You would have seen a report on the game called Doki Doki Panic that went live two (1/26/2020) Sundays ago as of this writing. it explained the original version of what Mario 2 would have been and why it turned into what we got in the USA.
Because of that we did not end up getting Mario 2 until later introduced to the USA as "The Lost Levels." Here is the first world of that game. Available on SNES and Wii.
