The Usher tribute was bad, he should have done his own like Mary J Blidge did in 2019 BET Awards and wish they performed can you get with it. What happened to the Humanitarian Award, And no Gospel segment? You have Dr. Bobby Jones there and there wasn’t anything to cater to that age group smh. I appreciate them giving Usher the Lifetime Achievement Award due to his 30 year career, but they need to see that there are still living legends from the 60s/70s/80s who deserve that award. This young generation needs to know about those artists like we did growing up watching these awards shows

The issue with the BET Awards is that they’re constantly trying cater to the young ratchets with the Sexy Redd, Latto, Glorilla, Ice Spice, etc. and that’s not the audience that watches the show. The audience that watches the show is like 30+. The best part of the show was Lauren Hill.

I give this year show a B-. The only thing I wish is we more male performers, but overall, it was good show. The dancers did their thing, the set designs were good, and a lot of these artists put their all into it.

Male R&B is lacking in showing new talent because it’s there! However, the women excelled and Usher is known as a ladies' man so it’s fitting that women perform. BET could've featured a stage mix with the women of “emerging” male artists like Destin Conrad, Arin Ray, Josh Levi, Lucky Daye, Tone Smith, and R&B groups like WanMor and No Guidnce to highlight Usher's influence. That way the general audience can see who’s new.
