Emilio - so true! I photographed some of the abandoned tracks and railroad crossings leading to the old sugar "centrales". Jack Delano did an entire book on the P.R. train system.

+Shouldyoubebaptized What a wonderful train for the children (and some grown-ups) by the sound of it - nothing at all like that in the UK - they even struggle to put up a 'Merry Xmas' sign inside some of the stations. Some of the 'Preserved Lines' run what they call 'Santa Specials' at weekends just before Christmas in the evenings. I have never seen one so I don't know if, (or how) the trains are decorated but I am sure it is nothing compared to that CP train. It consists of a trip up the line (usually about 10 to 20 miles and back) during which time you are served an Xmas dinner and Santa comes round with presents for all the children. - Always very heavily booked, I don't know why some of the 'mainline' firms don't do it. Probably they wouldn't be able to justify the cost to their 'share holders'.

+razrramonel4077 The entertainers for the shows travel with the train .. hence the reason there are sleeper cars at the back of the train... the freight cars hold equipment and generators for the train lights :)

Looks like the lights on the crossing were still flashing even though the gates were up and the bell wasn't ringing.

Some signals are set to keep- flashing while gates are up as a caution when the train is sitting right at the crossing.

WOW, wish they did that here in California, the only holiday light show we have is at the DEL MAR FAIRGROUNDS and they charge $15.00 per person in each car !

I was at the one in Toronto and those the engineer told me those ECO locomotives suck at pulling anything heavy like this holiday train and that they should go back to the 4400CW's.
