Hey Wade, Just a little tip.... If u press your nose flat against your skin, arm or crook your elbow and breathe in a few times (smell your skin) it helps clear the olfactory senses. I have a perfumer friend who works with hundreds of scents daily & he shared this tip with me. Sounds Crazy but Try it... I Promise It Works. 😊

Hi Wade! I think this is a great idea for a new series. I tend to like fragrance reviews. However, only people who give totally honest reviews about the fragrance. I find you to be straight up about everything, so this was an excellent review of the fragrances. Awesome! Really loved your review. I can't wait to hear how some of these turned out in product. Next time could you add in rather it is skin safe or not? I make soap and skin care products as well and think others watching would be interested to know. Thank you. Have a great weekend! Jill

Just received and got a chance to smell them last night. Oob, many were okay. I dipped blotters in the fragrances and let the sit overnight. Quite a few smell somewhat, if not completely different. Hey Wade! Love your videos. But you mentioned about Candle Science’s is a dup - can you share what do you mean by that? Which company has the original scent? Thanks!
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn 3 жыл бұрын
A dup just means that is based on some other popular well know fragrance (not a candle fragrance). For example... an FO made to mimic a men's cologne. Or, it can also mean its made to mimic some popular candle fragrance by a big box brand. Some candle makers love the smell of a specific "Yankee candle" for example. But we obviously can't use their oils as they are custom so these FO suppliers make a duo so we can have something close to what we like. :)

With regards to the FO flashpoint, is this the baseline at which the FO should be added to the wax? If so, if a FO has a very high flash point and my wax has a lower max temp, should that FO be avoided?
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn 2 жыл бұрын
Nah. Flashpoint is only really used for shipping reasons and regulations. You don't need to adjust the temp y9u sdd oil to wax based off Flashpoint. You want to add the fo hot enough to blend. And flash point doesn't mean it will start evaporating when adding to hot liquid. It means the temp that it can catch fire if exposed to open flame. .. long story short, most people add FO around 180 or so. Some waxes need it even hotter though (coconut snd palm mostly)

How can I test a fragrance oil HT without going through the whole wick testing process to see if I like it before making a large purchase of it. Is there a tester wick? I’m new to all of this. I am using the IGI 6006 wax after watching your review of it in an 8 ounce jar.
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn 3 жыл бұрын
You can test to see if you like the scent by just dabbing in a cotton swap and placing in a bag or something. Or make wax melts which are easy. But there is no way to effectively test the HT of a candle without wicking. The wicking is largely responsible for how well it throws and performs
