Conclusion of my review of the LOC Precision 5.5" Patriot Missile. In this episode, final details are wrapped up, the Patriot is flown, and I give my final thoughts on the kit. Probably not to hard to guess whether I like it or not!

This was an excellent series! You went into detail, explained things well, offered observations and suggestions, showed a successful launch, then summarized the entire build for us. Very good job! We all know this video series took EXTRA work on your end to present it to us so... Thanks dude!!! You're helping the rocketeer community with your competence and effort.

Loc is top notch when it comes to customer satisfaction there one of the fu companies that still care what the consumer wants and needs ill bet money if u would of called them and told them about the chute they would of sent u a larger one.. i just bought a 4" black brant and a 4" iris the nose cone that came with the iris was awsome long and pointy the one that came with the brant was stubby and had a 3/4 of an inch rounded tip i didnt like it so i called loc and was honest and told him and he sent me the longer sharper pointed nose cone... what a great company.. thanks for the video awsome and a shout out to LOC

Great informative video. I am basically use your techniques fore the 7.5 Yank Patriot. Making it dual deploy. Will be flying it in the spring for my level 3 attempt.

It seems that LOC precision recommends smaller parachutes for harder landings. They sell spare parts much better. 😅😛 Anyway thank you for all this needed knowledge.

Two of my favorite things in one vid! Snakes and rockets! Not sure where you are, but this is definitely a harmless gopher snake. A common inhabitant of agricultural land where they can find lots of prey supported by the crops.

Thanks for that! Yeah, the little guy was just looking for some shade. I'm just super glad I didn't unintentionally trap him inside the tool box. This was in eastern Washington State.

I love using rust-oleum paint if u follow ther instructions it give u a flawless glossy finish the best primer hands down is the dupli -color perfect scratch and filler primer its kinda of a small can but it sands like a dream.. ive even dripped it in low spots and it fills awsome and sands so easy u should try it 10.00 a can but well worth it

I have the 29mm case with the apollo engraving. Nice dog peeking down the steps but I thought you balance without motor and I have never added weight to any rocket that is 1 caliber or any kit other than a real short rocket but you know more than I do so I may be wrong. nice straight shot

Balance should be done with the motor in place, as you want to measure the stability with the CG as far aft as it will be for the flight. Most sport rockets don't need nose weight, but it is always a good idea to check the balance before flight. The Patriot has scale size fins that are on the small side, so a little nose weight got the balance point to where it needed to be.

looks very good. Do you need any glue on the inserts?

Loved your build videos, how do you figure where rail buttons should be located, I heard you say something about 1 caliper
@flyfalcons
@flyfalcons 3 жыл бұрын
A caliber is one body tube diameter, generally if the rocket's center of gravity is one caliber in front of the center of pressure then it is considered stable. I like to place my upper rail button at the one caliber location to minimize binding on the rail and to serve as an easy balance spot to check the rocket for proper stability before flight. Hope this helps.

@@flyfalcons so if I have a body tube that is 4 inch diameter, it should balance atleast 4 inches forward of the CP to be stable?
@flyfalcons
@flyfalcons 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigD_RC That is correct. 1.5 calibers is even better but at 1, the rocket should fly well.

I believe so, we finally encouraged him to find shade elsewhere. After that happened I made sure to close my tool box when I was away. I'm just glad I didn't squish him in the box or lock him in there.

Ive painted 30 rocket in the last 6 months and ive found that the gloss rust oleum paint smokes the gloss krylon paint. If u aplly 2 dust coats and wait 10 to 15min between the coats then hit a heavy coat then wait 10 to 15 min u have a slick gloss paint job. Just my opinion after using both now krylon gloss white and gloss black are good but u get into the colors the gloss isnt that good

Idk. I'm not a fan of expensive cardboard rockets. I'm to clumsy to keep them in good condition for too long. Great flight though. Level 3 coming soon?

@9;37 The motor should have been assembled and placed in the tube. When the motor is positioned 2.5 inches higher; it provides additional leverage and will throw off your measurements.
