Beautiful Bone, Monte! Excellent problem-solving with the misalignments... and your attention to details is exquisite.

Thank you! The model had a great deal of misalignment issues and I thought the model was never going to come together. It took a bit of patience working the gaps and, as the builder, I can still see areas that just were not "perfect". All in all it turned out better than I had hoped and it did surprising well in competition at the local IPMS. Thank you for the comment and for watching the video. Best wishes!

David R Lentz, USA (edited, updated) You have no idea what a joy (if a wistful one) it is to watch your handiwork develop. (I would have done some things differently; that is the nature of the hobby.) My circumstances deny me the means to do so myself, so I have been finding my enjoyment vicariously, watching build videos such as yours. Several months past, whilst in hospital, people ostensibly acting on my behalf threw away all my possessions, including completed 1:48th-scale models of a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A Hornet USN/USMC Attack Fighter and a McDonnell Douglas F/A-18E Super Hornet USN/USMC Attack Fighter (both single-seat versions). My chief substitutions (if memory serves) were Aires’s resin 1:48th-scale replicas of the ACES II Ejection Seat; one had photo-etch seat belts comprising TWELVE PIECES! The ordnance of the F/A-18E kit had decals for all the stenciling. I also had a 1:48th-scale model of a Sikorsky CH-60 Blackhawk U.S. Army Transport Helicopter (if I recall correctly, the Academy kit). I had as yet unfinished two of Hasegawa’s 1:48th-scale kits of the Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptor USAF Stealth Air Dominance Fighter. One I was building with the landing gear down and all servicing panels opened. I was endeavouring to incorporate all the wiring, ducting, etc., that one standing there would see. The second I had included in the seat a pilot figure, with the gear up, and all panels closed. I also had as yet un-started Revell’s 1:48th-scale kit of the North American Rockwell B-1B Lancer (BONE) USAF Strategic Bomber. I had hoped they at some future time I would be able to afford the aftermarkets sets to correct, accurise, and detail 1) the exhaust cans, 2) the air intakes, and 3) the fan blades at the very front of the engines. I also had been hoping to find aftermarket replacements for the cockpit, the bomb bays, and the wheel wells. Now, all gone. I tell you all this because I want you to understand the depth of my appreciation for your video-you made a decidedly better job of it than I could have produced!), and to convey to you my delight in watching it. Thank you. Already have I watched your presentation three times, the last pausing frequently.

I am at a loss for works and it took me some time to collect my thought for this reply. I guess the first thing I wish to convey is my deepest sympathy for the loss of your models. I do not know the reasons why but I simply can't imagine that happening and the blow to your heart that you must have had once you learned what happened to your artwork. The value is priceless on these creations. Just the cost of the kits and the aftermarket additions is a considerable investment. Most do not realize the time and dedication that is put into making these models, they see them as toys and do not understand the value. I'm not saying this is what happened in your case but just an overall perception I get from those that do not understand the hobby. You had a great collection and I do share in your loss. I highly appreciate your comment on my video and appreciate you taking the time to view the content. The goal of the video is to share the construction process and methods I took to overcome the assembly issues. I feel I have achieved that goal by your comments and I certainly appreciate it. I do not know your circumstances but I do pray that you are able to make a full recovery and I wish the very best for you. Once again, I am sorry for the loss of your kits and models. It is unimaginable to me. Best wishes!

Thank you for the comment and for watching the video. The panel lines make a big difference on this model because of its size. Without some sort of detailing or weathering it would probably be just a lot of gray paint to look at. There are so many ways to accent panel lines. I've seen airbrushing, oil paints, special accent paint, and on and on. Each method works well as I have probably tried them all. But using watercolor and pastel chalk has proved to be the easiest method and most forgiving to me. I still use the other methods depending on the model but try to keep it simple when I can. Thanks again for watching the video and for your comment, Best wishes!

This is absolutely a great video of this build, anyone that can build aircraft models are true artist. I can build and super detail anything but for some reason as much as i love aircraft I cant seem to get it right on planes.

Don't feel alone. I struggle as well with armor models. I never had an armor model do well in competition. I have friends that are into doing the "super detailing" of aircraft. They install all the cockpit details, wiring, cables, internal frame work and so much more. Their additions look fantastic! The trouble is, to me, once the fuselage halves are glued together, no one sees it! Only the photos taken during construction prove it is there. I believe in detailing anything that can be seen, opening panels etc. I personally don't see the benefit on super detailing anything that will never be seen. That's just me. Just like this model, most of the cockpit can't be seen in the completed model. I guess we all have our strengths and weaknesses when it comes to models! Thank you for your comment and for watching the video, it is highly appreciated! Best wishes!

Thank you for the comment. The completed model turned out better that I thought it would considering the missing parts and alignment issues. I want to see if I can get the 1/48 scale B-58 to display along side. It is had to find at a decent price. Thanks again for the comment and for watching the video, Best wishes!

You're very thorough, at the beginning of the video I was wondering if they make Bondo for models.
@modelsbymonte2431

To be honest, a can of Bondo would have probably worked out well on this build, I used a lot of filler and super glue. Thanks for the comment and for watching the video! Best wishes!

@@user-ni2zo5zo3c I was joking, of course. I would not recommend using Bondo on a scale model. I don't know how well it would work and it is a very heavy compound. I realize that very little would be used but I just don't know how well it would adhere to the plastic. It does dry fast and sands fairly easy. Heck! I just might give it a test run on a future project. As of now I do not recommend it. (But what do I know?)

@@modelsbymonte2431 David R Lentz, USA Almost any of the putties for plastic scale model kits will have solvents (if that is the correct term). Years past had I built three of the Tamiya 1:48th-scale kit of the De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito RAF Light Bomber/Photo-Reconnaissance Aircraft, one f which I had used a bit of Squadron filler somewhere along the rear left fuselage. If formed a sort of "sinkhole" round the size of a fresh blueberry--not exactly tiny! I had to patch it on the exterior--this time using Testor's putty.

I did a search for 1/48 scale B1B decals. I believe the set I used was from Superscale Decals. Not 100% certain on that however. That's the best I can do. I hope you find what you are looking for. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Best wishes and good luck with your build.
