les pauls can do any genre well and not look out of place either though it depends on the pickups and amp more than anything check out agile guitars they got some well priced neck threw les pauls and one with a legit floyd rose for under 400 can't beat that

Not their best effort on this vid. Rob seemed irked and Lee was caught a bit off-guard by it and trying to steer things back to the positive. Came across like neither was really feeling these guitars, which is a shame. As an owner of a Reverend Double Agent I can tell you I play it more than I do my PRS Custom 22, my Gibson SG, and my Strat. It's a really fun and unique guitar that feels great in the hand (and it looks cool as well). Definitely check out Reverend!

Sorry Rob, but that's not Nashville tuning. Nashville is still standard E tuning but the lowest four strings are super light gauge and tuned up an octave while the highest, B and E, are still normal gauge and octave.

So at the start of April before my bands first EU tour, my amp died. With this, my wonderful other half allowed me to grab a new amp (an EVH 5150 50w) and a new guitar. My Reverend Sensei is the most incredible guitar I have ever played! I've been so inspired by it and it's reignited my passion for songwriting again! Absolutely love it so much!

Yeah it felt off. Amazing guitars and it doesn't even seem like he was trying to be respectful of Cap. Cap actually seems visually annoyed this episode, but hiding it well. The lack of jams longer than 20 seconds, never mind that they all ended in some Rob ego-solo, speaks volumes of the lack of connection between the two. As Cap said, Rob is flying in jet-lagged and weird, and for him it's a Monday. Low key, but effective.

I prefer Reverend it may just be my opinion, I own a Buckshot, and a Sensei RA, and they are killer guitars. I recently bought a couple Ernie Ball Music Man guitars though, and they have the best neck I have ever played though, and I just have to let everyone know how great they are, but Reverend is a close second.

William Olsen what EBMM did you buy mate? I’m very tempted. I love my guitars and am fortunate to have the usual suspects (plus an awesome Suhr telebird and Patrick Eggle’s Macon- check him out ). But a JP15 makes me salivate.

I acquired a StingRay, and I loved it so much I then bought a Cutlass. I have never felt at home on a neck like on a EBMM, so I am sold on these. I will admit the Cutlass is it's own beast so don't go thinking it will replace a strat, but it still sounds and plays great, but the subtle differences are there and I can tell the difference, but I have both, and I like them for different reasons tonally. Maybe a Suhr someday.

I think they play really well, it has a compensated nut, and nice stainless steel frets which I think makes the neck more comfortable. The trem on them is very smooth too, and stays in tune very well, and they obviously have locking tuners. Considering the care they put into the guitar the price is not that outrageous. I lucked out and found them used, but they were brand new as far as I am concerned.

Picked up a Billy Corgan model one day, and I have never been able to bring myself to put it down since. I've enjoyed Fender and Gibson; I still think they're great brands. For whatever reason, I found 'the one' in my Reverend. If you're on the search for your soulmate guitar and you've looked in all the usual places, check out Reverend. Side note: I emailed Reverend once with a question about rosewood, and who replied? Ken bloody Haas. That's like emailing PRS and having Paul get back to you.

Wow. Normally like Andertons, but... 1) Reverend kick Chapmans’ guitars asses, thus the Chapitude. 2) Missed the point of the Terz. Secret weapon. Stack it with a standard tuned guitar. Scalegivesyou better intonation resulting in fat clean tones. 3) Totally glossed over the best electric gig ready 12 on the market, The Airwave 4) Seem to miss the fact that Reverend are the only manufacturer I know of that make a line that affordable, gig ready, AND regularly take design chance to push the instrument forward.

@Dean Massalsky i can afford a chapman guitar easily. the reverend guitars are substantially higher. i played a couple of chapman guitars, and i did like them. i have not played a reverend, but since they are over twice the price i would have paid for a chapman, i would expect them to be "better" just sayin'

mojo something Totally valid point. I thought Chapman had several stratifications of their models though? In this review, they (Rob more-so) seemed stuck on a couple things, and missed a chance to dig deeper. I’m sure after doing all the reviews they do it wears down at some point, but the Terz and the Airwave are worth more than passing look. Anyway, just my opinion, which are some are on the intertubes :)

Rob is getting a bit of a beating in the comments for this (including from me, quite frankly), but The Captain called the Airwave the "Air 12.," and that's not exactly doing his due diligence either. I mean, he DOES sell them, correct, lol? Heck, it's even written "Air 12" in the gear descripton. I actually went to the Reverend web site to see if I had missed a new guitar coming out.

I have both a Chapman and a Reverend. Both great guitars but the Reverend is a beauty and easily my favourite.

@@mojobonbon the most expensive Reverend is about $1699. On average, their guitars can be had in the same range as a Chapman guitar with better quality control. Unless you’re PRS, being a small time guy like Chappers or Ola Englund just can’t afford the same caliber of overseas quality.

I own a Reverend Reeves Gabrels Spacehawk, and it's by far the best value guitar I have ever come across. It sounds like it might as well cost three times as much, and the build quality (and quality control) is on par with American Fenders or even better. Makes you wonder why certain brands in the same price range can't get their QC right... I'm looking at you, Rob!

The Don DeLuxe, I have the prototype Spacehawk in the pewter color. I think they only made six or eight in that color. It's an absolutely great playing and sounding guitar! I'll never part with it.

It indeed was a weird vibe. I think it would've been nice if the Guitar Paradiso guys had reviewed these. Heck, those guys basically played me into buying my Reverend two years ago, without me even playing it (and I've not for one day regretted it) and really have a great chemistry, no matter which pair is playing. The usual Captain and Chappers chemistry is sorely lacking here.

I own a Reverend. The railhammer pickups are great, the bass contour is great, the neck is great, the tuners are great. If I could choose again I would have got a model with the wilkinson trem and a maple fingerboard. I'd love if they would do a guitar with a 24 fret neck too, Super strat type, in Lefty!

You should call reverend's customer support. I did, asking if there was a roasted maple neck on the flamed orange double agent og 25th anniversary model like there is on the blue coloured one.There isn't, but firstly the dude at reverend put me through to the closest distributor to me (merchant city music in glasgow) and also contacted me a few days later and said they had a blue one at their factory and they would be happy to take the neck off it and put it on the orange body for me and ship it on their next order to the store, without me asking for this. They are such nice people. It might be worth giving them a ring and ya might just get your guitar :)

Hi Guys! I think you both missed a couple of important points on the Reverend guitars. My son and I each own one. My son has a Sensei and I have a Double Agent OG. First, the build quality on these guitars is excellent. We bought ours at Wildwood as we are lucky enough to live nearby those cool cats! My son was looking at an SG... and while each guitar sounded great and very different from each other, the Reverend was nearly half the price and was far better made! Second, the bass roll off control is very useful. If you have a bass heavy amp like a Hot Rod Deluxe or if you are on the neck pickup, you can use the control to clean up any woofiness and cut through a lot better. Even more importantly, for those who use fuzz, being able to control the amount of bass hitting a fuzz circuit can drastically alter the response and it's a hell of lot more convenient than using an eq pedal in front. No disrespect, but let Pete have one for a couple of weeks and then have him do a video. I do wish they offered a smaller / rounder fret board radius, but that is my only wish. All the best.

Rob's just jealous because Reverend actually has somewhat original looks and interesting twists like the rail-hammer pickups and the bass knob, while Chapmans are just rehashing other brands with fancy paint jobs.

That tuning is not called Nashville tuning though.. Nashville tuning is all the strings you'd add to a 12 string guitar. So the lowest 4 strings are up one octave. Perfect for doubling in the studio!

I like Reverend guitars, they have some lovely looking models and great colours too. My only criticism is that they have such a huge range that we don't get to see all of them in person here in the UK. I think Andertons (and others) can order them in but it's not as easy as picking one off the rack and giving it a go. Their purple Sensei is gorgeous.

I bought my Terz from Andertons and just realized this is my exact guitar. Rob shows the number when looking at the signature at 18 minutes and I just checked my guitar number. It’s the same. Neat!!

I own a Reverend Baritone (the Descent) and it's amazing! I played close to 8 different baritones before choosing the Reverend. Their bass roll off tone control makes it super versatile. The overall setup right out of the box was fantastic. Great build quality overall. I've become a huge fan of Reverend guitars in the last year.

How about we see Chapman innovate something, you know, rather than making tweaked facsimiles of existing well known guitars, and outsourcing the builds. And as for affordable... £400-£1200, that's the same range as most other guitar companies. Why would I pay £1200 for a Korean Strat copy when I could buy a Fender? What's next? Custom shop Chapmans for £2.5k???

Reverend guitars are really something else, I really dig them. Been debating with myself lately if I should buy a Reverend (a Jetstream 390 or a Double Agent) or a Fender Telecaster. I chose the latter, but the next one will be a Reverend for sure.

I have zero hands on experience with Reverends since no one local carries them unfortunately. From what Ive seen though, they look pretty cool. The double agent is the most visually appealing to me.

reverend makes some really cool stuff, like the volcano V or the descent baritone (which I love). plus they come with railhammer pickups which are a pretty underrated brand. I like the chisel bridge a lot.

@xWILZTAx You may prefer a Revstar, but, having played them both, I prefer the Sensei. Also, the Sensei, at least the model I bought, comes with an ebony fretboard which I much prefer to rosewood, and block inlays which I prefer over dots. I haven't played the Revstar with P-90s, and I admit that's a tempting guitar.

I bought a Gibson Les Paul, and you are correct you really cannot get that classic Gibson sound out of a Reverend, but I have to say the fret work on the Reverend is just as good if not better for a way cheaper price.

Even in something as simple as the headstock. There are so many alternate takes on the strat headstock, but I feel Reverend really nailed it. Different but familiar and interesting all at the same time. My old band had two songs capoed at the 4th fret (tuned down a 1/2 step). Sounds like the Terz was designed for us, lol.

Cool as funk guitars with echoes of wacky 60's Japanese space-age dreck sticks that had vibe forever. The Reverend build quality is great, the looks are familiar and funky and the bass roll-off control is a secret gain weapon of destruction.

It is nice to read their spec sheet and they take pride in every pot, nut etc. they use. More brands should really do that.......How many Gibsons have rubbish pots.........

I got the getstream 390 guys. I like it as good as any fender ,prs, les Paul or anything. Great quality. Unique, different. Locking tuners, pickups are great, bass contour nob , roasted maple neck. Tremolo bar is top quality. I highly recommend trying one out. You’ll see what I mean.

Pete Anderson has two models with this brand and I really trust his judgment. I also LOVED the 12 string. Modern and traditional in some strange sense.

Reverend took a while to grow on me, but now I love them. I really appreciate that they don't just recycle the Les Paul, Strat, Tele body shapes.

It might have some quirks but it seems to produce a really hearty warm tone, especially that Dirtbike. I'm not entire sure whether to credit the body construction or the Railhammer humbucker design. I also think it's cool that this brand seems to be offer guitars using different pickup combinations - Railhammers, P-90s, straight single-coil, etc. It seems strange for Rob sale's pitch to include so much criticism given his buddy Lee is trying to sell these instruments in his store.

I have not disliked a video in a long time, but Rob, it just seems you are looking for anything that doesnt suit you instead of focusing on what might work for others. I thought these were pretty good and I like what Reverend is doing overall. It would be something else if you were pointing out real flaws that would matter to anyone like finish quality, bad frets, poor sound, etc..

Cody Davis If you read what I put down that would help. Its one thing to find real flaws that we should know about. Its another thing when you are just trying to make an issue out of something thats not. I never said every product review should be complete praise. You could just see the reluctance Rob had to like these guitars. I dont see that when he talks about his stuff of course.

Rob's not required to love everything, but if they're going to do reviews, Rob could, at the least, learn a little bit about what he's reviewing. I like "out of the box" reviews as much as the next guy, but the F holes on the Airsonic are clearly explained on just about everything Reverend puts out about them, and it'd take either him or the Captain (who clearly didn't know what they were for either) about 20 seconds to read up about 'em. Call 'em ugly after, if you'd like, but at least know a little about them.

Ampeg's AEB1 bass had F holes that went all the way through. They came out in 1966. Rick Danko of Tha Band was known to play a fretless one.

So, Rob found 2 things that he didn't like (I disagree with him about the "f" holes, but agree regarding the heel joint), but liked pretty well everything else about these guitars and he's supposedly nitpicking and being a jerk. Or, at least, that's the way the comments seem to indicate. Of course, if everything he says is rosy and positive then he has no real opinions. Regarding the guitars, I like what I've seen of Reverend, and the ones I've tried certainly had a unique feel to them. Perhaps I'll find one yet that I feel the need to own.

that Dirt Bank has one balz sound! The gutarsare refreshing. They have their own look and sound without just getting weird. It would be reality easy with their very large line not to find a guitar that could not complement your style yet gives you tone that rivals all the Gibso and Fender like choices we are all using now. Add to that great fit. build and finish for a reasonable price.

I would like to see something on the Jenn Wasner signature Reverend. She's an artist that really inspires me. I love Wye Oak and she does some cool bass and guitar stuff. A Captain Meets perhaps when they come through jolly old England?

Danish Pete is also a better more well rounded guitar player, and he is just a cool guy to me. He is my favorite demo guy from Anderton's. Though I really did like the Captains interview with Albert Lee.

They’re chambered sides with an f-hole running through as a bit of a semi-functional design lark. It’s another example of Rob criticizing work he can’t be bothered to read up on. “Let me just plow through 10 videos unprepared, so I can just collect a check and move along.”

I have a Reverend Double Agent OG and love it. They do make quite nice guitars for the price. I enjoyed the video. But one of the reasons I watched was to hear opinions on the Blackwood Tek fingerboard on the Dirt Bike. I believe Reverend has gone exclusively to Blackwood from Rosewood and I'm looking at a couple of guitars, same model, one recent with Blackwood, one I believe from last year with Rosewood, and would like some opinions. Any thoughts guys?

I think the magnetic pull thing Is so minimal you would never tell. However when there is a single pickup there is less wood used up because there is no additional cavity so there is more resonance.

I wouldn't say idiots, but I certainly wasn't feeling like they were very unbiased opinions. What do you expect from a pair that brand their own design guitars? Should Paul Reed Smith sit there and review Gibson and Fenders? If the critique is unfavorable, you'll always look like your biased to your own brand. However, shouldn't you be perhaps since you sell guitars with your name on them? Once you have a vested interest in your own brand, should you really be reviewing guitars for the general public any more? Just a thought.

Rob- 20:30 Some people like the square heel design. I own a Chapman ML1 Pro Modern. Still prefer the neck heel on my Chinese Strat. There's more mass. Cheers.

Yo chill out peeps. I don't care if they are mediocre or amazing guitar players. If they demo a guitar I'd appreciate a great recording setup, the amps that were used being mentioned and a guitar tone that is not covered in chorus. That is all. So stop the bash!
