Love UG. Got a lifetime subscription maybe 6 years or so ago for $40. Great deal that was haha.

Helpful review. I use both and generally agree with your comments. I found the theory lessons on Play really useful for getting into the tabs on UG. The best feature on UG for me is being able to connect to the songs on KZfaq and play along while scrolling the tab or chords. I play it through my Spark as a backing track. This functionality is built into the Spark amp itself, as you've reviewed, but for me it works better on UG.

just a little hint. In fender play use feedback mode, which allows you to mark and loop any number of bars. This mode also assesses your rhythm, pitch etc for well, feedback. Rock on! 👍

Hi there! We’re all still at it! I marked my 1 year anniversary of playing recently. Much better from the beginning...still a long road ahead. Diving deeper into Fender Play, there’s a fair bit of repetition in the lessons and simplification that seems to put a cap on how far you can go with the program. The acoustic and electric setting for the “path” selection doesn’t seem to change anything within the different, rock, pop, country, etc paths. I still like Justin’s program the best. I like his app and will need to transition to his other web based lessons soon. I will miss the app...it did a nice job of organizing everything. I imagine the web based lessons will do fine...just will be a change for me. Finally, I also have UG pro. While it is good, I think it’s hard to find the right skill level song and instrument tab to follow. There are multiple guitars in some songs and I become overwhelmed with knowing which one to use. I think UG will be good later as I progress further though. 👍🏼🎸 Looking forward to more great videos from you! 😊

I like fender play because I received a discount and it was $45 for a year which is normally $89. The song library isn’t bad either. There is something for everyone.

Gonna be honest about UG Pro...I don't even use it. I might use it to see what they are using for tempo, but that's about it. You get a free month for each transcription you do for them, so I've got a few months. After learning to transcribe, actually learning now, it is addicting. I might use UG now just to compare what I came up with, or if I'm lazy and just want to tool around instead of noodling. Well, I also keep personal transcriptions on there that I use when practicing songs at night if I haven't remembered the chords yet. 2 weeks away from 18 months, and I've pretty much relied on KZfaq videos & UG for learning songs and I feel it has hurt my learning progress. I wish I would have taken the ear training FAR more serious than I did with Justin. And the sad part is he has removed it from the new beginner courses because like me, many weren't using it at all. Sure, it sucks at first, but if you concentrate on listening to a song & trying to transcribe it, the first time you complete a song & do a good job you are hooked. My favorite thing in the world now is the Transcribe app. It is without a doubt the greatest tool for learning with. So the one thing I will credit UG with is me getting serious about training my ears & transcribing so I can get Pro for free :D

Hi! Could you please do reviews of The Art Of Guitar course and Tomo Fujita’s course. Both have a ton of content on KZfaq, but they also have their paid courses. Also. where did you go for fingerpicking? I know JustinGuitar has some basic fingerstyle content, but what resources did you use after that?

hi ya luke.ive been playin on n off,for a fair few yrs.just started to get back into it. think guitar tricks is the best teachin site,from what I've seen,it's seems the most thorough.think I'll giv the free trial a go,and take it from there.keep at it bud.👍

I'd recommend Troy Stetinas Method books, even if the genrehe focuses on is not your cup of tea, just doing his lead primer/Metal Lead volume 1 book and Metal Rhythm volume 1 can give you the technical skills to jump into another method. If rock and metal are your thing there is easily 3+ years of progressive, focused material in a logical well thought out sequence.

The lessons in Fender Play aren’t limited, you can access them whenever you want. Not sure about UG,

UG is more for people that want to learn songs more than learning guitar. They might learn to play guitar, but it's going to be a tough row to hoe. My rant (LOL): I like Fender Play because of all the reasons mentioned in the video. Same for the dislikes, mostly the way the video blocks out the music notation. When it's the play-along practice the screen will adance as the orange bar of what you're supposed to play moves along, but not during lessons, which is a bitch when you don't have a third arm to use the mouse to scroll the notation down. My three big complaints (and I have made notes to Fender, which they let you do right in the lessons, which is cool of them): -There are some lessons that are just silly. No one needs to have how to count to 4 and how to play along with a bass explained to them like they were watching "Bubble Guppies" on Nick Jr while on quaaludes. - While their huge collection of available songs is awesome, Fender could have gotten them right, and/or done better. The Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle" (which I now see is gone) is the same 3 chords on every site, every version. Fender had one chord that wasn't right and even someone with a tin ear could hear it. The explanation they gave me was LAME. They also would leave out huge licks that were the whole reason people want to learn the songs, and not that tricky. Who wants to play ZZ Tops "Tush" and "La Grange" without the main riff, and just as a cowboy chord song? Nobody! Those riffs are kinda the whole reason people want to learn and play them. Same for Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll". That little riff is easy to learn, not difficult to play, and helps new players advance! -The jumpiness of the orange tracking bar. It's great when playing notes one after the other, but of there's a long rest between notes, or held note, it jumps, which screws up the players timing because it's " 1...2...3...4...1...2..3...4.............................................1...2... while the audible the click track is 1...2...3...4..1...2...3...4...1...2... But Play is a great deal, and they're always working on it. You can find 50% discount on it all the time. I also see that if you have a Mustang or Core amp you can download the setting to get the same tone as the song.

gibson app is not good lack basic functionality like navigating on ai tab is really hard and no way to print it. unsubscribed

@@prateekbhardwaj9943 Fair enough. I never print, so that wouldn’t be a factor for me. I do prefer the Gibson AI listening over Yousician and Fender Play so far though. It seems to identify correct and wrong notes more accurately than those other two do for me. But I agree that the layout of the lessons and search features are not as clean as the others.

@@SDisonYT its a good concept but very hard to navigate ai tabs. fir beginners like me its very very inconvenient to go back , loop, listen. ultimate guitar to learn solo is fantastic and very affordable.hope in future gibson app can improve these things. for me this type(gibsonapp) of learning method did not work unfortunately

I like the concept of Ultimate Guitar, but the lessons section did not seem as robust to me as other apps, and I really need an app that listens to me play and tells me which notes I got correct or wrong in each lesson. But for transcribing songs, it’s fantastic.
