If you are new here, I'm so glad you're here! I'm a 3rd year homeschooling mom of 5 boys (ages 7, 6, 4, 2 and 5 months!). We have homeschooled from the very beginning when my oldest was kindergarten age, but even three years in I'm still learning about this homeschool mom gig. Thanks so much for the detailed review. I'm a first time homeschooler of an autistic 1st grader and I'm beyond nervous. I think this may be exactly what I'm searching for. I also appreciate you highlighting the diversity of the readers. This is something that's always appreciated.

Thank you so much for this! My daughter is considerably older however her dyslexia and some other learning difficulties we are starting on Level 1 soon.

I tried to go inexpensive with an old school cheap workbook but being I was not taught phonics we are struggling! This looks pretty darn good. Makes me think of the SCM Bible memory verse to help memorize, good job mama 👏

Thank you for this ! My almost 7yo is a struggling reader and is finishing up her (hopefully) last round of speech therapy. This program is definitely SUPER expensive but from your review, I'd say it's definitely worth it. Thank you again for posting this ❤

It is the most expensive curriculum I’ve ever purchased BUT after seeing how my son responded to it so much differently than others I cannot recommend it enough. They also offer a full money back guarantee if it doesn’t work for you!! My son was in speech therapy for 3.5 years and it definitely plays a role in his ability to learn to read but he is making such huge progress & that’s what matters!

Thank you for this! Teaching my daughter to read is so intimidating and I have a Master’s degree 😂😂 thank you for saying it’s hard for the parent and the child. I so appreciate you keeping it real. I’ve been considering this curriculum but haven’t seen a good review video until now. Thank you thank you thank you!

That’s so true! I said the same thing to my mother the day, “law school was easier than teaching my son to read😩”

I love the readers for All about Reading, and we have used the All about Spelling. But $$$ 😱😱 eBay is my best friend. Definitely check used before buying new. Especially for curriculum junkies like me. 😂💕💕

I hadn’t thought of eBay!! My part 2 of this video helps me justify the expense in my home BUT eBay is a BRILLIANT idea!!!! 🤯🤩

It is 160 dollars to buy just the level one set. But I think it is definitely worth the price!! I will be ordering it myself for my son. Cool thing is if you have more than one child you can just make copies of the workbook and other stuff as you end up having to remove the pages anyways. I pland to laminate some of the cut and paste pages and use velcro on them. That way they can last longer and I can use it for when my younger some is ready. Oh, there is a level before level 1. It is for preschool I believe. It costs 100 dollars. The prices I posted are what their web site say but i did not include taxes or s&h.

Yes! I have another video where I show how I prep it to use for multiple children. That’s similar to what I did! It’s absolutely worth the price.

I started with my youngest last year..she is 7 and I just can't get through it..we are doing pre-reading and she still doesn't know her alphabet..because I just don't understand what I'm doing I'm confused...and just lost.

Is AAR enough for first grade language arts or would I need to add anything in for grammar/reading comp?

It does include some reading comprehension. If you want additional grammar I’d recommend copy work or journal prompts ☺️👍🏻

I thought the same thing and decided to buy Beyond the Code to go along with it because it focuses on Reading Comprehension. You read a story and answer questions. For copy work, we are doing Teach your Child Shakespeare. Basically I’ll have him write simple poems. He’s a first grader so we will copy one line per session in a poem journal/notebook. Hope this helps :)

Thank you for such a great review. I wanted to ask since I am a first time homeschool mom. I was planning to do Abeka curriculum next year with my daughter who will be 5 then and I know that program comes with reading material. So, I wonder if getting all about reading curriculum will be too much or not necessary since Abeka has it own reading program? My daughter already know all her letters and their sounds. Thank you, I hope my question makes sense.

I am not entirely familiar with Abeka but I know many rave about it so I imagine it would be solid enough to use as a stand alone reading curriculum ☺️
