Every scene with Angela getting bullied made me feel sympathy for her. Every scene with Alan getting bullied made me laugh out loud.
@angellopes93535 жыл бұрын
I agree with you! When I watch Sleepaway Camp, I always feel bad for her especially in the scene where Meg picks Angela and throw her to the water while she was screaming from despair, begging to not throw her at the water. Now Return to Sleepaway Camp, the only thing I got to think is they did Alan like a "new Angela" species where we were supposed to feel bad for him, but in the end, I hated him so much but so much that I was wanting Angela to kill him. To be sincere, I felt much more bad for the glasses shy boy than Alan.
@berserkercapitalist12315 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that means giving him more screen time, can't have everything I guess.
@WorldWar2freak945 жыл бұрын
Talisguy That genuinely sounds like an interesting movie. Too bad this film didn’t do it and made Alan, an extremely unlikable person, the focus.
@angellopes93535 жыл бұрын
I think the sequel should be better or maybe decent if the plot continues where the first movie ended. I always wanted to know what happened with Angela/Peter, Ricky or even Aunt Martha. Since the original Angela survived after boat accident, Don't exists any reason for her be a killer. I mean, when I heard Felissa rose played Angela again, immediately I thought she was going to play the same shy Angela from the first movie but when I discovered she not was going to play Angela/Peter but the original Angela of boat accident, It confused my mind a lot. Until today, I still be confused a lot. Never got to understand. I mean, If was the Angela/Peter, it should be acceptable since Angela/Peter was bullied, traumatized and even being forced by his aunt to be a girl, Now the original Angela being a killer after to survive the accident?? What was her reason? Return to Sleepaway Camp had a lot of potential to explore the characters of first movie and be a great sequel but in the end, I felt like RTSC tried to be like the first movie but without that magic that only the first movie has.

Fun fact: In an Interview, Michael Gibney (the actor who plays Alan) said that he didn’t like the character that he was portraying. He said and I quote “ This Alan character really isn’t working for me”
@greywalker5055 жыл бұрын
And now he’s going to have to live with the shame of playing him for the rest of his life. Poor guy. Edit: Of course, he worked pretty well with the script he was given, wouldn’t you say?

Nobody Special true, but it’s not all bad. He actually is a singer now named Gibbz. So it’s not all bad for him. He’s doing pretty good now.

He should've did characters in horror comedies like Scary Movie or that Devil Baby movie.
@jadeandjesse59083 жыл бұрын
I think as much as the dialogue and script are awful, that his performance (while not that good) shows that he's at least an actor who really *acts* and puts himself into roles. Reminds me of Mark Patton in Gay Elm Street (Patton was better than Alan though). There's a lot more dedication and immersion in these roles than a lot of actors who collect big checks for big movies.
@jdc96873 жыл бұрын
On top of that. I read somewhere that in an AMA, he admitted that Alan was a very hatable character

This movie missed the opportunity to exploit the fan theory of both Angela and Ricky teaming up to kill the campers.
@nuritlevy685 жыл бұрын
Agreed. And what a horrid choice of, I suppose, protagonist(?) and awful writing all around not only character wise. Anyone with at least a faint love for the original could've done better, personally I entirely agree with you that there are some fan theories, specifically that one that would've been nice to explore or speculate on. They could've had something there in the right hands but alas.
@sororitysleepawaymortuary16593 жыл бұрын
Or just to have them both in the movie again would have been magic. How they missed that opportunity is beyond me. There's so many cool angles the storyline could have gone with. It could have been a really fun sequel instead of a dud.

Here's a better idea for Alan: Alan starts out being a bully and jerk to the nerds in his cabin, but he also gets bullied by people more powerful than him. One day, one of the nerds saves Alan, either from one of the bullies, or from a natural occurrence, like walking off a cliff, or sliding down a waterfall. Because of this, Alan becomes much more kinder, and starts to bond with the nerds.
@angellopes93532 жыл бұрын
Hey Jeremy, sorry for be late to reply ur comment but I need to say that I liked your idea - because Alan wouldn't just being sympatize enough for we care about him, but he would have also a character-development. I would like to see Alan being friends with the nerds, so when someone tries to pick the nerds, he would defense them back - like Ricky did, protecting Angela on the original.

I know Angela is supposed to be crazy, but even so, it seems a little weird that she's talking to her cousin, the one who attacked bullies bigger than him just to defend her, pretending to be a total stranger. Especially if she's obsessed with anti-bullying. It almost seems worse that they included him, the one person she should have had chemistry with. On the other hand, I feel it's a little unfair to call the movie predictable with it's twist when, I bet, most people wouldn't have known the original actress was in the film (most movie goers don't follow that kind of stuff religiously). So the sheriff looks weird, yes, but not "Look, it's that one actress whose name I don't even know, much less recognize under a bunch of fake skin and hair."
@hoodedman65795 жыл бұрын
It's not obvious because of the actress, but because of the disguised voice; it just screams that the person might not be who they say they are, and who would want to hide their identity in a Sleepaway Camp film?

So fucking sued. 27:57- Welp, 2018 has came and went, and as far as my research on Wikipedia and IMDB goes, there's a film called Camp Cold Brook that was filled in 2017, but it has not yet been given a release date, and Angela is now being played by Danielle Harris, aka Jaime Lloyd from Halloween 4 & 5.

Oh hey, the Snob's best review ever is back up. This movie honestly deserves a Plinkett-style analysis. It's fucking flabbergasting how many bad decisions they made.

Now I want a three part South Park episode that is a spoof of the Sleepaway Camp series.

7:10, one of the best Cinema Snob references ever. Especially, because if I recall Brad and Shit-For-Brains liked Gigli in the Midnight Screenings.

I hate when movies try to make you feel bad for jerk character for arbitrary reason. "Everyone is always picking on me because I'm different!" "They don't care I was sick once." Just because he has problems doesn't mean other people should have to deal with him. It makes me hate all the camp workers for not booting him from camp for his behavior.

I remember that episode of The Simpsons when Homer Simpson put his shirt in the deep fryer.

Could have had Angela and Ricky in the whole movie with a great story. Why even make the movie if they were too lazy to come up with a creative scenario like that?

You know, seeing both cooks getting boiled to death, makes me think, why haven't you reviewed Toxic Avenger? Seriously, dude, I've been eagerly awaiting for you to do a review of the flick because that seems to be your kind of film. So, you planning on making a review on the Toxic Avenger series? Or are you gonna toss in Robot Jox? Either I'll be happy, but I'm super happy you brought this gem back...BJ XD lol

I still miss the old intro song so much. Nice to hear 2 seconds of it to know that you guys do too. You guys remastered the audio as well? Sounds better than before.

man I love that intro song. Its just so cozy to hear that music to the images of the upcoming review of whatever trainwreck film is going to be getting the snob treatment.

I can't recall when this movie came out but the MPAA censorship of these kind of movie might have had something to do with the trimmed down sanitized death sequences. But perhaps it's mostly budgetary as the Snob eludes to in the review. I didn't watch any of the sequels until years later because the twist ending of the original burnt itself ito my brain and scarred me henceforth. And I've watched a lot of horror flicks in my tme. There's just some dark allies I refuse to revisit. That ending is one of them.

Even Cartman of the newer seasons is more likeable than Allen.
@wingsandash5 жыл бұрын
A more likable Cartman cannot be Cartman; rather, a reasonable facsimile. Also, Allen really is classic Cartman.

wingsandash no, classic cartman was funny
@theblocksays3 жыл бұрын
@@wingsandash I agree it's closer to early seasons Cartman where he's bitches & moans more often cause pple call him fatty whilst given Kyle shit for being Jewish. Before the infamous "Scott Tenorman Must Die" episode where Cartman "leveled up" shall we say.

This is one of my favorite snob episodes! Now we can watch the old snob episodes without Russian subtitles, which often get in the way of Brad's fake subtitles. Then some American dude was uploading all the old snob episodes to get subs and clicks for his own channel, but I don't exactly condone that guy and his odd world views. I watched The Geek episode, but because it was on that channel my sidebar kept relentlessly suggesting I watch "Hitler: the Greatest Story Never Told".
