would you rate this lens better than that of a 4x plan microscope objective lens as in like better quality throughout , my main use is to image slime moulds also what is the working distance at 4x and 5x ? cheers keith

Hi Keith, you say this lens is better than the MP-E65. In what specific aspects is it better? Thanks.

Two different lenses so not a clear-cut 'win'. I'll include more info in the written notes when I've finished them [my videos are usually only supplements to any written article] The MP-E goes to 1x so if I needed 1-2x x I'd be using the MP-E The OOF highlights look better since the rounded aperture blades of the astrhori don't have some of the harshness you can get from the six blades of the MP-E There is almost no CA with the Astrhori Of course, the MP-E works on my 50MP 5DS, whilst the RF one won't. The MP-E is also quite a lot bigger, which can cause issues sometimes. The Astrhori is quite a bit cheaper too ;-)

@@KeithCooper Thanks a lot Keith. More than 20 years later there is still no complete replacement, from Canon or any other brand, for the MP-E 65. Much less for the GFX system. I continue to use the adapted MP-E.

@@ateliercunha2876 Yes - no rush to get rid of my MP-E! The RP+Astrhori is just a lot smaller/portable - it will have some uses.
