NB: according to dope sheet item was originally longer, including shots of French infantry in action during WW1, Petain with King Alphonse XIII of Spain in trenches and inspecting the defences of Verdun during WW1 and Petain crossing the Spanish border to take up position of Ambassador for France in March 1939. These shots are missing - either decomposed or used in another item.

One remark, in 1940, marshal was 84 being born in 1856.

@Jan Vitek Exactly right ! born April 24, 1856 ! Stripped of his title of marshal on August 15, 1945, Pétain will also be stripped of the French Academy.

@arthurread9164 No ! It is a lie about the French government that you claim to be on the run across the Channel. The proof: Yves Bouthilliez was still there, Paul Baudouin was still there, General Maxime Weygand was still there, Admiral Francois Darlan was still there, Jean Ybarnegaray was still there. Apart from General De Gaulle. who withdrew to Great Britain did not flee, to respect the Franco-Briannique agreement of March 28, 1940 such as petain, weygand, Darlan and others... betrayed without hesitation So apart from De Gaulle who was under Secretary of State for Defense and War. Name the other members of this French government of June 1940 who supposedly left for London?
