In this video, I review the Yan Ling Dao that was sent to me for testing by LK Chen. This dao was inspired by a 17th century original from Peter Dekker's collection. With the modified hilt, the sword cuts and handles very well.

Great cutting as always! You make me look like a noob with my water bottle cutting 😂

I love the look of the design. The quality is very clear to see! The cutting was effortless a combination of a good sword and an expert handler.

I found the grip somewhat uncomfortable as well. I prefer my hand by the guard rather than further down but have has to learn to use this sword that way. Also feels much better with glove. But it is a fantastic sword and I love mine. I did several reviews on my channel of some LK Chen swords lately. I am no where near your skill. Very impressive. I got Tatami now and will be trying cutting that for the first time soon.

Thanks for the review. I've got a similar dao from some unknown Chinese manufacturer. It has also got the issue with the metal fitting being very uncomfortable. That's why I also tend do grip the hilt lower. The blade on mine seems a bit broader though and the thickness goes from ca. 7.3 to 3.4 millimeters. It's also heavier at around 1.15-1.2kg, iirc. How stiff is the blade of the yan ling dao?

I’m no expert, but your cutting style and combination cuts were exceptional compared to other KZfaq channels. Kind of sad that LK couldn’t have used real leather on the scabbard. Vegan leather just sounds cheap, no matter how you slice it (pun intended).
