I got a 1Ds a couple of weeks ago and really like it - I also got a 5D earlier this year and prefer the 1Ds - I just have an old manual Nikon 28mm lens with it so the slow autofocus is not an issue - I like the way the shutter dial can be set to full stop increments, and the fact that I have a good product with low cash outlay.

How things change , the 1D Canon range is now coming towards it's end of life, although the range are still in my opinion, bloody good cameras, workhorses. Even a popular used retailer has a 1DX for sale, with a 1,613,986 shutter count on it, and still they are offering a 6 months warranty on it, like an old Volvo, they might be boxy, but they are good. It's just technology moving on, workflow in the media business, everyone wants everything in double quick time. Thanks for taking the time to upload the video, enjoyed it a lot, much appreciated.

I still have the EOS 1D Classic CCD Sensor and this , which surprisingly the color science of the old days camera is still quite an accurate stuff, the problem is to find extra batteries for it and I resulted to find the Chinese maker to assist on this , haha . Either way , EOS 1Ds Classic is still a nice machine , no problem on printing A1 size or bigger photo.

I went to Svalbard in 2005. There were a couple of people with these and the just out Mk2 as well. I would have killed for one. I had a Pentax ist*D, a 4mpx camera also 3 fps. If you think the Canon was slow to focus you should have tried the Pentax. More in my price range at the time was the 20D, an 8mpx 5fps APSC camera. Later on I did get a Canon 30D although the last great Canon purchase was my wife's, ID4, 1.3 crop, 16mpx. Best balanced camera I have ever used. Enjoyed the video

I`ve had it. It was very heavy and slow with a small screen and NiMh batteries, i couldn`t go over 400 iso because of the extreme noise. But it had very good image quality, i even bought a 5d MK2 to replace it and send it back because the 1ds was better.
