I picked up this old MTB for cheap, decided to rebuild it with some new parts, and ended up spending way more than I was hoping. I went for a quick ride afterward, and it felt good. There is just something special about these old frames. I hope you enjoy it.

love seeing old steel get upcycled (pun intended) and I dig the MKS pedals - I use the RMX pedals. The Brooks is classy

Did you have to switch the hub or the wheel to fit that new cassette?

Great video. Which Nitto handlebars are those?
@Lab7Projects
@Lab7Projects 9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, the bar is a NITTO B802 HT riser bar from BlueLug Japan, the perfect rise and back sweep on these 90's frames IMO, but get it while you can, I waited for over a year for Nitto to make the next batch after I missed the last run.

Great rebuild! I'm curios if the tires are both 26" or the retro is bigger (it's seem bigger ...I suppose 27.5 ")
@Lab7Projects
@Lab7Projects 9 ай бұрын
Thanks, tires are billy bonkers 26", older MTB are mostly 26", makes it harder to find replacement as most the wheelset nowadays are 27.5" with disc brakes.

What size bb did you use? I’m building a 94 mountain track right now and can’t find any info. love the build
@Lab7Projects
@Lab7Projects 5 ай бұрын
you need to measure it, usually are 68mm width, but for what bb type it will depends on your crank set.

very cool build! The chainline looks really bad though, are you having any issue with the easier gear?
@Lab7Projects
@Lab7Projects 7 ай бұрын
nope, it's my first 1x 12 I also thought the chainline looks bad until I compare it with my friend's 1x11, it's quite normal and it rides smooth as butter with the easiest gear, chain wear is normal.

Love the build, but why did you reverse the brakes? Why does the right lever control the front brake?

Every motorbike I’ve ever ridden has front brake on the right. And MOST bicycles. Let’s stay consistent people! 😂

@@ClayKirby-sj3zycould be wrong, but I believe it’s uk/Europe standard to do it that way, where is in the us, left for front, right for rear

Depends on the lug position on the frame and the brake type .

Just got the same bike. Do you know what kind of handlebars it takes?
@Lab7Projects
@Lab7Projects 6 ай бұрын
It depends on your quill stem really, either 25.4 or 26mm, or you can do what I did in the other video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8-JZq2S3d2Yqas.html converting it to a threadless stem then you get a lot more handlebar options.
