I sold my MongoDB shares last week for a face-ripping 50% loss. I was not sure why I bought them. I am not sure why I sold them except for the price. I am not proud of my actions at either end of the transaction.

You bought in too high in the short term and the fear got to ya. MDB is a very volatile stock it's going to happen. You might end up l regretting your sell at some point. Don't let it get to you too much. It happens and your human. Learn from it is all. The way I look at it. Today your arguing with yourself over dollars when years from now it was just pennies. Only time will tell if mongo is a turd or a gem.

honestly I am more of a buyer at these rates. From experience, I noticed when MongoDB shows signs of weakness and lower revenue forecast thats when you should buy. Not when institutions are hyping it up, after great quarters.

Hi I agree with you that the margin picture is a cause for concern but keep in mind a disproportionate amount of companies' budget is being allocated to AI (it's an AI arms race right now), so that means less spending on services that companies like MDB offer. Couple that with AI is actually displacing the need for some employees and you have a reduction in licenses in proportion to a reduction in staff. At some point this will pass (we are in a cyclical SAAS downturn). The upside, or hope is that MDB will find ways to be more efficient during lean times and come out stronger. That's my take, I plan to hold on and wait it out.

I sold all my Mongo DB 3 weeks before earnings for a nice 170% gain... overvalued, highly dilutive and just taking way too long to profitability.

I had a few shares, sold at $370 for small gain. Seems the earnings report was a Candygram for Mongo Stock (see movie Blazing Saddles). I'm Back in at $227 and will buy more lower. I agree with Morningstar's analysis from June 4th.

Wasn't one of the advantages of mbd the ability to use it among the different cloud providers so that a company would not be locked in? i don't see this value being diminished; i think future data use will accelerate as ai implementation increases and the economy improves. Companies should be consuming and processing data exponentially in the near future.

This is the same as for Redis, Elastic and quite a few other softwares that were co-opted by aws and the like. Cloud lock in is a thing, but doesn't seem to rise to the level of a moat

Hey Brian, thanks for the great content. Small suggestion: always substract SBC from reported FCF and show the real FCF here. Small effort, big effect. Talking about real FCF.

I just bought at rock bottom, I don't see any way but up from here. I used to do an annual field trip tot Warner Brothers Games as a comp sci teacher and they were very bullish on MDB.

It's always hard to tell when the buttom is reached I see significant downside risk (single digits is not very unlikely) but I see massive upside potential too (500 in the next 5 years) so I just hold my shares don't sell and don't buy the dip. In 5 years I know what would have been the right move

You know this AI stuff people are talking about? It creates a lot of data. A lot of data. You want to store that data in a database that scales. Sure you can use Postgres or other databases, but good luck sharding database clusters with the alternatives. Mongo was built with scaling in mind.

mongoDB is free to use you can install on your own cloud, why would I host with them?
@mitchk344
@mitchk344 28 күн бұрын
@@whitelex Each organization will have unique requirements, making self-hosting a potentially viable but not universally applicable option. I anticipate automation in the data systems field will reduce manual intervention and minimize risks. From my experience, systems that are manually managed often suffer from poor configuration.
