Join me as I review some AMAZING new fruity coloured cases for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k, along with some Coloured keymats and new faceplate colours too. Also includes GLOW IN THE DARK and smoked/clear transparent cases.
We also test fit a Spectrum board into one of the cases and fit a new membrane from the same supplier!

Nice video Mark! I may get one of the silver faceplates as I was just given an issue one 48k spectrum from a kind man on freegle, I had to adjust the colour on it but it works great now.

Just found you Mark, and i have got my old speccie out i know only half the keyboard works so i have ordered a membrane but those retro cases wow, i'm back in 1983 again. i just wish i had kept the old software Sid...

i have ordered the zxhd and divmmc thats on the way but radiotronics are a bit slow in sending the new keyboard & cover

Yes. Djordje is just one guy, and he's in China. ZX Renew is faster if they have stock. It is a waiting game though.

They do look lovely. I popped over to the ZXRenew site but they don't have cases on the page. Does anyone know if they'll be in stock or should I look at ordering from retroradionics instead?

Part of me wants all of these. Another part of me wants to convince someone to make new cases for the second/128/Amstrad era spectrums.

People do keep asking Djordje to make other cases, but it's a VERY costly process. All of these are made and organised by ONE MAN!

@@MarkFixesStuff Fair play to him for taking the time to do them then. A few years ago when I was looking for replacement cases for a spectrum that worked but had a smashed case, I couldn't find anywhere selling them. I ended up buying a non working model and used the case from that and the internals for parts. It's amazing how many useful little things the retro community has come out with in just the past two years or so.

Yes. It's usually a real labour of love for these guys. The obvious cash-in companies usually fail, but the driven individuals are the ones who make these things happen.

It's a shame RetroRadionics don't appear to do replacement cases for the +, +2, +3 or CPC range. Also, you say the transparent case, silver faceplate and white keyboard looks like a museum piece, to me it looks like a pre-release prototype (which is problematic, I'm sure some Jimmy Savile scalpers will be ordering these cases and going to eBay and Gumtree with L@@K EXTRA RARE PROTOTYPE GET IT NAO!!!!!!!! Also, it has to be asked, in honour of the Warsaw Pact clones, which colour combo would you say looks the most... ...Soviet?

Aye, I already have some of the faceplates and keymats, I was going to spray paint an original case but it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped... :(

Easier to get a new one. Probably work out cheaper too - certainly if you factor in your time.

I really think they should make replica cases again, or at least with a logo so you know it isn't from the original factory.

I also thought they should make a case that has the space bar at the bottom, but fitting the original motherboard, they'd need to make a membrane and faceplate to suit it though.

Red always looks too toy to me. Smoke and gold chic. Next it'll be rbg led mods. Is the next ever gone be out. Good if a new machine could upscale graphics Attribute wise (like zxpoly and special colour modes like in demo scene) or am I just dreaming.

+Lee H mate... RGB LED mods already exist! Google for Byte Delight :P Also, the French love a red computer...
