Nice build. Thanks for your candor regarding the patience required to work with Nomad. I think I’ll pass.

Thanks for explaining the switch direction. I was bothered by it before you talked through it

Just gotta drop a line and say thanks for all the LR videos you're putting out. I just sold my ZX6R and have a deposit on a 701 LR all the way up in Minnesota. Husky's decision to discontinue the LR really made it a pain in my ass finding a bike anywhere close to San Antonio - but I was stuck on getting one ever since I started my research for an ADV bike with long service intervals and good road manners to take me to the dirt. I actually made the trip up to TJ's Cycles a few weekends back but they only had an Enduro non-LR model left in stock. So the plan is to go up and get the bike, bring it back south, get some time on the dirt, mod it very similar to your setup and then hit the Continental Divide trail in Aug/Sept. Beautiful setup and thanks again for the vids. Cheers

Your 701 build is literally identical to what I am planning. Brilliant work! If for whatever reason you want to sell, please drop me a line

Great video and a great bike! Good job with the build👍. With regard the toggle switches I normally assume up is off and flick down to switch on, but that might just be me. The 690/701 engine is a fantastic piece of kit.
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
your the first person to answer about the toggle switches lol i think it must be a standard somewhere since the plate is cut for that position. i have a ktm excf with a tower also and the switches are fixed for the same on and off

@@johnaquad I am from EU and regarding the switches - UP for me for OFF, to turn ON flip the switch DOWN. So ye, we might be different about switches :D

agree with you about the nomad tower is the best affordable. aurora is freaking expensive. rade garage , their tower little bit lower in height if I am not mistaken. another pros for nomad, they are using real rally screen

Nice looking build! Did you happen to weigh the complete Nomad ADV kit? I'm curious if there's wind buffetting while riding at 75mph. I'm 6'3" and thinking about getting this tower because I want to make an adventure bike as light as possible (Stock weight is 350lbs, I think).
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
350 is close to dry weight which i see 341 plus adding at least 6 gl of gas at 6 pounds a gallon brings you to 377 then oil maybe 378 . i didnt weigh the tower but my guess is 5 pounds at the most with gauges and gps ect. this bike with panniers, tool box and no gear at all is about 394 , fully loaded with luggage lets say for the TAT , tools accessories ect .. weighs in around 440 . im 5-8 so i cant speak for the wind buffer for you but i like it .

great review, I have a non LR and I think you get such a much better tower than the Rade garage F5 here. My only concern is the headlight, will it catch much dirt

yes highly recommend the shield . not sure where or how to get it

Where did you find the video of the Nomad tower install? Finding the paper instructions a bit vague!
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
i had the same issue . never did find any video at all showing a full install . i basically watched every video of every model bike and the bits and peace's the showed , studied photos , screen shot ect... it was a lot of study and trial and error. by the time i did my second nomad install it was much easier.
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
even worse when theres updated parts like the head stock attachment but the instructions dont show the updated parts and how to install

How do you find wind deflection and noise at highway speeds with their fairing kit? Saw a review on RG's version saying it was quite noisy/wobbly. I had the same issue with nomad when ordering my ABS guards, took well over half a year to get them. Bike looks great, thanks for sharing.
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
no problem with noise . wind deflection is so much of an improvement on the shield is great but i also have a nomad tower on my other bike an excf 350 with 4 gallon tank now the issues on each bike is arrow dynamics affected by body work with tower . the LR forward tank with nomad tower causes wind to travel on top of side of tanks like a spoiler blowing up your torso so if you wore a loose MX shirt it will roll up front and back from wind . on the excf the wind comes inbetween the tower upwards causing your helmet some shaking
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
on an LR the airo is much better using an aurora tower

@@johnaquad right on. I have a 2020, but not an LR. I've been on the fence about pulling the trigger, tired of being a giant sail getting beaten up by the wind haha, so that's good news.

is the PDM needed if you get a rally tower?
@johnaquad2 жыл бұрын
the pdm specifically is not needed . but it is highly recommended to put a fuse of sorts on each additional electronic device you add to bike such as gps , usb , heated grips ect... there are many options to install fuses for extra devices and the pdm is just one option
