BHP Turbo 451.
These were standard fitment on the Pulse and Brabus models but in 2008 were a £95 optional extra on the Pure and Passion models, as detailed in the brochure/price list from that time.
The following parts were used:
Dash Intruments/Pods - Supplied by Jordan Coon, telephone number 07586 872867 (United Kingdom) +44 7586 872867 (Calls from outside UK)
Platinum Grey Bezels/Trim, kit containing both - Mercedes-Benz/Smart part number A451542019164CU6A
Mounting screws. quality required 2 - Mercedes-Benz/Smart part number A0059903712
The component was plug and play and no programming was required. There was some re-working required of the dash centre surround trim which involved some cutting and filing.

watching just to watch 👍 i already did this to mine. also changed the actual faces for some aftermarket black ones on my pods and speedo cluster because im going for a darker/black theme overall (car is black panels, black tridion, black leather) 😂 personally i wouldve used a dremel (your natural enemy) with sanding bit to remove the fascia cut outs because me and stanleys into plastic usually ends up in cuts being too deep. horses for courses! luckily i was able to swap mine with the car i got the clocks from. i did also remove my radio to find the connector, the bugger was taped in quite far down! no way to see or find it from the top.

Thank you! I buy my new genuine parts from MB/Smart dealer. For used parts see details in description. I also use Autodoc for big savings on OE spec branded components.

On the subject of retrofitting, would it be possible to retrofit cruise control or automatic headlights? I have a 2008 smart 451 that has them but a 2015 smart 451 that doesn’t. Could I part swap?

I genuinely don’t know as I haven’t delved into that one. So far though, I’ve found lots of wiring already in place for various options, which is reassuring.
