Thanks for the great videos. After watching so many of your reviews: 1. I have landed on the S8, I was torn between it and the Z6 which I think is discontinued . 2. I now hear your voice in my head whenever reading a coffee product descriptions....

Hey Mark I worked it out after watching your vid again. And also used the app on iPhone. The adapter for Bluetooth came with the machine. My only bug with machine is the tray the cups rest on. made of plastic and not very solid. The Jura machine that this one replaced had a metal tray, much firmer. Other wise excellent machine, well worth price.:)

Jura produces truly excellent super-automatic espresso machines. I have owned an S8 for a while and really love it. On Friday I ordered a Cool Control Unit from WLL to complete the set up. I'm not sure I understand why some so called "purists" are down on the Jura super-automatics. I've owned a number of higher end dual boiler and lever semi-automatics, and most recently bought a ECM Synchronica with flow control. I think the S8 makes a fine cup of coffee. What it lacks relative to a good semi-automatic with a manual process where you have total control, it more than makes up for in of ease of use, convenience, and repeatable results. The Jura is in my home office so I can enjoy a cappuccino or latte while I am working and don't have time to make drinks on the ECM Synchronica. The thing with the Jura is that it takes some tweaking to get the results that you want. Don't expect perfection out of the box. Thankfully, the S8 is very customizable. The default program for a Cafe Latte, for example, has the coffee strength set at half way, 3.0oz of espresso, and 10 seconds of steamed milk, which leaves my 10oz latte mug less than half full and the ratio of espresso to milk isn't right. So I adjusted the program to max coffee strength, 3oz of espresso, and 30 seconds of steamed milk. Perfect! With those changes the latte I get from the Jura is comparable to the drink I make on the Synchronica...sans the latte art. I am very good at texturing milk with the steam wand on a semi-automatic and the Jura S8 comes surprisingly close. The story is a little bit different when pulling straight shots of espresso. The Synchronica with flow control is far more capable since you can pressure profile your shot, producing a range of flavor experiences from the same coffee. But having said that, the Jura holds its own and can make a very respectable shot of espresso.

Hi Z06, Thanks for sharing your experience. Excellent break down of the difference between semi and super-automatic machines. I bounce back and forth between the types on a daily basis. Use a lot of semi-autos at the office and usually have one at home for long-term evaluation. Also at home I have a Jura ENA Micro 90. My wife and daughter love it and I take a long coffee to go made on it every day. Less than 2 minutes from turn on to out the door with coffee in hand. Jura does make excellent machines. I like their designs and the Jura experience is all about convenience. In the studio I have access to just about every semi-auto available in the US. Flow control as you mention is amazing and if you watch my videos you know the Synchronika is one of all time favorite dual boiler machines. Incredibly well built and the best finish detail in the business. Thanks again for you detailed comment. I'm sure it will help others! Marc

@@greatmusicgoodfeel826 Great choice. It's a lovely machine.We bought ours just before Christmas and we've been more than happy with it (and so have our family and friends)! We have the small cooler and glad we went for that rather than just the jug or thermos option.Only issue has bee that we seem to be getting through filters very quickly. We're on the 7th and don't drink huge amounts. Around 2 or 3 cups a day for 2 of us but Jura have been really good and they've sent us 6 filters free and other bits. They want it back when things get back to normal because they think the metering isn't working properly. We're based in the UK by the way.

I bought one of these around a week ago, and I’m really enjoying it. I have fiddled with it a bit, to figure out how to get a 10-ounce coffee (my standard mug size in the morning) with a 16-gram dose of grounds-the strength I like. Here’s the trick: If you want that 10-oz/16 gram combo, just program the single Coffee to maximum Coffee strength. Then, program the 2x Coffee product for a 5.0-oz Volume. When you want your 10-oz coffee, put the mug in the middle, beneath both spouts, and tap the 2x Coffee (on the main menu if you haven’t moved it). Voila! Now you’ll get 10 ounces of water through your 16 grams of coffee into one mug. Mmmm... 😋😋

Hello Whole Latte Love - Just got the Jura S8 and loving it! I want to create a new item like you demonstrated for Large Latte to Go and wanted to ask what were your settings? what was your coffee strength, amount of water, temperature, and amount of milk?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabby, Happy to hear you are loving your S8 and thanks for the question. My personal preference is to always do espresso at full strength and highest temperature, depending on bean type used I have my grinder set at or near the finest setting. Amount of water and milk depends on the cup. Traditional latte is 1 part espresso to 5 parts milk. So if using say a 12oz/360ml cup use 2oz/60ml espresso and set milk timing to nearly fill your cup. A bit of trial and error with finding the right milk timing as milk type and froth setting affect in cup volume. Hope that helps! Marc

HI, I have a Breville Oracle at home (not the touch). It makes awesome coffee, but for work I am wanting a super auto machine for time saving and not having to clean up as much afterwards. Will a machine like this make as good a tasting coffee as my Oracle which obviously is only semi auto... but makes the best coffee I have ever made at home. I've had Gagia and Delonghi super auto's before, but they don't come close to the Oracle. I am hoping that the Jura is right up there with it. Thanks for the many great video's I've watched of yours.

Hi all. The S8 arrives next week, and I am super pumped. One thing I am trying to figure out: How to extend the range of Bluetooth in the kitchen so that I can order a coffee from the bedroom in the morning. It seems sort of short-sighted of Jura to limit the app connectivity to Bluetooth and 2/3M of distance from the machine. I know the app has a lot of other features not related to making coffee - but, given they have the "orders" option in the JOE app - you know they were heading in the right direction! Has anyone figured out a way to use the JOE app from other rooms in the house, or to use an assistant like Alexa to make a cup of coffee? Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee, Congrats on your new machine! I believe you will find the range is greater than 2-3 meters. Depends on your device running the app and its capabilities but I've been able to use it at more than 10 meters. I have other Bluetooth devices which work at 15 meters like iPhone/AirPods or Bluetooth speaker. Marc

I really like the touch screen, ipad integrability, the fact that it can clean itself, and several other features. I am considering purchasing 2 super autos for our coffee stand in order to increase product consistency and increase the number of potential candidates for employment since they will not require as much training vs a semi. My question is: Do you think the Jura S8 or a pair of them are built well enough to handle the workload in a commercial setting? We are open from 5am-3pm weekdays and 5-5 on weekends. If 1-2 of these units Isn't able to handle the work load, can you recommend another unit that has a touch screen, ipad integration, self cleans, has a filter, compartment for pre-ground so we could easily do decaf drinks, and has a milk chiller option. Our girls would LOVE the ipad option that would allow them to load the que with their orders!! PS: We run a bikini stand so super auto is the direction we want to go. Finding young ladies that look the part and can work a semi with ease is not always as easy as it sounds...

Hi Chuck, Thanks for the question. The S8 is intended for home/office use. It is not a commercial machine. Jura does have some professional level machines like the Giga W3: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/super-automatic-espresso-machines/products/jura-giga-w3-professional The W3 while not a commercial NSF machine is rated to produce 120 drinks per day. It also has larger bean, water and used coffee capacities. Again this is not the type of machine typically put into commercial service. Here's a link to a selection of actual commercial rated super-automatics: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/commercial-products?_=pf&pf_v_brand=Concordia&pf_v_brand=Franke&pf_v_brand=Rancilio%20Egro&pf_v_brand=Schaerer They get pricey quick! Has features of much more expensive Jura machines. IMO it's the best bang for the buck and espresso quality on par with all the others with possible exception of the Gaggia Babila which has flow control on the spouts and better grind setting range for more fine tuning of espresso. Hi Mark is there much difference between the ENA8 and S8 for price difference. Hot coffee is what I crave for, previous seem be luke warm so a very hot coffee is key for me, I did see you suggested the ENA8 over others? Thanks Mark and keep up the great reviews
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, Thanks for the comment and question. The S8 has higher capacities than the ENA8, touch screen control and adjustable milk froth. Coffee brewing process is essentially the same between the machines so picking one over the other is a decision typically based on desired features and aesthetics. The ENA8 for example is a smaller machine with more contemporary design elements. Here's a link to a side by side spec comparison of the machines: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/compare?products=MTU0NjAzOTgyMDM0Nyw0NDkwMzA2NTg0NjMw These machines will produce a similar temperature coffee. Be aware no super-automatic machine will make boiling hot coffee. They brew internally at 195-205F. By the time the coffee reaches your cup the temperature drops by ~20F with additional variation based on ambient temps and starting cup temp and material type. If looking for a machine that produces hotter than average in cup temps have a look at the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige. It's one of the few machines I turn the temp down from high to medium for coffee. Beyond that it has features like color screen, true Americanos and flat white, milk preparation order flipping by drink type. A bunch of features typically only found on much more expensive Jura machines. And, the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige is priced below the ENA8. Check it out here including in depth video and owner reviews: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-prestige Hope that helps! Marc

I just got the S8 about 2 weeks ago. I'm loving it, but it seems your crema amount is greater than mine. Could that be due to the beans you're using compared to mine, the coffee settings, or both?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, Happy to hear you are loving the S8! It may be the beans and/or settings. I was using Maromas Orphea: www.wholelattelove.com/products/maromas-orphea-whole-bean-espresso It's one of my favorite Italian style bean blends and gets wonderful reviews from our customers. It's an easy coffee to work with in semi-automatic and automatic coffee machines. Highly recommended for those newer to home espresso and looking for some crema and nice balanced flavor. I do most of my brewing on semi-automatic machines. When using a full automatic bean to cup hear are the settings I start with. These are regardless of manufacturer: Coffee strength: max, Grind: finest setting, temp highest setting. On a machine like the S8 I'd set volume to ~1.5oz/45ml (if getting buckets of crema include in measurement and go to ~2oz/60ml). Some coffees may choke a machine when grind setting is set to finest. If that happens no big deal just back of the grind setting a notch or two from finest. Hope that helps! Marc

Just replaced my Empressa F8 with the S8. I have a question regarding the "2xCoffee" function that I hoping you can answer. When I make a single cup everything's great. But when I make two cups, they taste weak. Almost like the machine is dosing coffee for a single cup instead of two. The total ounces in both cups look right, but the coffee is weak. And I don't hear the machine grinding twice for two cups or for any extra length of time. I checked out the used puck and it looks exactly the same size as for the single cup. Thanks for any help.....

Hi HM, Clearance under the main coffee dispensing spouts is 4.5" (114mm). If you need more clearance you might look at the Gaggia Accademia which has 6.5" (165mm) clearance. Maybe you could of help? Which machine would you choose and some reasons and tips would be appreciated. BTW for me price is not a factor. Thanks.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 10 ай бұрын
Hey MG, Thanks for the kind comment and question. Both are very nice machines. I do think there's more bang for the buck with the Accademia. I tend to do far more coffee/espresso than milk drinks and I have much better control of those on the Accademia with flow control on the spouts and the Boost function which runs a second grind cycle and can do things like add a sweeter ristretto shot to an espresso, Americano etc. I drink a lot of Americanos and the Accademia is by far my favorite automatic for those. I also appreciate the full metal wrap of the Acccademia and the glass front is slick compared to the all plastic housing of the S8. If you do lots of milk drinks you can attach Jura's refrigerated Cool Control to their machines for high capacity milk source that's ready to go all the time. I do find cleaning Jura's pickup tube milk system a little more involved and that cleaning should be done daily. The carafe system of the Accademia does a basic clean of the milk carafe by pushing the spout over and running steam through everything leaving the carafe ready to go back in the fridge and it's good for a day or so. Eventually it will require a deeper cleaning as well. Jura machines do not have to be descaled if you use their in-reservoir filter as directed. The Accademia will need that regardless of filter use. It's not hard to do. Just did that on my Accademia today. Jura machine has slightly higher water capacity and the brew unit is not removable. It's cleaned with tabs dropped in through the ground coffee bypass doser. Same with Accademia but brew unit is removable and should be removed and rinsed weekly. When all is said and done maintenance requirements are fairly equal between the machines. The Accademia does have 4 levels of programmable froth density per drink. Current S8 we have has a manual lever for changing between steamed and frothed milk. I'd choose the Accademia based on value, build and being more coffee than milk drink oriented. That said, I have a Jura ENA 8 at home right now and had a Jura Micro 9 for a few years before that. I have no problem with the coffee from that and I like it's compact size. Here in the studio the Accademia has been a daily driver since last fall. Hope that helps! Marc

I have a question that I couldn't find any reference to: Some machines 2X coffee is basically using the same grind amount and pours twice the water. Can you elaborate how the S8 works? is it grinding a full pack for any drink regardless? When you choose strength of coffee what happens in the back? is it less coffee grind?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage Жыл бұрын
Hi SK, The S8 increases the amount of ground coffee as selected by the strength setting. Maximum amount ground is for a 2X beverage is 16g. It does not perform a second grind cycle for a 2X beverage. All Gaggia machines do perform a second grind cycle and some newer Jura machines do.

My wife and I typically take a 20oz travel cup of coffee on the road in the morning, currently we use two Nespresso pods to achieve this. Is there a setting on the Jura S8 that can achieve that volume of coffee?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage Жыл бұрын
Hey Shawn, Wow that's a lot of water through 2 Nespresso pods! Max single coffee size on the S8 is 8oz. If you select 2 coffees, you can brew into a single cup for a max of 16oz. Do be aware the 2 cups brewing happens through 16 grams of ground coffee with the machine set to full strength. Most would consider 16g used to make 20oz cup a little light. With the exception of a couple of the newer high-end Jura machines they all do a single grind cycle when selecting 2 cups from the menu. If you want a strong large cup on the S8 you'll want to do 2 single cup brewing cycles so you get 2 grind cycles and a max ground coffee dose of ~32g which is more reasonable for a finished 20oz cup. But maybe you'll be good with the lower coffee dose. Nespresso pods usually have ~6-7g of ground coffee each. If you want it stronger you might consider a Gaggia machine. Select 2 cups on a Gaggia and it automatically runs 2 grind cycles. The Gaggia Cadorna Prestige has Jura like features, lower price and does the 2 grind cycles when 2 cups are selected. Max volume per single coffee on that machine is a little over 8oz: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-prestige The new for Q4 2022 Gaggia Accademia is a luxury level machine at similar price to the S8 with even more features: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-accademia Hope that helps! Hi JT, Here's a link to all current Jura models arranged in ascending price order: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/super-automatic-espresso-machines?_=pf&pf_v_brand=JURA&sort=price-ascending It's a common misconception that there are specific beans for making espresso. Any bean type can be used for any brew method. I make longer regular cups of coffee from beans I use for espresso too. This Jura machine uses Puklse Extraction Process - PEP when making espresso and turns that off when making larger cups of coffee to avoid over-extracting the beans. Marc

Watching your demo you seam to drink your cappuccino very quickly confirming the heat problem. Do you have any suggestions for one who loves very hot drinks?

Hi Robert, Thanks for the question. If you want complete control of temperature of milk then semi-auto Italian machines are they way to go. No push button convenience with those like you get on the super-autos but if you are willing to do the work and have a bit of skill then they are capable of higher quality espresso and milk textured and heated to your preference. Another option is a super auto with automatic frothing plus a manual wand like the Gaggia Accademia: www.wholelattelove.com/products/baratza-sette-270wi-conical-burr-grinder or a Gaggia Babila: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-babila-one-touch-coffee-and-espresso-machine With those machine you can have automatically frothed milk or do it manually as hot as you like. Hi MJP, Not sure where you are, but here in US the new Accademia is currently priced below the S8. My preference is for the Accademia. Using the flow control on the Accademia plus the Boost function it's made the best espresso I've ever had from an automatic machine. There's more flexibility making milk drinks on the Accademia. Carafe is simpler/easier than the pickup tube used on the S8 plus you have per drink programmable froth density and the option to manually steam. I like prefer the UI of the Accademia which show all drink parameters and allows one to easily adjust before the drink is made and save as a new drink when it's done. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Mark, overall, which machine would you get. The Jura S8 or the Gaggia Babbila?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan, Thanks for the question. That's a tough question. The S8 is a lot more expensive than the Babila! I think the answer comes down to features that are important to you. Both machines do a fine job. The S8 has a more modern user interface and the ability to change milk froth density with the lever on the milk spout. I used a Babila as a daily driver in the studio for about a year and liked it a lot. It does not have adjustable froth density out of the milk carafe but does have the manual steam wand if you want to go to latte art quality microfoam. Also really like the flow control on the coffee spouts of the Babila. Very useful if you're like me and switch between straight espresso and long coffee. Restrict flow for espresso and increase flow for long coffee. The S8 accomplishes much the same thing using pulse extraction for espresso beverages and turning off the pulse for long coffee. The Babila is a more solid build IMO and the Jura is about convenience of opertion. Use the in reservoir filter and no descaling. Also no brew group to remove. Use a cleaning tablet inserted into bypass doser for cleaning the group. I don't do a lot of milk drinks but prefer the carafe system of the Babila to the pickup tube used on the S8. The Babila's carafe does a steam cleaning when the spout is pushed over leaving it ready to go back in fridge until next use. You still need to take apart for a more thorough cleaning 1x week or so. The Jura does a quick clean of the milk components but should really have a deeper cleaning after use every day. It's not hard but a little more involved. Don't know if I'm helping much and in case you missed it here's a link to my review of the Babila: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p7plgtCXr9i0eYU.html Marc

@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Flavio, Thanks for the question. The Cadorna tends to make hotter milk compared to other machines. I have not measured the in cup temps of a flat white on the S8. I can say milk coming from the spouts will be in the 125-145F range. A bunch of variables affect milk temp. Like temp of source milk, ambient temps, etc. Most super-auto machines are tuned to produce milk temps in the range given above. This because that temp is where milk has its highest apparent sweetness due to heating. It's the same range well trained baristas steam to. For hotter milk drinks a couple of things to do. Preheat the serving cup prior to making a drink, additional heating in microwave after making drink. Marc

Hi DD, the big feature on the Z10 not found on S8 is true cold extraction process. Produces real cold brew flavor. It's about the same price as the S8 and does have Americano on the menu and using the machine's boost function it makes incredibly good espresso. Beyond that it has programmable milk froth density, a wonderful UI and it's one of the only machines that's wrapped entirely in metal except for a beautiful full glass front. Hi rr, Thanks for the question. So as I understand your frothing is not as good as you think it should be? Most milk issues are caused by dirty frothing components. Keep everything clean. Shouldn't be any difference if not using the refrigerated milk supply. Also know some milks froth better than others. We were using whole fat milk in this video. Lower fat milks and/or non-dairy milks generally do not froth as creamy and are less uniform in texture. Marc

Hi Marc, great review and we did buy this machine a month ago on the back of it and it has been making some lovely coffees so thank you. I do however have a question that I have "Google'd" and can't find an answer to, maybe you know the answer... The machine rinses every time you turn it on and off and every 15 minutes it seems. It rinses from the middle double nozzle. We don't really use this as we make oat milk coffees most of the time so why does it rinse from the middle unused nozzles and therefore, 1. Waste water and 2. Use your filter more than necessary when you haven't even used the middle nozzle? It looks like it's totally clean water coming through so doesn't look like it is doing anything apart from wasting water and your filter. It makes me want to make all my coffees through the centre nozzle and then just add milk foam either before or after the coffee from the nozzle on the right. At least then the rinse process is doing something! What are your thoughts please?

Hi J, Thanks for your patronage and question. 16oz is a large latte! IMO your grind setting setting is perfect. I tend to go with highest strength setting when making an espresso or milk-based espresso beverage like a latte. Latte's are traditionally made using a 1:5 espresso to milk ratio so you're on track with 3oz of espresso. It comes down to personal flavor preference but if I were making that large a latte I would probably use 2 brew cycles to up the espresso intensity. So I'd setup the programming to make a 1.5oz espresso plus enough time on the milk to get a total of 8oz. Then make that two times. Another option is to brew a single strong espresso of 1.5oz. Then program your latte to make another 1.5 oz of espresso with the same milk setting. In the end tune to your personal flavor preference. I personally prefer milk-based beverages with higher espresso to milk ratio like flat white or cortado in the 1:2 - 1:3 espresso to milk ratio. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi John, Thanks for the request. A typical Latte uses a 1:5 espresso to milk ratio. Sounds you might be like me and prefer a beverage which features the espresso more than the milk? My favorite is the flat white which typically uses a 1:2 ratio. A few tips... For a stronger/bolder espresso set the grinder to a fine setting. Set espresso strength to max. You can get a latte with more espresso by making 2 into a single large to go cup. Don't know your cup size but let's say your using a 10oz/300ml cup. setup a single latte to make a 1oz/30ml espresso plus 4oz/120ml milk. That'll get you to a 1:4 ratio and brew it 2 times into the same 10oz cup. Another option, make a single espresso into cup then make the latte over top of that. Marc

Morning, can I make a Cortado using the Jura S8? If not, which Jura machine will? thank you
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie, Thanks for the question. The S8 does not have a Cortado on the menu but it does have a flat white which uses a similar prep method. One can program a 2oz/60ml espresso shot followed by about 1oz/30ml of steamed or foamed milk on the S8 to make a cortado. Marc

Marc, I have the exact machine and milk cooler used in your video. Is it possible to use heavy whipping cream vs milk or half and half in this system with good results? I just purchased the machine today and had little luck with the various milk drinks using the heavy whipping cream. What are your thoughts?

Hi Rick, Nice setup! As you've discovered automatic frothing does not do well with heavy cream. It's designed to produce best results with regular whole fat milk. Marc

Hi NS, Thanks for the question. They are very similar and in fact share the same manual. S8 is just a more recent version of the machine. To the best of my knowledge the S8 replaces the S80 model designation which is no longer made. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi Marc! I sell Jura machines at a kitchen store in Oregon. A customer came in today and said there is so much steam from the coffee and milk that it fogs up the touch screen and the touch screen loses its sensitivity and won't work. He has contacted Jura customer service but they have not been helpful. I've been doing a little research on my own but to no avail yet. Any suggestions or ideas?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beth, I've used just about every Jura machine made in the last decade including recent models with touchscreen operations. Honestly not a problem I've run into. For videos I'm often making multiple drinks back to back and any condensation (rare) on touchscreens quickly evaporates. Any chance the customer is using in a very humid environment? Taller cups could be conatinin g and focusing rising steam towards a screen. Short of better airflow near the machine, best I can advise is wiping any visible moisture from the screen prior to use. Excellent machine and another excellent review, Marc! It seems like Jura makes some very consistently warm drinks but does the temperature hold for awhile (considering it's in a double wall glass)? I find that a lot of machines brew hot but cool down very quickly. Thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi DA, Thanks for the comment! For hot beverages the Jura ENA 8 is about the best I've come across. I recently talked about it in my review of the machine: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e6yZl8eGxq3Nf2w.html One of the only machines I've come across that I've actually considered turning down the coffee temp on. It will make a burn your tongue if not careful long coffee. Personally I prefer a drinking temp in the 140-150F (60-65C) range. Flavor is much more perceptible as temps get closer to body temp. I do tend to use some type of double insulate cup/glass for long coffees. For situations where a machine brews hot and cools down quickly that of course has more to do with serving cup and ambient temps than the machine. Marc

Sorry if this has already been asked but... Does the machine really clean itself after every drink after 15 minutes of it not being in use and require a cup underneath or can you let it go into the drip tray? Also is there an auto on feature so it's already warm by the time you come down stairs for work? Cheers! Also one of the best product reviews I've seen to date!! Subscribed!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt, Thanks for subscribing, your kind comment and question. The machine does a rinse cycle on startup and shutdown to help clean the internal coffee circuit. You can let this rinse go into the drip tray. Some people will put a cup under the spouts to catch the rinse but it's not required. No auto on feature on this machine or any other super-automatic I can think of. When you power the machine on it warms up for about 30 seconds, does the rinse and then it's ready to use. Marc

Hi George, Thanks for the question. IMO if you are more of a straight coffee or espresso drinker I'd go with the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige - it can make true Americanos. If you are more about the milk drinks then maybe the Jura with its adjustable froth density. That said the Cadorna Prestige does have more milk drink options Marc

Hi Mark. I just recently purchased the Jura S8. It’s been said that if you’re going to make an espresso you turn the grind setting to fine & if you’re going to make a cup of coffee you set it to course. What about the rest of the coffees ? Like a macchiato or a Flat White ? Jura should make recommendations as to how to set your grind settings for each of the coffees that they have listed on this machine.
@Wholelattelovepage

Hi CB, Many Jura machines use a pulse extraction process when making espresso and do not use PEP when making regular coffee. I have a Jura ENA Micro 90 at home which has the PEP feature. I make both espresso and long coffees on the machine and leave the grind set to fine for everything and let the automatic PEP on/off take core of things. My espresso extracts well and long coffee does not get over-extracted. On Jura machines with PEP it will be used automatically by the machine for espresso based beverages like the macchiato and flat white. With that there no need to change grind size. Marc

This is helpful, Marc...We just got our S8 a couple weeks ago and I use a mix of Lavazza whole beans (1/3 Super Crema; 2/3 Dek decaf) in the hopper. When making an espresso on maximum bean strength setting, it tastes a bit sour, but adjusting the grinder down to coarser settings I'm not able to get rid of the sour taste...any suggestions? At this point, is it the beans?

Marc, your videos are very informative, please keep them coming! I ended up selecting the S8 for a birthday gift. I've had it for one day and am already amazed with everything it can do. I was hoping for your advice on how to make a Cafe au Lait using the S8. Is it possible to pre-program, or should I just get hot milk and then manually put the cup under the other spout for a cup of coffee? TIA!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, Thanks for the kind comment - I will keep the vids coming. Great to hear you are loving the S8. Sorry for the delayed response. Been a little hectic here as elsewhere while we work to deal with current events. You should be able to create something similar to a cafe au lait. Technically they use a French press coffee so to get close you'll want to use a coffee and not an espresso beverage so the machine does not use PEP brewing. I'd do a 2 step process and set the frother lever to the steaming position and not froth. Make 5oz/150ml of steamed milk. Then brew 5oz/150ml of coffee over that. Hope that helps! Marc

Hi EB, While the S8 does not have a one-touch Americano on the menu you can make one by making an espresso and then adding a programmed amount of hot water from the machine. The Gaggia Cadorna machines do have one-touch Amricanos on the menu. Check them out in this video if interested: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mryBh8yc3Zu9oJc.html Marc

Fantastic presentation Marc - a couple of questions. It appears that the S8 doesn't have a setting for an Americano. Could you do that in two steps, first creating an espresso under the center taps and then adding hot water on the right side? Also - if you rename a menu item, does that new config become a new option in the menu, or does it just replace the original? Finally, if there were two or more people using the JOE app on their phones, but linked to a single S8, could they all create their custom mixes for their drinks, and the S8 would adjust accordingly? Hope that makes sense. Thank you!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi CC, Thanks for the the questions and your kind comment! Yes you can definitely do an American in two steps as you describe. I have an older Jura ENA Micro 90 at home and do exactly that. Renaming would replace the item renamed. If two or more people are using the machine only one instance of the app can connect to the machine at a time. But you can have your own drinks stored within the app which do not affect drinks other have stored on their device/app. If you want a machine which does true one-touch Americanos have a look at the Gaggia Cadorna Prestige: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-prestige It does not have app control but has 4 individual user profiles on the machine so you can store 4 variations of each drink. The Cadorna Prestige is our daily driver in the studio. Makes wonderfull milk drinks including true double shot flat whites using up to 23g coffee dose. Marc
