Hi Penny'sCrew , looks like you made the best decision on the firewall . I've heard and seen the wheelbarrow firewall in the past too . Back in the early '80 's , in Street Rodder magazine there were sometimes advertisements for Granny's Old Fashioned Canned Axe . At one time they did offer a "kit " to used a piece of plywood for a firewall . I am 100% sure it was called , The Sunday Afternoon Kit . And now lets get back to regular programming , hope Thanksgiving was great , thanks for posting !

Didn’t Bitchin’ Products supply a “wheel barrow “ firewall back in the 80’s ? The days of smoothie Hotrods & Billet Aluminum. I much prefer Old School traditional, they never date.

@@pennyshotrodscustoms Hi Guys ,Thanksgiving was going to the "Big City " with Lori and our dog Buddy , meeting with our boys at a park and having KFC . After getting home it was sand more plastic filler outside and get things done before the weather turn bad on Wednesday .

@@geofo60 Hi Geof , Greg here ...I recall Bithin' Products but don't remember such a kit being available . They did make a great bunch of replacement sheetmetal of high quality . I agree with the Old Skool Traditional look . Thanks for the info on the wheel barrow kit !

I don't believe that the old hemis are all that powerful, but they make the COOLEST open-hood hot rod engine ever! Followed closely by the 409/348.
@pennyshotrodscustoms3 жыл бұрын
I think we can get 400 hp out of it. and yes one of the coolest.

@@pennyshotrodscustoms Ok, if you can get to 400 hp that's significant. Not to mention, FUN in a vehicle that small and light! How on earth do you people keep your driver's licenses?

Guy ... back in the day (mid 50s) the hemi was about 180 hp with a 2 bbl carb. Not huge by today's standards but lots of torque, which is why they were also used for industrial applications. Not hard to get 250 - 300 hp with just carb and exhaust work. IOW, a good base engine for any project. OTOH, they were not as plentiful as GM and Ford small blocks so aftermarket stuff was scarce back then.

When I was typing my comment I was going to say you could make make it right hand drive !🤣🤣🤣 Great minds think alike! You guys will just have to go through the drive thru in reverse! Go Penny's!

We were thinking of getting a firewall from Australia and reversing it, then the hole for the stearing would be on the correct side.

Before you weld it there was good article I read i think street rodder mag y that made the top of the crowd removable for wire and gauge and ac work that dropped back in and held with a couple of screws that looked like a very handy idea.

We have not welded it yet. I will have to look and see if I can find that article.

Paint your firewall black and white checker board like everyone did in the 50,s I did mine and love it, everyone at car shows talks about how good it looks

Looks good. Wondering why after you flipped the firewall, you folks didnt cut it at the top of the bend where the floor board starts across to the center , up and over the relief and back across. Flip that whole lower section around and the column slot and floor board angle is back where it was, albeit a bit further back in the cab, plus you get some carb or distributor clearance if needed. Subscribed.
@pennyshotrodscustoms3 жыл бұрын
Actually never thought of it. We will have to take a look. Thank you Jaws.

Hello my Canadian Brothers, man it would be great if every fire well was that easy to push back. I have a question for you guys is that the baby Hemi 392 or is that the 426 it's hard to tell from the picture? Well I remember back in the day you could find 392 Hemi working in a ditch somewhere pumping water for the farm fields, they were so abundant back in the day I mean even when I was coming up building cars in the early seventies 426 Hemi's were hard to find. I guess that's because all the drag racers were grabbing them up. That's okay though a 440 will do in a pinch. Interesting fact for for you guys didn't know if you knew or not. Henry Ford used gilsonite to paint his frames, it's inexpensive and it works great. Love the work that you're doing on that Beast, I'm sure she's going to turn out just beautiful. So what are you thinking you're going to narrow a 9-inch for that or what? Okay my brothers I'll be looking for more videos keep them coming, everything looks great. Stay safe stay well and as always God bless.
@pennyshotrodscustoms3 жыл бұрын
The Hemi is a 331 industrial from a water pump. We are still up in the air about the rear end, we have the 9" and also a rear end out of a 52 Ford truck. We have rims to fit the 52 rear but not the 9", but the 52 is wider also? We will fiqure it out. Thank you again for watching Joseph.
@MakinEndsMeet693 жыл бұрын
@@pennyshotrodscustoms 331 Hemi you know I'll bet that's what was running all those water pumps down in Florida in the farm fields that I wasn't so sure about, one thing for sure I did know they were hemi's. Thanks for that though I appreciate it. I wonder if Chrysler will ever bring back a 426 new style??? All right guys take it easy, stay safe stay well and as always God bless. PS I'll have a short video coming up in the near future, nothing like yours that's for sure.
