Man I’m glad I ain’t the only one with a build like this. I’m doing a modern/retro build and I don’t care what the purists say. My grandfather served in Vietnam so I got a soft spot for the m16a1 look. Frankenstoner is the perfect name for it btw haha

I have one from Brownnells. I have had it for year and I don't know of anyone who has one like mine.

Thank you, I’ve spent all morning trying to decide between Luth-AR, Tony’s custom, Brownells, and USGI. And I think I’m going with Tony’s. I’ve heard the hard plastic is worse because its more brittle and likely to take damage than the softer plastics that give a little, but honestly with how beautiful and clean that looks and without the mold lines I definitely think its worth sacrificing a slight amount of durability, I take good care of my guns anyway.

I got a set of tonys, fit just fine on a delton upper, just messed with a luth for a psa and my experience it was a waste of money. Used the drimmel just to get close to a fit and still yet the back of the handguards wouldn't lock together, even though the handguards was in the delta ring and in place up front. Its good to know other people have had good experiences with their luth but it definitely wasn't me. I went ahead and got another set of tonys because they didn't fail me before. UPDATE: Neither the luth or tonys will fit the psa upper. Idk what psa is doing wrong now but your out of luck putting a1 handhguards on a psa now. I noticed the reviews showed people with it but they're just doing something out of spec now. I can confirm something else, the Luth does fit easily on delton uppers. So if you're looking for a dissipator with the a1 handguards go with delton and the Luth will fit no problem.

Yeah Tony is customs are good I think everybody likes to Brownells better my friend Run a thousand rounds through the his retro AR with Brownells their heat shield is just a seems to be a bit better now I need to do an update video on that but good luck getting Brownells stuff is always out of stock thank you for commenting really appreciate it

You guys are both lying through your teeth. I’m on week 4 withought my upper, his wife ignores me everytime I call but picks up to my wife’s number because it’s not recognized. He told me 1 week ago my product was ready to ship. Yet he still hasn’t charged me and my order is still processing. Are you guys friends with the dude?

@Restricted-USCM if you ordered an A1 upper good luck with that nobody has them in stock I bet he's thousand plus backorders I got my A1 upper from luth-ar I only bought A1 handguard from him

Not having superhuman ability myself, I can only speak from my experience, which is what I was doing. I’m sorry that your experience was so bad. I was merely sharing my experience-one person-I don’t speak for anyone else, and I have no relationship to him other than customer/seller.

@@cadamsm11 Partner, after buying from him is when I researched the company. He consistently has the same negative reviews for well over 8 years now. I’m not the first one to have this experience and I won’t be the last one to have this experience and from the point of view of a customer which I am to be told that parts are in stock and ready to ship which I was told, to then be in my fourth week waiting while being ignored through calls and emails leads me to believe that you either got “super humanly” lucky, or this company is a scam. Thank you for acknowledging my super human abilities, now that I’ve been reminded of my powers i will simply shit out the a1 lower that I ordered a month ago. Perhaps “lying through your teeth” was a poor choice of words, just seems hard to believe is all,

By the way those marks on the Brownells handguard are supposed to replicate the heat Distortion from the original M16 handguards. They actually look more realistic, I carried an M16 A1 for the first part of my service and then almost the entirety of my Reserve service.

Thanks for the insight on the handguard! Im german so obviously specifics about the M16A1 are hard to come by here and parts for it even more so! I bought the Brownells handguard for my vietnam war (airsoft) impression and Ive wondered if those marks were from a bad mould by the maker or if they were there on purpose

Sir I feel your pain. I just got a barrel for a retro build and I was on a waiting list for 3 years, just got it. Now it's off to the gunsmith to have the front sight post properly pinned on. Ok then I tried to find a carry handle upper receiver in M16A1 or a 604 Style slabside (with no forward assist). Can't find them anywhere, so I get on a waiting list with Palmetto State Armory. I checked my email and literally the email came in just over 40 minutes ago, I clicked on the link to buy one and they were already sold out. I swear to God the wings of the vultures must have been a Flappin.

Just an update I ended up selling the barrel because I got so frustrated with the market. There's no Supply out there and then when is any supply all the greedy people buy them all up and then sell them on the secondary market for four times as much. So I sold it I'm out I'm not playing that game.

@@thor1911. You know I only want what I need and no more than that. Maybe i'm a fool but I always leave some for somebody else that may need some. Try not to think just of myself but of my fellow citizens. Guess i'm a rare breed... Just for the record I ended up selling the complete barrel assembly for $200.00 Didn't make a dime on it in fact lost a little. For me to get the barrel on my 601 clone. It cost me Is total after gunsmith and shipping, around $375.. 1/14 barrel That I waited three years four $225.00, parts and gunsmithing To have the front site tower drilled and pinned in place another $150.00. Of course I had to factor in the shipping cost that's all part of the total. But at least now I have the rifle the way it's supposed to be. I could have just left the one in twelve on there but I was willing to go the extra mile to get it correct, now I am content. Keep in mind I rebarrled it myself....

Its a nice Rifle. Slice and Dice as you will. Just not wild about an A1 build using a C7 Upper and an A2 Delta Ring. I've built a C7 and consider it one of the more perfect combinations of the A1 and A2. Like I said...Nice Rifle regardless of correctness or not.

Just thought I’d chime in here again…My M16a1 clone (I like your term “inspiration!”) is coming along nicely. I’ve attached a short, one-minute clip to take a quick view. My magical, missing component was an A1 receiver, but I found an old Bushmaster at my local pawn shop, ditched the heavy barrel, quad rail, etc, just saving the A1 (semi-auto) receiver. I got the PSA 1:12-20 inch, chrome bore pencil barrel, a 3-prong flash hider from Tony’s, and a better BCG. You can see right off that the stock and pistol grip are A2, and still need changing, but the front handguard from Tony’s s doing it’s job well. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrZ_dtxlnd-veWw.html

Tony's A1 handguards are a no go..too long. Brownells A1 are way better. Not just because they actually fit but they are way nicer looking.in my opinion.

Brownells actually copied the real handguards. The real ones also have those lines in them. Good job. Yes parts are a pain to find! And real stuff is very expensive. Even the retro parts are expensive. Enjoy brother.
