+ Shaving sharp edge out of the box
- Expensive

** Verdict **
It's a lot of money to spend on a knife, but the quality is definitely impressive. It's a well thought out, practical design, made with high quality materials. Quite an effective tool for bushcraft, camping, survival, and other outdoor use.
Looks like the developers of Far Cry 4 had good taste when picking a knife model.

I used this one and the one of the smaller size. It is an absolute nightmare of functionality. It's way too heavy it is too thick close to the edge. It doesn't cut, it doesn't chop and it barely splits anything (which is a knockdown since it should split the wood like hell!). I own like 5-6 kukri knives at a time, switching and testing at least two models usually. And man I never purchased a chopper that bad. Handle is OK tho.

Shlami Mk4 any carrying a blade? English? Also you do know you don't need a license to carry a knife (unless you live in Georgia..) Some use a knife because getting a gun is harder, and some places require you to open carry and when you open carry a gun people are less likely to trust you, most people don't give a fuck if you have a knife. Also depending on law a knife is all you got. Hell some places you can't defend yourself without criminal charges. Honestly I believe whats most reasonable for where you live is what you should go with. I have a monkeyfist, Spiderco delcica, glass beaker on my keychain, mace, paraclaw, Tazer, and maybe a gun in the future if I'm bothered enough to get a license and a permanent for counseled carry. This isn't about weeaboo shit this is about self defense and protecting people you care about. I'd rather die trying to save someone then be that guy who pussied out.

I've known plenty of guys like you. You just get a kick out of carrying a weapon. Its fucking gay (no offence to homosexuals). Also the protector fixation is cause for concern. Its often a phase that serial killers go through before they start offing peeps. Kind of like an early warning sign. Maybe seek professional help. And I'm Scottish, not English, you wanker.

This is honestly a rather spectacular blade from what you have shown. The price is heavy for this, but in all honesty, you do get what you pay for. The fact is though, that its far too expensive for the general consumer market who are not looking for a blade that can get them through hell. That is what this is, a tool that can take you through any part of the world and come out.

Not a fan of the steel. If it was 5160 and $200 less, I'd be all over it. Check out the Zombie Tools (stupid name, I know) Vakra. Best damn Kukri on the market. All made by hand, big ass blade (12" cutting edge), it's think as hell (¼"), and best of all, 5160 alloy steel (it's a great steel for big knives, almost impossible to break). I'm a bladesmith, and considering such, I'd give the vakra a 9.5/10. Only issues I have with it is it's edge comes very thick, close to 75-85° overall. And a kydex sheath. I hate kydex because it dulls your blade when you pull it out of the sheath.

I use one from like 7 or so years. This is not the perfect tool (not in my enviroment at least - hard wood, harsh winter conditions, a axe is a axe..) Still I really enjoy it. Very good desing, nice quality. Still had it broken once (the first production run was 57HRC, wich was simply too much), the company exchanged the knive for a second production one (54HRC) free if charge (this is the point You pay extra money to them, materials for the blade are cheap, the process is also cheap You pay for the warranty, and desing wich is oustanding. This improved durability a lot. Still wish the gride would be little less agresive , more sturdy. If its is the tool for Your, enviroment (warmer weather, soft wood, etc) I can only tell buy it (if You will accept the price). Overall I am very happy with my, it was money well spent :)

@@francescosirotti8178 One thing I would like to know is why they use the same steel and the same handle on each of their knives? In this case I think both the steel and the handle are not optimal. I'm sitting here wondering who in the hell would pay over around 70 USD for a _tool._ A tool is something you're supposed to use, wear down, and then repair. Sure, it's probably as good as it gets for a kukri, but I'm not going to spend $500 on it when I nabbed a (admittedly less stylish, but perfectly functional) kukri for $15 at some knife store. If I spend $500 on something, the absolute last thing I'm going to do is take it out in the woods and go to hacking at shit with it, for fear that I'll screw it up and lose my investment. With a fifteen-buck cheapo chopper, there's much less risk. So what's the point? I'm genuinely curious.

Hey Skall, I have a question about swords with holes in the fuller. One of my favorite video games of all time is The Witcher 3: WIld Hunt and I've noticed a few blades that have holes in the middle of the blade. Does this serve any kind of purpose? Does it actively inhibit the way the blade functions? Or is it merely artistic?

I don't know much about blades, but in construction we have holes in steel beams because it allows you to increase the depth of the beam, without it being any heavier than a beam with less depth and no holes, overall allowing the deep, 'holey' to span a further distance From that I'd imagine sword wise, you could afford to make the sword chunkier while keeping the weight the same. (Whether that's an advantage or not I'm unsure as like I say, I don't know much about blades)

I bought one of these from Tactical Imports** in Canada a few years ago: my intention was to see if there was too much compromise to be my personal 1-tool load-out. It comes very close. The KH is the larger tool by about 100mm/ 4" in blade length plus its 2-handed handle (compared to their smaller KS model). The longer KH is better just by virtue of its longer reach and the speed of the tip-making it accomplished for brush-clearing and shelter-building. I had no durability issues and I am not gentle with it. Their burnishing allows some absorption of oil or stuff like Ballistol, which is a good reason for treating it: three days in the rain and no rust (but damned if I'd let this baby go to rust). As a kukri, it can hold its own but my favourite kukri is by Busse but $1,000US is ridiculous and the KH is more versatile. **TI has a new KH for well under $600CDN plus tax (15%), which at 0.75:1 exchange in Cdn$:US$ is a very good deal vs 429€ (pre-VAT). (Take a downmarket big blade out with the KH and you will return with 3 pieces: one intact KH and 2 pieces of the other knife.)

You should check out NDC (near diamond coating) or DLC (diamond like coatings) for firearms. They're fairly cheap to apply but they can run 250.000+ cycles in a firearm without lubrication without needing recoating. That's better than a gerbil on Viagra. There's some very nice coatings being developed with very high imoact/abrasion resistance. You should also check out cerakote. Good watch thanks. That price tho...

I was just shaping a saber machete handle and it ended up similar to that except more smoothed corners and the top notch is only big enough for one or two fingers. It's perfect for strong vertical chops or wide swings from the side without fear of it being thrown. Very cool! Edit: For the price of a handgun I will pass lol

Usually those pockets on the sheath are made either for a spare knife (doesn't look like it for this one) or a small survival spear point you can attach to a good stick to make a spear for hunting. I do a lot of bushcrafting so I actually use sheathes like this all the time.

I have been impressed with ER as their designs do go after the hard use abuse I’d want while staying with a fighting theme also. Lots of compound grinds. I’m also still on the fence at the price points and that’s only due to me having solid relationships with full custom makers. If I was just coming into the community or feel I couldn’t resist anymore I would buy from them and not look back. Always good reviews and their consistent. Also they have many awesome designs

The funny thing is you can order it to about any address inside the EU for a reasonable price. But if the package crosses the EU boarder costs explode. In Switzerland I could probably pretty much chose the country closest to me and let them send it there. It probably would be a good idea to chose a country where such things are legal, though. That's not problem here where I live and they can apparently ship it to anywhere in Italy so I should probably go there. I am sure there are many shops at the boarder where you can register, ship stuff to and they keep it for you to pick up for a small fee. I live close to the boarders to Austria and Germany and there you have such shops everywhere.

What this comes down to is that it's not a reproduction or a battle sword. Kukris might make pretty solid weapons, but I think it's apparent from the design that they're primarily tools. Very useful tools, but the point is, tools are meant to be used, abused, and eventually damaged and broken. And then repaired or replaced. It comes down to how often you'll be using it. If you are in a position where a tool blade like this would get used very often, maybe investing in a tool with more durability might be worth it. If you only need something like this a few times a year, I think a cheaper version will end up making more sense economically. Even if you have to replace it every X number of uses, that's probably still years of availability for maybe 1/6th of the price. tl;dr a kukri is a tool, and unless you're using them constantly, tools shouldn't be that expensive

I don't know how it compares to the KH but I bought a Fox tactical trakker and the KS (smaller version of the KH) and the Fox well outperforms the KS apart from the handle and the sheath. Don't really like the Fox handle and the sheath is complete junk, had already fallen apart by the time I opened the box but the chopping ability of the Fox for it's size and weight (450g or 1 pound)is amazing and it was only $200 NZD compared to the KS which was $600NZD by the time customs had their way with it. The Fox chops through vines like crazy and has a lot of power when chopping dry wood. The hollow ground section on the KS was a better performer than the Fox due to the more steep and curvy angle on the Fox making it awkward (more practice might yield better results) and the KS having a choil. Really recommend you try the Fox out, if you can, and I hope you find the same results as I did.

I had this knife I got in 2003 that they do not make anymore, but the Doberman is close to blade shape. Steel was N690 Stainless Cobalt Steel @ 58 HRC, I think it was the model t-2000m knife, truly frightening 12 inch blade. It did not sharpen as well as a x2 or tool steels, it also was not very springy like 1095 alloys. But this thing was about impossible to ruin. I left it in stagnant water to test the corrosion at one point for 4 months. It came out unnscathed. I used to pry stuff, even pushed it through a full metal clad door. It was marketed by Extrema Ratio as the Italian Spec ops diving knife. Someone stole it from me and I have missed the utility of the thing greatly. It was the best beat the crap out of it, blade I have ever owned. I picked up up from web page while in Iraq, as close range I had to use a hammer at one point. I never wanted have to use a 5 lbs hand sledge to kill again, so I got this knife and it became my favorite even more so then my Benchmade knives and I cannot find one to buy anymore.

I picked up an Extrema Ratio knife (BF2 R CD) at a pawn shop thinking it was some no-name cheap knife, but it's inherent quality shone through and this misapprehension of mine dissipated. That's good quality - when the object makes itself known to you by its inherent virtue. The "straight razor" bit sticking up took some getting used to but it has shown itself to be a decent quick-deploy feature and I like the double-detent although I'm not sure why it's there. My only complaint is that the black aluminum, while nice to the touch, will show scratches like crazy. The locking feature is nice too.

the black finish looks like the same titanium oxide finosh gerber likes to use. It is self healing. Basically you get small scratches and the ti oxide will spread back over the scratch. I had a gerber apple gate for many many years and used it every day for the entire time. Got another knife carried for a while picked the gerber back up and all the scratches were gone again. Instead of scratches showing the metal i had a slightly different texture that was black more glossy. I took a scotch bright to it and scuffed it up and gave it the nice satin finish black again. Also even the sharpened edge was turning black from the original coating (could have been the carbon blackening in the steel i suppose)

I wonder how it would compare to a standard Gurkha service kukri. I'd imagine the handle on the service weapon would suffer in comparison, but the blade should hold up well. the two little knives are just small utility knives for things that are too delicate to use the kukri for they aren't actually supposed to be blunt, Schola Gladitoria actually did a video about the notches, you should check that out.
