UPDATE:
After 1 year and four months, this TV set conked out due to backlight issues. The screen has no light but with images behind the dark screen. So, i surmised it was a backlight problem. I brought the unit on Nov. 14, 2020 to Ace Philippines warehouse/office where they also accept after sales service. Fortunately, the repair was just over in less than three hours and i was able to bring back the unit home after paying P500.
Cheap TV sets like this use Class B or C components which are inferior in quality than the parts used in top brands. Class B or C components can not withstand rigorous operation. In the case of this unit, most probably a simple capacitor in the backlight driver was damaged by the sudden surge of electric current. The work around here if we are buying this cheap TV set is to use an electrical outlet (extension) with a surge protector. I had one that i used in my gadgets. And i am buying another for this TV set. The surge protector will automatically shuts off whenever there is a sudden surge of electricity. You can just reset the outlet to put power back.
