UNIFIL deminers destroyed 4,000 anti-personnel mines to clear 44,000 square meters of
farmland and returned it to its owners who had not set foot on their property since the 1970s. The collaboration between the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS), UNIFIL, and the Lebanese Mine Action Center (LMAC) helps to realize Lebanon’s vision for “Lebanese communities to prosper free from the threat of explosive ordnance.”
