Awesome video. Nice to see the place where my Office Lever was born 😊 I've bought mine from you guys around 6 months ago and must have pulled close to 1,000 shots already. Great espresso! Loving it.

Thank you for another great video. I always like to see you guys and it was nice to see where my machines have been built. I have two Expobar machines in use, a Lever single boiler (which is labeled Macafe) and a Brewtus 4. The Lever I took apart completely for descaling. It was such a hassle to get the heating element out of the boiler. They are using such a harsh glue that I had to go to a car workshop to get it out. Also for these guys it was not easy to get it loose. At fixing the boiler it got some dents but fortunately it survived. Descaling would be so much easier if there would be an opening at the bottom of the boiler. Why aren't they building it in? BTW I found a screw in the boiler... When I bought the Brewtus 4 the water what came out of the machine had a disgusting taste. My dealer was not helpful at all and when I wrote an email to Crem/Expobar they just said I should solve that problem with my dealer. So not helpful at all. In the end I used the Lever again and put the Brewtus into my business and flushing for HALF A YEAR until it became useable (I am not sure if I harmed my health at that time). Maybe they should be less generous with glue and grease building the machines... Then after some month I had a problem with the solenoid valve. Unfortunately I had to take half of the machine apart (taking out one of the boilers) to replace it... They are the bad experiences I made with Expobar. On the other hand they are great machines, I love them, they make really good coffee, especially the Brewtus. For a new Expobar machine my wish list would be: - Timer-PID which is build in other machines (with an OLED display with black background?) - easy emptying of the boiler(s), (an opening at the bottom) - warning BEFORE the water reservoir is empty. It is always annoying when the machine is switching off while I am pulling a shot - easier to repair, e.g. using a PTFE gasket for sealing the heating element instead of that super glue. It works fine in my lever now... The bottom of the machine should maybe a removable lid, ok somewhere things have to be fixed. But maybe there is a solution... - more care that the hoses before and after the vibration pump are not hitting the housing to make the machine more silent. In general less rattling... Maybe putting in a membrane regulator. I put one into my Brewtus, that made it much more silent. Now it's nearly as silent as a rotary pump machine... - Using stainless steel instead of copper. I prefer unleaded espresso... - the plastic tamper is useless. It not even has the right diameter... Thank you Todd for all the great repair videos. Without them I would have never dared to take a machine apart. You have been such a great help!

I have been researching to buy my first Espresso Machine. The process can be very confusing on where to start. Your videos are fantastic and have taught me a great deal about making espresso. I am guessing that it is like the advice I received when I was looking to buy my first guitar.. buy the best you can afford. I am zeroing in on one of the Expobar Office line.. but that puts me a little over my budget. So I will keep looking.. I am curious about the new Expobar machine and where it falls in the line of price and features.

Hi Marty, Thank you for the comment! IMO Expobar machines are the best value. High quality build, reliable and same features as the competition at lower price point. In fact, we recently selected the Office Lever as our Best Bang for the Buck machine of 2018! See that video and our selections in 4 other categories of semi-auto machines in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nNWRe6mAvdXHl3k.html If you want to save a few $$ on Expobar we do have rebuilt machines available. At the moment I think there are a few Lever machines available. You can check current inventory here: www.wholelattelove.com/outlet?cat=318 To learn more about what you get in a rebuilt machine check out this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p7SfZMiJrd2-l40.html Good luck, hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions. @@Wholelattelovepage Thank you so much for such great feedback. I think I am going to take your advice and consider one of the rebuilt Expobar machines, especially since I am really into milk based drinks, either the Office Control or Office Pulser should be a good choice. Again, thinking about trying to stay within a budget.. I have read so much about grinders and would really like to invest in a great grinder that could last me for a really long time. That sort of investment sort of blows my budget. So I am considering the Rok Manual Grinder to use in the short term for a few months to buy some time to save some money to buy the actual grinder I want, then I could pass the Rok onto my daughter who hand grinds everyday at college(the reason for my limited budget LOL) for her pour overs? Is this a bad idea? Am I setting my self up for a bad experience?

@@twolinesslotcars You are welcome! Daughter in college...I feel your pain! I have 3 daughters. 2 recently graduated and one is a freshman this year so I'll be paying off loans for years to come. The ROK is a good option. IMO it keeps up with a Baratza Vario. In fact, we did a video comparing and tasting shots ground side by side on the ROK and a Vario: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e6lxf8uHp9rTnas.html Also a good call passing on to the "money pit" :) for pour over. My youngest loves the cold brew at college so I grind her up a pound or so when she visits on a Baratza Virtuoso. A tip for the ROK grinder (actually works with any grinder) if you run into excessive static just swirl a damp finger through the beans before grinding. Works like a charm! Marc

I have a Profitec Pro 700 and a Eureka Atom. Is it advisable to use a surge protector? Does the power load on the 700 require a special kind of surge protector?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 5 жыл бұрын
Hi n, Thanks for the question. In general we do not use surge protectors. You can if you feel the need to. Only requirement is your surge protector be rated to handle the power load of the equipment you have plugged into it. Assuming you have US power the Pro 700 is 1400 watts, Eureka Atom is 450 watts. Total 1,850 watts or 15.42 amps. Your surge protector will need to handle that load with some overhead. I'd look for rating of 2,000 watts or 17amps. Hope that helps. Marc

@@GSJester PID with shot timer would be nice! I'm hoping for either a Brewtus update (v5) or the addition of a PID to their HX machines and some nice way to lessen the need for cooling flushes on those (like the PID on the Profitec 500 brings more temperature stability)

I was expecting you guys to record some videos about the new machine as you did with the Expobar Office Lever (Brewtus) in the past. There is nothing. It looks the new machine is a ghost. There are almost no videos about the new machine except a few recorded by David Corbey in UK. What happened here please??

Now I know why I had to use a 3/4" impact to get my burned out heating element out of m boiler. I had to put my boiler in a chain vise and then bang it full throttle on the impact about a dozen times and it finally turned loose. I love my Office Lever and the heating element lasted about 8 years before failing, so no complaints there. If you don't have a serious tool collection in your shop, don't even try to get the heating element out. So was this machine they were building a Lever? I didn't see a deareator on the pump and the water inlet to the pump looks like the one used for a rotary pump. The red plastic on the pump probably means this machine is far the European market at 230V. Or am I missing something?

@@moyamontoya6486 BS. My Lever is nearly 20 years old. They are build to last forever (with some maintenence). The steel is as thick as in no other machines. Maybe you don't like the machines in Colombia because the brand name sounds a bit like "Escobar"? The payment of the workers in the plantations is too bad. Every coffee drinker should address this problem by buying fair trade coffee...
