Pham, it is always difficult from transition from one brand to another. I started with Yamaha about 8 years ago, and in 2018 shifted to the PA700 from the decade old S910. It was a learning curve but well worth it in the end. So far these things seem to be your issues. Weight, favorites slots, sequencer recording and edit, as well as how to exit the MP3 record mode while recording. Let's start with weight. Anything that is a metal built, will always have the additional weight to it. Plastic is cheaper, but more easily prone to scratches and damage. Since the PA5X costs at least $4500, it has to come with a metal build for traveling musicians so that it can survive the rigors of the road. Any 76/61 key metal built keyboard weighs in around 15-18 kg/33-40 pounds, that's just how it usually is. If weight is too much of a concern for you, the SX900 is better, and offers built in amplification as well. The Genos is made of plastic, good plastic, not the cheap kind. Favorites slots are currently only 11. If you want registration memories like on Yamaha, I'm afraid you wont get them here, this is one of the pluses of Yamaha, and I still haven't found a substitute. There was a performance list feature on the Roland's, but they don't make arrangers anymore, so that's not an option. Korg has a different way of doing things, you can save your registrations (keyboard-sets which are up to four sounds), in folders, and easily recall them if you need to. It allows you to save your favorite kbd-sets, but you will have to go to the sound folder menu to access it. You don't get front panel recall. The sequencer is not currently finished, and not all the functions and features from the PA4X have been imported yet to the 5X, so you will have to wait for an OS update that fully finishes the sequencer. As you inquired, there was a quick record and step quick record option in the PA4X, which you can easily record and edit a style without starting from scratch. This feature is coming up in an OS update and will be added. There was also a midi to style converter on the 4X, that is to be added to the 5X. Some style editing features are also missing, and will be added later as well. KAOSS functionality too, but not too sure about it. As for MP3 record, hit the REC button on screen and press exit (front panel or drop down menu). This will take you back to the home screen and on the top left, you will find a blinking rec/mp3 sign, which indicates that you are recording. All the best!

You want to look at the manual online it will tell you how easily you can save hundreds of songs and pull up a list that you made in the songbook and you can use it at your gig to pull up songs you play that you have saved alongside the songbook. As far as using Yamaha. I found they tease you with a little change in the next newest keyboard for loads of money they never really get to the nitty-gritty. I just bought one and in Canada, we have to pay 65,00.00 because of the American exchange, and if you ask me that is a lot of money. There are many wonderful styles on this keyboard a lot of which I can use and many I can't use the same as the Yamaha tyros 3. The richness of the tones on this Pa5X has blown Yamaha right out of the water. The simplicity of the Korg Pa5X is amazing and everything is at your fingertips without having to go through hoops and loops to save the other thing is you have a Fader that you can set up two songs completely different from each other and just continue to play without having to adjust anything but the slider to the other side. You can have a memory of up to 1 TB and Yamaha has 58 GB on their Genos I stand to be corrected but that is what I think I read. In the Pa5X you will be able to put two MicroSD cards at the back and there you will save loads of things for your performances. Never mind the weight with my Tyros 3 and the semi-soft and hard case it is over 90 lbs to lift into my car. I'm not as young as I used to be but pick the machine for the things it does not the weight and if you claim your taxes you can write off all of your expenses and come out on top. I think you made the correct decision in purchasing the Pa5X because it has so many more benefits than Yamaha at a better price for what you get. When you play the automatic backing tracks try adding 4 top matrix buttons and you will be amazed at what it can add to your performance. The ensemble is like Harmonizer on the Yamaha. I just bought my keyboard on the 5th of January as that is when it arrived after putting a down payment on it in November of 2022. At first, I thought like you I don't think it is for me but I have had about 48 hours with it thus far meaning I play on it until I ache. Then I stop realizing where did the time go. I say Give it a chance you won't be sorry. We have 30 days to try our keyboards out and if it is something we can't work with we take it back for a full refund. I don't know what they do in the USA In the world of Rhythms you will find Christmas settings and before knowing where to find them I felt the same as you maybe it isn't what I want. Now I want to keep it so you need more time and write off your expenses and charge a little more for your gigs. Make the keyboard and equipment pay for themselves. Good luck. I haven't even touched the surface of the keyboard yet and I know it has so much more to offer than Yamaha ever did. They are now taking a back seat as far as I am concerned and the GENOS I hated it. Yes, I returned it on the 30th day. Good Luck AN! By the way, I play by ear not buy notes at all so I am limited in some of the rhythms but that is the same with all keyboards like it or lump it we can't have everything if we did there would be no extras that we don't use. I am just a customer like you and I was very skeptical at first but now I'm loving it. I find new things daily to love about Korg and the sounds are really rich. That is with a Logitech set of speakers with a woofer and two tweeters with volume and bas control nobs all for under $150.00. I would say can you imagine what it will sound like on my Bose tower?

Hello! The functionalities you mentioned are all there. If you don’t like reading the manual, as you said, try to find video manuals. There are many in KZfaq. Yes, this instrument is heavier than the Yamahas you mentioned, but there is offers a lot more than any Yamaha arranger, including the Genos.

the weight issue you should have bough Korg pa1000 if you were planning to travel a lot with it. the register sound in Yamaha is equivalent to Songbook in Korg

did you add the micro sd card? that will expand everything for you

the Korg is a thousand times more sophisticated and in depth complicated than the Yamaha and you will only going to appreciate its value after spending years of in depth use

Usually track 10 is for the drums. It wont pllay the style. It is a sequencer so program it from start to finish. The style is for automatic arranger.

Problem 1 - solved- you must use ‘backing sequence mode’ under multi track sequencer menu. Record all tracks at once from style play , add additional tracks , do pinpoint editing, you don’t have to replay everything, you can just fix the track or measure . Save as midi file, then save as Mp3. Sequencer is deeper than yamaha’s. Problem 2- solved- save all settings as song book entry abs recall Or Have all fav user sounds in user sound page, you can choose multiple sounds at once click. If you use performance mode you can chose, multiple sounds/ different pads, other settings in just once click and change multiple performances in one click as well. More convenient and more options at once than 11 favs or registrations in Yamaha. Functionality Korg wins, hands down. You will start to see the problem with the styles later / you will find your self muting multiple parts just to get it right. If you are not middle east/ balkan/ ethnic music maker and who rely on 8 / 16 / country type 4/4 signature US/UK type music player , lack of style availability / busy fills / overcomplex bass lines/ drum pattens ( even though you have individual drum volume editing)that doesn’t fit generic songs will start to appear and it will be too late to return the keyboard. And ofcourse, third party good western user style availability is poor compared to yamaha unless you play mid east/ balkan/ east euro music.

I am thinking about getting it? But is it better than my Yamaha Genos? The weight it’s doesn’t concern me because I don’t travel beside playing locally. All my arrangements keyboard it’s got to be a 76 key If are a seasonal professional player I’m recommend the Genos and the ketron I hope Yamaha will improve the next Genos with a better style editing > 3 band Eq for each of the instruments that need to be edited. My 20 year old Roland G70 has it

Ân, Performance on korg có nhiều sound chứ em. Hopefully em can figure it out. Korg PA is way much better compared to Yamaha, IMO, the keys the sound. I used to have Yamaha too but I always prefer Korg. This new PA 5x indeed heavy and that's a drawback and first version OS always had bugs so I will wait before I order mine.

Still no registration buttons, and no quick and easy way to access your custom made setups. Am I missing something?

The Korg Pa5x, is a good keyboard. There are OS updates coming to it, soon.

When he said Yamaha I knew it this Korg is not for him ,,, all Yamaha players find difficulty using real machines like Korg or Roland or Ketron!!

I have Genos2 and Tyros 5 Pa5x . I am mainly use Yahama arranger for budgeted music projects. For real production and live performances, I prefer use Pa5X.

By the way I am new to Korg after being involved with Yamaha for 55 years I am now 65 I was a young self-taught musician demonstrator for Yamaha. LOL

The quick recording they will put in the next upgrade and many other things like the KAOSS function and Boot Creator that turn a midi file in to a Style. For performances you have to create a Song List by using the Songbook feature. Sounds and Styles are much powerful and better then Yamaha. Yes for travelling is not good to go abroad and it is heavy, Use the Yamaha for that reason. Keep the PA5X because is a powerful tool for sounds and produce your track with e polish touch because it has the finalizer built in. For seeing more sounds or synth sounds you have to go in keyboard set and see other tab legacy, not in keyboard set library. If you wish to know more about the PA5X call me back. Enjoy the music!

You need to read the manual before you make a revue video. You also need to consider the differences between a work station and an arranger. This keyboard has a built-in synthesizer in it for creating and editing synth sounds. You just might like a Genos 2, but it’s made out of plastic. Some of those things you present in your revue eliminate your limited requirements and put negative opinions on what I consider features.

You need more time with this, there will be updates. it sounds pretty good to me. just be sure in your heart its not for you.

What about its price?

You should buy Roland (light weighted) and great functionality and very very easy to use as interface. Fantom O6 and add for the orchestra Ketron sound module. Together will smash Korg and Yamaha! And so save your budget too!

I believe this new Pa5x still has no registration bank like Yamaha PSR has. Several years ago, I bought a korg Pa700 to replace my old Technic KN3000, without registration bank just drive me nut. Meanwhile those intro/varation/fill in /ending button so small and all place so close cause unnecessary miss pressing those button while playing. And no lite on those button also cause problem at dim light condition. Keep using it until the PSR SX900 launch, sold the Korg pretty cheap and never look back even how powerful on sound edit from Korg.

Without any doubt this keyboard is a mine full of technology but the price is too high!!! I understand that its target is toward the professional users, but the cost is huge, really!!!! However the quality of samples acoustic pianos and pipe church organs (expecially full Tutti one) is without discuss!!!! Amazing!!!!!

Yamaha SX is a toy compared to the PA5X, coming from Yamaha to Korg will take time to adjust, I don't know if you still have it? but hang in there better thing will come with the updates, Korg always comes through eventually.

Genos compared to korg pa series is too flat sounding, especially playing live on scene. Do not forget that pa5x is still using os 1.0 and will be upgraded soon :)

Tell the airline to put Fragile stickers on your equipment and say if it gets damaged you will be claiming for full replacement and let them know how much it costs. Also if you ask nicely you may be able to keep in in the front closet of the plane I have done that in the past with other instruments because they don't want to be responsible if you make them responsible for the keyboard. Fragile stickers mean just that ... Lovely to look at and lovely to hold if you ship and it gets broken considering it sold. Also, all systems are different so it is necessary to have a manual handy so you won't take a long way around. the manual will help you in a great many ways. Yamaha is tougher to learn than the Pa5X. I am just a customer just like you no affiliation of this company whatsoever.

Guess the learning curve is pretty steep, but curious how you manage to make good song on this keyboard ;)

Yes, I suggest you spend more time and read the manual next time before posting a video complaining about things you don’t understand yet. It’s really not fair to complain about things that it does but you don’t yet know how to do. Read the manual.

You do not understand the concept of korg which is much better than yamaha. Read the manual before you talk.

I have a Genos and toyed with the idea of changing for the PA5x. I thought with there being a four year gap between the Genos and the Korg there would be a significant improvement with the advancement of technology. I have spent some time watching comparison videos on KZfaq and one dealer visit. In my honest opinion apart from the adjustable screen angle and the ability to fade between two styles there’s no advantage whatsoever. I think the piano voices are comparable to the Genos but everything else is inferior as you would expect with a cheaper product. I wanted to post a KZfaq link showing the internal components, it suggested that low grade components are used in the Korg, unfortunately I cannot find it again. Wheather or not that’s correct, only time will tell. I don’t gig but all those tiny buttons must be a nightmare in dim light. For now, I would suggest any yamaha owner to stick with what they have. You only get what you pay for. To me, being a car enthusiast, I would compare the Genos to a good executive German car, the Korg to just driving a Ford or Peugeot. I don’t wish to offend any Ford or Peugeot owner, but you know it makes sense!

hello. I have the korg pa4x much better than the new pa5x. a disappointment for me.

I can understand not recommending the PA5X to the people who plan to fly with it. Of course those people would already know about the weight issue. But knocking it because the airline might throw it around? Really??? Also, why post a video at all if you haven't even learned how to use the new machine? I do agree that it makes more sense to fly with a cheaper and lighter keyboard but the rest is just plain ridiculous!

lolz yamaha sx900 it only use at home for fun. no musican fly around with that keyboard . just sell the korg and go back to yamaha sx900 ..i can see this korg completly not for you brother .. all the best

Watching your video I couldn't help to think how silly you were by buying a product without proper checking other reviews by proper professionals on youtube or bother to go to the shop and ask for a demo and put any questions or concerns for answer. Stop moaning.

If you money to spend to travel all over the world every week then 50$ for weight is not a problem. You should have plenty of cash gigging all over the planet .

Try the Ketron Audya 5. You will never want any other arranger. Or if you want portable. Get module. Ketron SD90 sound module. Fita in your backpack. And get a very Iight controller. You want to hear a live band try the Audya. Those on Korg sound fake.

Yes thats a sequencer you have to record everything from scratch. There is no rythm there what you need is a yamaha DGX-670

Korg may sound better since it’s revamped/ more ROM etc. acoustic sounds wise SA 2 still kills DNC. When you compare the styles ( for western music) , Korg’s limitations start to appear. Over produced/ busy bass lines, drum fills that sounds good on it’s own but they are in the way/ obstructing while you sing/ play solos. Most of the Korg supporters here are non western OMB players from middle east/ balkans/ east EU or from west EU while playing their ethnic music where Korg samples and ethnic styles are needed. For a western OMB player ( US/ UK/ English speaking or SE asia OMB English song players probably like this reviewer) , Yamaha is still the choice ( style availability) for the same reason. Korg needs a strong style writing department if they want to take over.
