My parents got married in 1957 and that was my Mom's bouquet and my Dad wore tophats and tails! This couple was so cute and what a fun wedding!

Worked out perfect! Loved every aspect of the planning. Good thing the blue dress ripped however, cuz that one, not so much perfect for the event. Even her tuxes worked.

In the 1950s, there was Groom’s cake, a traditional bouquet of hand made fabric flowers that wrapped the grooms cake in bite sizes. Not cookies.

@@melindainglesby1922 When I was younger I worked a lot of weddings. I've also have gone to a lot of weddings. Personally I think the themed weddings are tacky. I prefer the elegant ones. But to each their own. As long as the day is special to the couple that's all that matters.

Themes personalize the wedding. Otherwise it would feel like just anyone's elegant wedding. It works best when both partners have something in common to base it on and a backstory to go with it and not just random tacky shit like we see a lot on shows like these.

it was a fifties/sixties wedding and the hat and cane is more forties or even Edwardian. I thought they were cute. It shows you don't need to spend a fortune on ridiculous things to have a nice time

Yes definitely scripted. On two episodes while the camera was moving, I saw a different case from the one the groom order. The cake for the show was crazy looking the cake I saw was nice and normal looking.

A couple of points. The bride could have easily stayed on budget with the guys outfits by only getting the hats and cane for the groom and buying cheaper tuxes not tails for the groomsmen. I don't think a Gebera with the rose was ever part of a time period. Generally roses and gerberas don't go great together anyways though I guess we see them in mixed arrangements but they kind of contradict one another formal versus fun and cheerful. A simple rose or carnation boutoniere would have done the trick I am not sure how the boutonieres we saw had anything to do with the theme. He got away cheap wiht the dress

This was from 2011. So he was probably born in the late seventies, given he looks to be in his thirties. Perhaps they got married while they were in their late teens, early twenties in the late 50s and then had an extra "accident" later in their marriage.

This has to be 1. Scripted 2. They find people who are extreme knowing conflict and extremes creates tension and drama 3. The couples are encouraged/coached and it is edited to create drama. The grooms on these show always come off as egotistical. Why would he think his fiancee wants a retro blue dress that is short - I hope he had clear indications she wanted a short dress let alone blue originally. thank goodness he got some good luck and the blue dress was too small and he had to go with the long white dress. I wonder if he had to pay for the blue dress since she ripped it.

I think the blue dress thing is fake. The fact that it really didn't fit her that much means he didn't know her size and measurements, while, magically, the other dress fit her. I don't think Heidi would be that careless to rip a dress so badly either

he wanted vintage. Most wedding dress stores are so overpriced anyway, especially as you wear them once. The markups are insane just because it's for a wedding. The dress was timeless and gorgeous. They could spend the money he saved on making memories on their honeymoon.

Pick a different groom. He obviously has no idea who she is or what she likes. And he has not idea what a wedding costs. He couldn't even get Era correct. And spent money on a photography thing that was totally unnecessary but only 350 on her dress?

photography is really important. That's the memories that you look at forever. 350 is plenty to spend on a dress you'll only wear once. She looked gorgeous.

scripted or not...no one should be cheap on their wedding. I believe couples should sit down and meet in the middle when it comes to budgeting for their big day.

I think anyone spending 30k on a wedding is not being cheap. He was looking for cheaper alternatives and making the center pieces himself to not go over budget, he really failed the dress choice but if that blue dress had been white and her size it would have fit the vintage theme better. The venue, as it often is, was the most expensive thing at 20k, venues are ridiculous.

For a groom to plan a wedding they should give them like 10 to 15 grand !!! Bc everygtime I see a show with the groom planning for the extra 5 grand and the groom always ruins the wedding or is so selfish and makes it about them!!!

An ugly, frumpy wedding that looked cheap with its dirty thrift store furniture. I'd never give away control of something so important for a lousy $5,000.

If he was really going for a retro feel I think he could have done much better with the wedding dress. Surely someone had a retrodress for him or real under $350. I have done that flower arrangement many times I would have gone real but artificial would be cheaper and easier. Really disappointed in the florist with the boutonieres. If he could ge the bouquet right why not the boutinerres. A simple rose, carnation or calla lily would have been beautiul and in keeping with the theme.
