The Arnie charactor is a great addition in this episode. The show emphasizes that even a person with a more limited intelligence can be gentle and kind. Too bad too many people treat these people like trash. They are human as well and children of God the Almighty. The ones treating them badly are cowards.

@@gemox3225 In the story, he was guided by evil because his mental faculties were minimum, so the Jack-a---friends saw him as a tool and NOT a human being, so they were able to manipulate him to do things another would not. This episode is a true heartbreaker. As much as your heart breaks for Arnie, it is a wonder that he made it this far given his little comprehension of the world and is inability to adapt. It would appear that he is on the spectrum [ i.e., inability to interpret/understand social cues, lack of comprehension of humor etc.]. Because of this and his size he had been rejected all of his life. Even today without comparatively vast knowledge of mental compromise we often act just as badly as the townspeople with less excuse.

Growing up in Dearborn, Michigan, I had the same issues. I was a skinny, non-fighter, who was razed, harassed, and was the butt end of a ton of bad comments and persecuted because of that. In high school, I had enough and learned to back fight by revenge. Not my most proud efforts, but I got back at the bullies by doing bad things to the bullies that could never be proven. Will not go into them, but after a while, they stopped bothering me because they knew I liked to revenge on them. It was not a proud time for me. I feel bad I had to fight back, just because a was a skinny weak person physically, so that the cowards would attack like they did. Now, as an adult, I treat everyone with respect and courtesy, no matter if they earned it or not. I guess coming back to Church teaching years ago, did me a world of good. Now I am a better person because of God showing me the way I have got to be.

Wow! That's Leonard Nimoy playing the slick dude hanging out in the Virginia City saloon before his Spock days riding in the Star Ship Enterprise with Captain Kirk. This is another knockout wonderful episode of Bonanza. Every story in this long running TV series showcasing the bonds of family and friendship. Timeless human stories not restricted to 1860s Nevada, but as meaningful in the 21st century as they were in the days of the Old West or in the last half of the 20th century when this iconic TV show aired. Long live the legacy of the Cartwrights, father and sons! Yippee, yay!

I love to watch the old ones and catch bloopers and scene sets that are reused. Like at about 41:40. Hoss says where the guy might be. Tells pa but they don’t say to anyone. Sheriff says well you about ready to show us the way to granite point. Lol. Same time slot hoss rides up dismounts and walks a little bit to granite point to look across the water. Last show went up and came out at the sheepherders place and only water was a little pond where the girl played in the water.

One thing that bugs me, just a minor nit-pick. In the scene where the posse was going out to where Arnie was....How did the sheriff know where Arnie was? He clearly said " 'Bout ready to lead us out to this Granit Point?" but neither Ben or Joe told them where Arnie was. I dont think the sheriff heard Hoss tell them because Hoss wasnt talking very loud and the sheriff was too far away. Just something that bugged me.
