Hi thanks for stopping by, please ask questions and if you could stay in touch and subscribe, my mission is to have a light-hearted look at all things travel Motorcycle, petrol-electric and water, we ll a mix of those things, sort of. I'm growing the channel ready for a big trip across Australia which was postponed due to some pandemic. spoiler alert, if I didn't like it I would have changed it for something else, but thinking about it there is still time. a KTM? OMG what is wrong with me..

Right now i have a Honda Silverwing 2010 scooter and it is time for a used bike. I have been looking at the BMW gt 650. Cuz you can manually switch gears or have it automatic. As you know the Silverwing is belt driven my bike hauls ass when i need to. i think from 0 to 60 mph i can get it to 65 in about 6.5 sec. NO mods on the exhaust . I have blown away cars from stop and they are amazed how fast this bike can go. But my bike has LOTS of wear n tear at 34.500 miles Thanks for the review That blind spot indicater is something NEW that i have not seen on scooters til now. From the U.S.A.

mine was a replacement for the Silverwing as I said in the other comment, no manual shift its just twist and go, I really did like the Silverwing and would have had another scooter from Honda, I tried the ADV but it was sluggish and has the same engine as the NC750. chug chug chug

@@SmileyoureonTV I thought the BMW 650 had BOTH Like the Burgman 650 automatic & manual. I did ride a fellow scooter riders Burgman 650 once. It felt so much different then the drive belt that i have been acustome to. But i did like the feeling of the transmission on the B 650 less work on it.. I LOVED your review! I am seriously considering another one of these. I had one of the first ones that can to the states, and I liked it.....until I read an article about the "Excessive cost of Maintenance" for them.....and specifically the OUTRAGEOUS cost of the 20,000 mile service!!! $2,000.00 ??? Seriously? FOR WHAT? That.....is an out and out rip off. SO....I sold it. But I agree with you that this scooter is way before it's time, and does a lot of things extremely well. Any thoughts?

Find someone that works on motorcycles cuz this BMW is just about the same a regular bike. My Brother helps me out with my Honda Silverwing scooter cuz i am NOT mechanically inclined. i would not go to a dealer unless i need a new tire and then i pay them to install it.

You stated the bike has "Z" rated tires, it does not. It comes with "H" rated tires. I looked all over the web for "Z" rated tires in size 160/60/15, and could not find any. BMW needs to either have some made and available for sale or delete that spec from the bike. Would like to know your thoughts.

@SmileyoureonTV
@SmileyoureonTV 3 жыл бұрын
thats an interesting question, its a water cooled bike and the fan cuts in at about 100 degrees c the hotter the day the more the fan runs when not moving, the moment you move the temperature sits as low as 83c, there are two radiators only one has a fan fitted, so I guess BMW are not too worried regards the temps

I bought a C650 sport and have been really pleased with it apart from when I took it in for a service at 2000 miles and they said the chain needed adjusting at a cost of £114 (yes 2000 miles and £114 to adjust). I am at the moment in dispute with BMW as I think its a piss take. The service which is only an oil and filter and brake fluid change is well over £200 another piss take. So beware if you are thinking of buying one as apparently it gets more expensive with age.

@@Ghostrider2080 Thanks for your interest Ghost rider but dealers other than greedy authorised retailers cannot re set the service indicator so you end up with a dodgy service record and possible problems with any warranty claim. I owned a 2014 BMW C650GT and loved the bike until at 20,000 miles I had to change out the CVT Belt. It was a $200 dollar belt when it left Taiwan, $400 when it left Germany, and $800 when it was put on my bike. With labor the Total was $1400 in 2016 dollars. Today, I can't imagine $$$. I decided that was not sustainable and traded that in for my present bike, a BMW F 700 GS. However, that was still my favorite bike of about 12 I've owned over the years, (five were BMW's). I have missed it ever since. I still keep the scooter as my background picture on my iPhone. The engine was great, and I was able to keep up with the leaders on my club rides in Washington State (upper left hand corner of the US). The big RT bikes were always amazed when they followed me through the sweepers. I'm 65 now and am having trouble getting on and off the GS. If they were still available new I'd get another one now, even knowing what a pain it might be to get parts if Taiwan was ever invaded by its larger neighbor. The engineering was German. Their mistake was teaching KYMCO how to make a great Maxi Scooter. Now you could cut out the middle man and get a KYMCO AK 550. They supposedly are here in the US now. Good luck trying to find one.
