People complain about the death of affordable cars, and then they just refuse to buy perfectly acceptable family transportation like the Sentra. Anybody eying a Mirage should raid the couch cushions and force the upgrade to a Sentra. These are phenomenal value compared to the rest of the new market. Next up, I would say that Subaru offers a lot of value in their base models, which you can factory order, and usually get below MSRP with good promotional financing rates. If Accountant Bradley wants to complain about how inflation is killing him while commuting in an F-150, perhaps he should look at something like this.

@@c-square7375 I actually think the Mazda3 is slightly bad value for what you get. I like Mazda's 6-speed auto a lot, but I'm not above buying a good CVT at all, especially in the economy segment. A front-wheel drive Mazda3 starts only $800 less than an AWD CX-30, for some reason.

I have had a 2020 Sentra SV for 6 months now. I really like it. Before I had a hybrid Ford Fusion. My Sentra is just a few inches smaller in all dimensions than a mid-size, but so much easier park or drive on a tight backroad. I'm averaging the same as you got 26mpg in hilly, suburban driving, but on road trip, high 30's almost 40mpg easily. Lastly I should mention Nissan's do have drive modes but many people miss it: Look for a small, white, "-" button on the back of the shift knob. Press it and "Ds" will appear on the dash it will hold revs, good for engine braking or sporty driving.

I bought one at the end of January (SV). I like commuting with it. I took a longer trip on vacation and it was great. Those seats are awesome, especially for this class of car. Surprisingly quiet, and great fuel economy. Not the fastest thing on the road but there are other cars for the "need for speed" crowd. It is fast enough to merge on and keep up with freeway traffic. And significantly less expensive than the competition!

I just rented one for a week on a business trip. I am really impressed by it and it popped up to the top of my list for my replacement car. It would be my last gas car before my state supposedly switch to electric. Nissan has done a good job with the exterior design - it's a very good looking car inside and out. The only thing I do not like is the infotainment unit display. It's a bit small by today's standard and its angle does not have a bias towards the driver seat - looking at driving direction requires a much wider turn of head than I expected.

As others mentioned, Nissan needs to make cars for car people again. If you are going to do a performance version of the Sentra, then do it right...build a modern rendition of the SER Spec-V, offer brilliant handling from the factory, and give it a manual transmission and an engine that is 250+ HP. Without doing this, the car is not even on the radar for sport compact shoppers/buyers. I owned a 2004 Spec-V, and it humiliated quite a few more expensive vehicles...it was nimble, and borderline fast when talking stock vs stock vehicles. We need to stop drinking the Kool-aid that Android Auto and Apple Carplay are the new measures of a vehicles worth. The latest generation Sentra and Altima are really nice looking cars (especially in the Orange or Blue), but they don't have the performance chops to match or back up the looks. That being said, at least they still build these types of cars, unlike Ford who abandoned the majority of their customer base in favor of $100K trucks and SUVs or Electric Mustangs they can't afford (or don't actually want).

Other than the available tech., nothing underrated about it. Compact car class, it is literally the slowest out of all of its competitors. So much so that Nissan didn't even bother putting paddle shifters onto the back of the steering wheel. Looks sporty on the outside. *VERY* sporty looking on the inside, but doesn't have the power or torque to back up those genuinely cool looks and sporty styling. Parent company that owns Nissan, also owns Jatco. So the Sentra is stuck with the least reliable CVT in the industry. Also, it occupies an odd spot in Nissan's line-up. If you need a sub-compact, economy sedan, the Nissan Versa is the cheapest car you can buy in America. It's also slow, but it's an economy car. Bigger size and more power than the Sentra, you've got the costlier Nissan Altima. What's the point of the Sentra? Nissan still refuses to give the highest trim Sentra SR a turbo-charger for more power. You want a basic commuter vehicle, buy the Versa. You want one with more room and power, in exchange for more money, buy the Altima. You want something stuck in the middle of those two, why?! Heck even the Versa's center stack is better laid out than the Sentra's.

Look, I love the ES 330, even the ES 350 and they are very reliable. But while the Lexus will be quieter, and a little faster, the Sentra is modern, very good drivers assistance, headlights, decent infotainment. However, I think the new Nissan kicks is bad ass, I would mob that any day.

Not a bad looking car if you don't mind it lasting no more than 60,000 miles because of the bad cvt transmission

If you take care of the CVT and do maintenance they last long as a conventional transmission....if you don't dog it from a stop, that helps it last as well

385,000 people bought a Tesla Model Y in 2023. The fifth best selling vehicle in the U.S. I wouldn't buy one because Musk, but to say "No one wants electric vehicles" is silly at best.
