Very nice. In 2013 we bought a house north of houston on a street named Santa Elena Canyon not knowing where the name came from. About a year later we took our RV and Jeep to Big Bend and stumbled across the gorge for which our street was named! Nice seeing it again in your video.. We need to revisit Big Bend.

Boyfriend and I did about 5 days of Big Bend over thanksgiving break. We were at Terlingua Ranch the night before going. We camped off Old Ore Rd mostly. Absolutely loved the views and the hiking. Beautifully done video!

I've hiked up to Emory Peak and the Window Trail a couple times. Absolutely beautiful. My first time to see Bears in the wild. The hot springs were pretty relaxing. I still have so much I want to do there.

Greetings from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, home of the New West 🇨🇦 The music at the beginning of the video is amazing! It fits the landscape perfectly as if I teleported there instantly. Well darn it, I was in Big Bend Ranch State Park across FM170 just west of BBNP. we held or annual Ultra trail run Saturday 1/16 (yesterday). we ran up into the caldera of the solitario and back out to Barton Warnock Visitors Ctr. in Lajitas. there is overloading opportunities here also. I enjoyed your vid

I went there late December and it was so hot during the day. Too funny, I didnt know it was illegal to buy the Mexican crafts....I put money in a jar for 2 hiking sticks! 😂

We went to Big Bend last year in the fall and it was perfect outside. We also didn’t realize how massive or pretty Big Bend is.

This is awesome, we were just there and camped for the last 5 days at Glen Springs 2 campsite. Unfortunately we didn't have the warm weather you had but it was a beautiful park to explore.

One of the most beautiful places! I go there for a week once a year, For the last 8 years. Still haven't seen everything. State park has harder trails btw

I went and camped in the basin with some of my college buddies early january after the big snowfall, did not reach above 32 degrees the whole trip. We were not prepared but stuck it out.

Next time you need to camp in the Chisos Mountain campground. The stars are unreal. Take a telescope or just watch satellites go by with the naked eye.

I did Big Bend solo for the Christmas weekend. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. I ran the whole of Old Ore Road, and actually like it more than Black Gap. It’s just as “technical” in spots, and there’s some incredible vistas. Hiking up into the Chisos was great too

BBNP is big and you need several days to see it. The first time we went was in February and if you like the Texas flower Bluebonnets, you will get to see a lot of them. I would recommend you checking out Big Bend Ranch State Park while you are there. It is bigger and less maintained. They also have Free Showers at the ranger station which were awesome! The drive from Study Butte to BBRSP is awesome as well. As usual, I really enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing, see you in NM! Be sure to check out the El Malpais National Monument near Grants. It's a lot of fun!

Loved the video! Next time you get the chance, head over to the state park. No paved roads, and a few EXQUISITE campsites... I recommend Guale 2 and Pila Montoya 3 personally.

I did black gap a few months back and I struggled for some reason, I see a lot of rigs and they just seem to walk up. Maybe my longer wheel base vehicle was the reason. Not sure

We had plans to head down there right after Christmas. Instead we headed over to Canyonlands NP to photograph it covered in several inches of fresh snow. Those seventy degrees days sound a bit more tolerable than the zero degrees we dealt with. But the sun did shine .... Nice work!

Looks like I missed you all by a couple of days, I camped in Glenn Springs my first night and it was perfect. Thanks for showing the area way better than my few videos and photos do. Not much 4wd action in the park, but happy the trails keep the backcountry pretty empty.

That is a great part of the country for exploring in the winter. We lived in Texas for 15 years and spent alot of time in that Big bend area. We are looking forward to see where you are headed in NM. My wife and I are both from the Land of Enchantment. You will love it!

We didn't see much wildlife, unfortunately. The biggest thing we saw were the javelina!

Sounds like you just missed the huge snow dump of December 30th! Nice content. The Chisos had about 14" of snow.

We did! I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. We really enjoyed the weather, but snow would have been cool too! We actually barely stayed ahead of that winter storm on the way home.

I can remember when it was perfectly legal to get a canoe crossing and walk around Boquillas, have lunch, buy a few souvenirs. We can thank George Bush the younger for putting and end to that.

They normally have crossings there, but it was all closed due to the Mexican border being closed!

The people that make these decisions have access to far more information than a lifelong Republican, (Theory of Bounded Rationality, simply put, you don’t know enough to know). They have what you call a dog in the fight, as opposed to being a casual observer. It was always a kick to see new people get enlightened when they started getting their security briefings. You know, the ones you never got. When people start assigning blame when attacks happen, these are the people that catch hell, even if the attack wasn’t preventable.

Another BBNP overview from the front seat of a 4WD. Although better photographed than many such travelogs, if you don't spend significant part of your time hiking, biking or boating, you miss most of what the park has to offer.

Great video! Nice OG 4Runner set up. I have a 2010 Trail that we will be traveling in. We're heading there in 2 weeks. What would you say the distance is for the Black Gap trail and how long did it take you all to travel it?

Black Gap is 8.5 miles, and probably took a couple of hours including stops. It'll take you a few more hours getting to and from Black Gap too.

It was between 35 and 45 overnight. Most of the park's backcountry campsites were available while we there. The ones online through recreation.gov were all taken!

Your 4Runner, does it have differential lockers or only ATrack? With the tend on the roof, is it stable? Does it has a 3 in lift kit? The bumpers, is it heavy? Was necessary to cut part of the body to install it? I bought one 2010 in good conditions but with high mileage and I will start to preparer it to do trips like you are doing. Thanks to share yours videos, I appreciate it!

I really enjoyed your video.. i plan to head there in the future, but I will have a Winnebago RV Van Revel is as 4x4 and can the van be able to handle the road? I will be solo most likely, Do I need and guard of the bottom or winch or extended gas tank, Im diesel

Most of the roads would be fine. We saw a Sprinter van on the river road while we were there. The Glenn Springs campsite and Black Gap Road would be far too tough and tight though!

What air compressor are you using. I'm looking to get one. I know about ARB but that's not what you seem to be using.

I have the Viair 88p. It's a great compressor, and a great price!

It can do up to 100 psi I believe. It gets very hot though, so make sure you have something to store it in!
