I review this 2009 Audi TTS that has the APR Stage 2 modifications done to it. Huge thanks to Paul for driving from Ohio for me to review this! What do you think about it?

I kinda want one of these! I really like the look of the new TTs, they're like a baby R8.

I can attest owning a 2009 tts stage 2+ that it really does kinda feel like a v8 R8. I mean there is certainly difference in the drivetrain but given the fact the cabin (especially in the convertible tts) is practically identical its pretty close.

HighMagnitudeGT ok? that transmission is completely different than the lousy 8 speed in the Vette. You'll click the paddle and it takes forever to up and downshift. The new 10 speed was developed with Ford's help, its not all GM.

Great review. Enjoy watching how much fun you have. I test drove one, and it was a blast. I thought it was extremely confidence inspiring in the corners, transmission was amazing and high quality build. Chassis felt like it was one solid piece. I was able to accelerate through and out of the corners, but I don't drive at 10/10th, probably 8/10th. I like how the only negative thing reviewers can say about the handling is that it's not a Cayman....I guess it's a compliment when you are compared to the best. I think it is great for 95% of people that do not go all out or competitively track it. Although Motorweek said it was very inspiring and easy to drive on track.

I have been watching for years and first I must say Matt I really respect your work. However this video got me thinking about an aspect of the car we are missing. How the car sounds from the outside. Now I know you have a gopro for the exhaust notes but I can't help but feel like a rolling exterior shot or like a "flyby" style clip would be beneficial as far as hearing the exhaust and the upshift noises. Anyway it's just something I have noticed. Thank you for your great content!
@MattMaranMotoring
@MattMaranMotoring 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven, I appreciate the feedback! I do several extensive rolling shots in many of the cars I review that I have for a longer period of time, primarily like the press cars I get for a week. There's a few different reasons why I don't do drive-by outside shots. The first is that they take a lot more time and work to do when I'm by myself. I'm a one man crew and have time constraints when people lend me their personal car, so getting in and out and driving back and forth over and over again is a lot of extra time. Also, being by myself means I'd have to leave an expensive camera on the side of the road and hope nobody takes it. Unfortunately I don't have access to private or deserted back roads, so dealing with traffic is another consideration. Maybe one day I'll have the luxury of having someone on hand to help film these types of shots for me, but right now it's not possible sadly.
@stevenjohn6491
@stevenjohn6491 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the reply. I absolutely understand your points. I guess I forgot the fact that you are a one man crew. That totally makes sense to me why you wouldn't be able to get the shots, especially considering the short time you have with the car. Anyway thank you again for the content and your reasoning behind your work.

Amazing review Matt! From a personal and opinionated buyers stand point, I would buy this, but if anything goes wrong, Audi parts are not cheap to replace. Otherwise this car is amazing, coming with AWD Quattro or FWD making it a great for winter, great interior and practicability, honestly a really great car, just the maintenance may or may not be a pain. Reason why it may or may not be is everyone has a different experience.

It’s a 2013 Audi tts prestige, it’s about as fast maybe a hair faster than a 370z. It’s a small turbo 4 cylinder car. The tune wakes it up a lot. I’ve heard that some stage 2+’s are breaking into the low 3 second to 60 range which is wonderful. I’m not sure what mine does yet. I had issues with my downpipe install (it’s on now) but it’s sat me back by quite a bit.

I have a 2009 TTS. I love it... but it burns about a quart of oil every 1400 miles. Any idea what kind of oil consumption the owner of this car is experiencing?

All Audis burn oil by design, the harder you drive the more you will burn. If you drive around like Miss Daisy you wont use any up.

@@zipz8423 why do some cars burn oil by design? The Honda I had before my TTS was the same, is it better for the pistons or engine as a whole? Higher oil pressure causes it maybe?
@zipz8423
@zipz8423 3 жыл бұрын
@@paulstevens9409 Yes indeed, but that was only part of the design thinking. It wasnt perfect. The main reason is to increase fuel MPG by reducing overall friction in the engine, which means more oil will pass the oil control and compression rings around the pistons. The downside is higher oil consumption- it`s a trade off. It is better for the upper cylinder walls but not for the spark plugs or the catalytic converter on high mileage engines. The best way to help yourself is to allow the car to warm up first before engaging warp drive :P

I have had 2 TTRSs, I found them to be a bit trickier to drive on the limit than the TTS, which in Mk3 guise is still a bit sketchy especially in the rain.
