It's almost time for the cocktail party at Dan's boss's house. Sit with me while I get ready at my vanity. Includes hair brushing, sounds of moisturizer being applied, tapping powder on my face, handling a perfume bottle and a lipstick case. Lots of little delicate sounds--glass jars and bottles, lids, plastic and metal cases. Dan is nice enough to fetch my drink from the coffee table, so you'll hear ice clinking in the glass as well. Occasional soft-spoken voice.
Side note: Although I recorded well over an hour of footage, this video boiled down to only 18 minutes. I hope that's okay. Much shorter than usual.

This brings back memories of my parents getting ready for a night out, just before the babysitter comes over. I'd stand beside Mom and watch her put on makeup and break out her fancy jewelry. Watching this video, I can smell the powdery, plastic essence of the products, and feel the coarse bristles of the exact same brush we owned. Simpler times.

I’d forgotten about lipstick holders! I had one that held 4 tubes and it sat on a mirrored tray on my white French Provincial dresser along with my Avon hairbrush and my Sweet Honesty perfume in a bottle shaped like a kitten sitting on a pillow. 💝

Late to this vid but I really adore the relaxed intimacy it creates (I think your Avon vids also succeed at this) - something about the intermittent, unhurried way you and your spouse are chatting, the little bits of organic info on what you're getting ready for, who's gonna be there...such a pleasant atmosphere ☺️ excellent job writing and shooting this video!!

Another vintage masterpiece, Sherri! I literally felt like I was watching my mom get ready for an evening out, with so many of the same props that she used in the 60's! She even had that small hairbrush [but it was blue]! Where do you source your authentic pieces?? Love that brooch...it's perfect for that dress; like it was made for it. I love how simple and streamlined the contents of your clutch are: lipstick, compact, blotting paper, done. Today's women rely on the full shoulder bag to carry all this plus our huge wallets, phones, hand sanitizer (and that's just the bare minimum). These days, I truly appreciate a dress/skirt with those huge hidden pockets to help with all this extra cargo 😅

I've read "In Cold Blood" too, and couldn't help wondering why Truman Capote wrote about such a horrible crime. Apparently his psyche was damaged as a result. I don't think any writer could write a book like "In Cold Blood" and not be greatly affected by what you've researched and written. Switching off the darkness would be hard.

As a person born in the late 60s who was a child of the 70s, seeing your channel and finding out you’re in my approximate age group made me so happy! I love your stuff. You have a naturally soothing voice too. The period pieces look familiar too but some of them are probably from back when I was just a baby! Still awesome!

Funny, I'm 44, and the idea of going to a party with other couples is completely foreign (and terrifying!) to me, but i love the idea of someone else getting prepared and excited! I dont drink either, but that clinking ice in the glass is so comforting. 😊

I love all tbe stories & worlds you create in your work, it's like watching a short scene from a film each time. I want to know more about all the lives of the characters outside of these videos! I love the pharmacy & the post office, the jewellery counter & The Juniper Room. I feel like they could all be joined up to make one small town or city. Your voice is very soothing & the pace & rhythm of your videos are so well timed. Beautiful work! Thanks for all the relaxation! Have you seen my pharmacy videos? In this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibmPbNJpsMqalYk.html I compound a drug and dose it out using glassine pharmacy paper. And in this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZrOUmqpjxr-cmas.html I bring it “home” and take a dose by mixing it in with my Coke. So it’s basically the equivalent of putting a few pills in my purse.
