What’s up peeps, hope you’re well. Thought I’d do a quick (hopefully helpful) review of Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne. I don’t want you to waste your money.

I love the scent profile as well but agree it’s a bit weak. I was hesitant on acquiring it at first until I learned Jo Malone fragrances are intended to be layered for you to create your own fragrance out of their selections. Went to a Nordstrom recently and got loaded up with free samples and I must say, playing around with these has been the most fun I’ve had with fragrances in a while. I didn’t realize how “boring” perfectly bespoke fragrances could be until I got these 12 or so samples and started spraying one on each arm, creating a constantly evolving scent bubble/trail as I move around. This one here and the English oak & hazelnut are must-owns for me now. Basil & neroli too, but those two especially. Get your nose on that oak if you haven’t yet, I think you’d quite enjoy it.

I must double back and largely agree with your performance complaints though, wood sage smells far too good for it to fall super close to the skin by hour 3 or so. It’s because it’s so good and natural smelling that it’s annoying how terrible it performs. I will say, it does leave at least a decent bit of the fragrance for you to personally enjoy or someone else very close to you. Like a lightly scented body lotion or something, it kinda gives you a “second skin” imo.

Thanks for the comment, really appreciated. Yeah, so I was told something similar when I walked into a store once, to see if there was anything I could do to enhance the performance of the product. The kind lady in the store said that it’s supposed to be used in combination with other stuff. On one hand I can see the vision, but for the price that they’re charging, I’m expecting beast mode performance. Basically, you’d end up spending £200-odd/$200-odd of coin to get decent performance. Just didn’t add up to me. It smells great, but I can’t justify it tbh!! Thanks for watching! 👊🏾👍🏾

Interesting review! I love WS&SS. It doesn't have huge projection for sure, but I get 8+ hours longevity on my skin and very good sillage. That's with just 2 sprays! It's a wafter not a room filler for sure. Smells great and unique without smelling "weird." I think it definitely goes in the pantheon of iconic fragrances from the 2010's!!

Thanks for the comment! Yes it’s smells great, but to me, one of the weakest colognes I’ve ever owned. I thought it was just me, but other reviewers have the same experience. If it was more potent I would 100% recommend.

I can’t smell it at all maybe that’s just me, I think some of these companies are living in a dream world that there products are so good they don’t need to do what you expect from a fragrance reminiscent of the song the emperors new clothes some may not understand that.
